So, I'm looking for some horror movies in the same line as The Poughkeepsie Tapes and Lake Mungo.
Must Have:
Documentary style with interviews outside of the "real footage" or dramatizations. No just handcam cloverfield/paranormal activity junk.
Horror-ish foundation. Thriller category would probably work as well.
Also, you can add in real documentaries that cover creepy occurrences/gruesome acts...But only if it is not Ghosthunters bullshit where it basically ends with "Well, people said this place was haunted and I got some dust recorded on camera. Does that mean this place is haunted? We can't say for sure, but yes."
The problem with Blair Witch is that the "documentary" aspect of it is pretty quickly tossed aside and it then becomes a handcam movie. Lake Mungo, for instance, takes place after the events with interviews from the actors spaced pretty evenly throughout.
But Blair Witch did scare the crap out of me because I went camping the weekend after.
Ok, it is not exactly what you are looking for, but it is a documentary and it does have a thriller foundation. Well, actually a mockumentary, but yeah.
It's called Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. Check it out. Absolutely hilarious.

Of course, it's parody all the way. But it's funny as hell.
Anyone want to beta read a paranormal mystery novella? Here's your chance.
