mountains are quite scenic, especially in the winter

some people like to hike them, especially some of my friends, but i do not do much hiking

i like to ride chairlifts up:
Chair_lift.jpg

take one of these down:
alaska-skiing-snowboarding.jpg

but some people prefer to ski, i used to ski when i was little, i would definitely like to learn how to at some point
1682701722_43362e48e4.jpg?v=0

first i need to get good at snowboarding though because i am still fairly mediocre

does anyone else do these things?

do you care to discuss them?

I prefer it in the summer when the snow is gone.

two things i would like are to learn how to start doing some freestyle things, i've done tiny jumps and tiny boxes but i barely know what i am doing

and two maybe to actually do the whole hiking bit once i get good, you know, splitboard and all

I really need to learn how to ski. I tune skis and snowboards as part of my job, but I haven't been on them in probably 15 years. Debating a new back country ski package for this winter, but seeing as it's almost feb already I'll probably end up investing the money into my new bike .:(

Ever considered enduro/Super D? Your Orange looks like it could be up to the task. Much as I'd like a full-on 8 inch travel bike I can't justify spending 5 grand on a bike I need a truck to haul back up the hill.

My Orange is an ace all-rounder. I can ride it up and down allll day. I recently had a go on a Lapierre DH920, an absolute monster, but the most fun I have ever had going down a ridiculously dangerous hill. I want one.

That bike looks sick as hell. Its sad that we miss out on many of the UK/European brands in canada. At work I recently built a Giant glory 0. Hard to resist just riding it around the shop all day :)

Some of the European brand names are really well built machines, and they are starting to look pretty sweet too. They used to be very bland.

I do like the look of the Giant DH bikes. An old college friend of mine writes reviews for Mountain Biker UK and his long term test bike was an Iron Horse Sunday Elite downhiller. Gooooorgeous bike.

Skiing is great. I love me some downhill high speed skiing. I finally sort of got the hang of snowboarding this winter as well. Snowboarding poorly is great exercise for the legs, I tell you what.

I think I might be getting more into cross country skiing though. It's a better way to enjoy the scenery I find and there are less ass holes around.

At either end of the economic spectrum lies a leisure class. To me you have described being a ski bum better than you have described wealth.
