There was a "feature" at some point in time that different Druid forms had different diminishing return counters. So if you got a full length fear in humanoid form, switched to bear and got feared again, it'd be a full length fear again.
Wow.
Although, issues with druids didn't end there. I remember originally you could not shift out of form while CC'd. Nor could you use trinkets while shapeshifted.
Thats not really an issue. Other classes can't shift out of CCs.
Please read all of what I wrote. Thanks!
Not really an issue there, either, since druids "casting form" was no form.
Stop being silly. Being caught in feral was a deathtrap.
(Admittedly, it is worth noting that trinkets didn't break all CCs, but the druid one was particularly hampered.)
End on

Luckily, Druids arethe class. Seriously. Tanking? Awesome. Healing? Badass. DPS? John Maddeningly spectacular (at a certain gear and skill level, of course, but that's true of most classes). Travel forms for in-flight flower picking and seal form for speedy snagging of all the tasty mining nodes in Wintergrasp? Oooooh yeaaaaah!
Making my Druid my main character was the best choice I've made in game in a long time.
Also, I remember when we'd have "sitting around waiting for X class, Y spec or Z server issue to be addressed" and some of the raid members would get to duelling to pass the time.
Druid vs Druid and Paladin vs Paladin fights were epic.
In that they took 10-30 minutes before people just gave up. It was less about wearing down your opponent's character and more about wearing down their personal will to keep going.

Druids have come a long ways since the early days.
Of course, all classes have, but I like to maintain that druids have come a particularly long ways (although paladins are probably pretty notable too).
And yeah, I had a 30 minute battle with another resto druid while waiting to do MC or BWL once. (EDIT: I think it did end because one of us just sort of gave up after a while.)

Druids started out with one working talent tree and one viable playstyle, and nowadays they have three working trees and four viable playstyles. That's some progress right there.
So how fast could I take a DPS DK to 80 if I get him some heirlooms? I've got PVP shoulders on him already. I really just want another gathering profession and crafting profession. He's currently at 58 or so, and parked at the Orgrimmar bank with full rested XP.

Wouldn't even need 80 if you didn't want. 73/74ish should be enough to gather anywhere and to max a crafting prof.
But for levelling with 2 pces of 10% xp gear I'd say you could do 1-1/2 to 2 levels a night pretty easily. Maybe more.. Forar should be able to give a better answer though

In my experience, the fastest way to level is through questing, as it removes much of the human element that can slow down instancing, and is vastly more efficient in retaining Rested exp (a dungeon might blow through 4-6 bars of rested, whereas with heavy questing you can do an entire level on ~5-6 bars of rested). All of my alts aside from the Deathknight were already 70, so I can only speak to my experience with that class.
DK's levelling in early content are pretty much overpowered, but unlike with my Hunter and Warlock, there are group quests in the early 70's that can and will kill you. I levelled mostly as Blood, but that was based less on having researched the issue heavily and more with my just trying shit out and seeing what I enjoyed. In hindsight, I'm thinking I should've gone Unholy, as I really enjoyed that spec as well, and having a permanent pet is fun.
Levels up until 70 could be done in 1-2 hours per level give or take. Once I hit 70+, I found that they took slightly longer than that, though by the early 70's I was also doing a fair deal of LFD'ing, which while fun and a way to get some upgrades, was also slow and bad rested use, as noted. I only bothered with this because I had other alts on the climb to 80 as well, so rested efficiency wasn't quite so important; the moment one character bottomed out, I'd just park them for a few days or a week and move onto another character that was at or near full rested again.
One small trick I like to play on myself is to try to make a goal of hitting a level (or two) and then parking the character. The up side to this is that you essentially pick the character up again at a more powerful point than you left them. The main down side is that occasionally you train new abilities and then forget you have them entirely, because you didn't spend any time immediately putting them to use. This has come up recently with both my Warrior and Paladin, but aside from feeling like a silly goose, I don't think it was any form of epic fail, just a new mechanic/ability to add to my repetoire.
I'm not sure what level you need to be to max a profession, but I don't think it's anywhere near cap. You could probably sprint to that point without too much trouble in a week or two (or faster if you don't care about your rested bonus, it'll just take more hours /played at the cost of fewer calendar days spent getting there), but once you're up around 70+, you can just leisurely wander your way up to 80 anyway. I mean, as a gatherer, you'll want to be able to gather mining nodes, herbs or skinned creatures efficiently, and for crafters, you'll likely want to be able to do some rep grinds (while questing for cash or heroicing for cash and gear, that is) to earn new recipes anyway, right?

Need advice. I have a new mage with no tradeskills. He needs something to do. The only 2 tradeskills that fit, that I've never tried seriously are JC and Alch. I have a miner that can flush him in ore, but I also play with Samphis who is a JC. Are potions good for a mage? I'm frost spec'd with heirlooms and like to burninate through things as fast as I can. I am a gear whore, as well as an altaholic. Maybe inscriptionist? I dont' know, I just know that engineering sucks, even as a hunter.

You will love alchemy. Yes, potions are great. You can make these for yourself for very cheap, get a nice trinket, transmute tons of valuable gems and sell them or cut them using your JC! And have both potions and flasks that last forever and are never consumed.

Holy crap! I have a maxed alchemist and somehow didn't know about that potion. I usually stick with the endless potions to save money, but eh, goldclover isn't that expensive (usually).
Engineering is also pretty great. I have it on my paladin mostly just for the explosives (and fashionable goggles).

edit: fixing my lysdexia.
I recently leveled to 80 in a total of 2 days 16 hours /played. That was a hunter from 1-80 though, so 58-80 would be 2 days /played. That was almost exclusively rested, though I think 78-80 was unrested.

You might have to discover it from doing Northrend research, but I got it really early on and I've used it a lot.
You might not see a significant increase in chance as an individual, but (I hope) it might depress the market price a bit.
that is what I am hoping for. I gave up farming for those a while ago. Use to spend an hour flying around to get 1 maybe 2.... Faster to do dailies and buy what you need. Thank god I am flask spec.
I miss Freya Took me 2 months to go through all that lotus AFTER we stopping doing Uld regularly.
Eh, fair enough, hopefully it'll help somewhat. Though I think on my server they were going for around 65g the other day when I bought 4 to make a Flash of the North for my DK. Those things are pretty awesome.
Can someone please explain what Kalgan has done? I've seen lots of hate on him, but I don't know exactly what he did to deserve it...
You know how because GC is the most prominently seen member of the current dev team, everyone hates on him for everything they think is wrong with their class?
Yeah.

GC annoys me sometimes with a few things he's said, but he's so much more forthcoming with info, it's like night and day (even though he's cut back a bit).
Even if I disagree with some things that he has said, I greatly prefer it this way. I think a lot of people have forgotten how it once was.

Was he the one who hated paladins and loved warriors?
This is a very common myth. As I understand it, people believe he hates paladins because he lobbied for them to be nerfed.
In Everquest. That's right, people think his distate for the mechanics of a class in one game translates into distaste for the mechanics of a completely different class in a completely different game which just happens to have the same name.
Also, his complaint in Everquest was legitimate due to balance issues in that game at that time.
Preeeeeeeety sure Crazy Alchemist is trained. I remember using them for skillups because they're that goddamn good.
Add an Alchemist's Stone, and you get more health and mana than a normal runic, in addition to a random elixir. Win!
Also, my pally is an alchemist. Flask of the North for a hybrid = .
Incorrect. Crazy Alchemist pots are from discoveries. I know this because it was the only useful pot for me and it took 6 weeks to finally get it (back when discoveries were 6 days 20 hour cooldowns).

The drop rate of Frost Lotus, from herbs in Northrend, has been increased by 50%.
You're really useful for info, you know that?
omg omg yessss

So... if the drop rate was 2% before (lets say, I have no idea what it was), it's 3% now? Yay.

So it'd go up to around 7 or 8%ish presumably.

It was 5% and now 7.5%. That's actually fairly significant.
