I really need to learn how to ski. I tune skis and snowboards as part of my job, but I haven't been on them in probably 15 years. Debating a new back country ski package for this winter, but seeing as it's almost feb already I'll probably end up investing the money into my new bike .:(

Im very much considering buying a Downhill bike and giving a few competitions a shot. Tis an expensive hobby for sure.

Ever considered enduro/Super D? Your Orange looks like it could be up to the task. Much as I'd like a full-on 8 inch travel bike I can't justify spending 5 grand on a bike I need a truck to haul back up the hill.

My Orange is an ace all-rounder. I can ride it up and down allll day. I recently had a go on a Lapierre DH920, an absolute monster, but the most fun I have ever had going down a ridiculously dangerous hill. I want one.

That bike looks sick as hell. Its sad that we miss out on many of the UK/European brands in canada. At work I recently built a Giant glory 0. Hard to resist just riding it around the shop all day
I live in Texas and have never been skiing or snowboarding, I'd like to go sometime though. The closest I ever got was riding a snowmobile in Alaska during December which was still pretty damn cool.

Some of the European brand names are really well built machines, and they are starting to look pretty sweet too. They used to be very bland.
I do like the look of the Giant DH bikes. An old college friend of mine writes reviews for Mountain Biker UK and his long term test bike was an Iron Horse Sunday Elite downhiller. Gooooorgeous bike.
Skiing is great. I love me some downhill high speed skiing. I finally sort of got the hang of snowboarding this winter as well. Snowboarding poorly is great exercise for the legs, I tell you what.
I think I might be getting more into cross country skiing though. It's a better way to enjoy the scenery I find and there are less ass holes around.

i am going both skiing and to the winter olympics in two weeks or so, should be fun :P. Im looking forward to skiing on skiies that i have owned for 3 years but have only had the time to ski on like ten times. If that trend continues ill just rent the rest of my life ... wish i could be a ski bum.
thankfully i will not be staying in Vancouver w the craziness and lack of snow

you don't do it on a mountain but it's kind of the same right
i went to tahoe a few weeks ago it was cool that was my second time ever going to the west coast for snow related activities and man i am jealous
tomorrow i'm going to one of those shitty mountains in the catskills with my school's ski team/club

High five, mountain biking buddy.

yeah, my personal definition of wealth includes owning a cabin and being able to ski basically whenever i want
that is the dream

i would like that a lot
i had a rich friend who had a house on a mountain
that was cool
then he tried to sleep with our mutual friend's girlfriend and then was a dick about it so our group had a kind of falling out
i miss that house on the mountain
that kid is going crazy though, would be nice to make him sane again

hope it goes well
At either end of the economic spectrum lies a leisure class. To me you have described being a ski bum better than you have described wealth.
