If your character uses Biotcs the only right answer when it comes to bonus powers is Warp Ammo. Shit is amazing.
I'm a Soldier. How's Warp Ammo compared to Incendiary?
I prefer Warp to Incendiary. Incendiary does wonders on armor and has a chance to stun enemies, but the extra damage only affects health and does damage over time. Warp Ammo is a strait up damage increase that effects the health of both organics and synthetics as well as cutting through Barriers like butter. It also increases you damage against a target that is effected by a biotic power (when their bodies are kinda glowing) so for example you can have Thane use Area Lift and absolutely decimate your targets ala Grunt in the cinematic trailer.
Sounds good. Just not sure I want to give up Geth Shield Boost for it. :?
I just finally maxed out Charge to become Heavy Charge. I hope that Blue Suns merc likes waterfalls. Because that's where he's going to be resting when he finally lands.
Loyalty mission spoiler for Zaeed:
Also side-point, if you save the scientist/researchers/engineers/whatever they are on Zaeed's loyalty mission, aka the Paragon choice, does it cost you his loyalty?
Nope. He just gets emo.

Not if you have enough Paragon points to punch him in the face for being a vengeful jackass.

Well, I gave up Barrier for it and I play as a Vangaurd that charges into battle with the "+ Melee Damage" shoulders :P . I do take quite a bit more damage, but enemy Vangaurds, Scions or anything that just has a health bar don't stand a chance.
I have a question if someone would be kind enough to help me in a non-spoilery fashion. I'm at the part where there is only 1 roster left to recruit:
And I have to go find the Reaper IFF. I've heard that once I pursue that, I'm approaching the point of no return, so I wanted to finish up everything else first. I just want to know if that last roster is someone I recruit later on or if I can do it now.

That last spot is filled during the IFF mission. You'll want to do EVERYTHING else first.

You get the last person during the IFF mission. Then you can do one more quest (you should use this on his loyalty mission) before bad things happen.

A small dose of Grand Theft Auto philosophy seems like the next step for Mass Effect. Keep what makes ME2 strong but add GTA type stuff that would make sense, like someone said earlier. Vehicles, ship customization, more armor/outfits, etc.
Also, this might take too much PC horsepower, but walking around on the streets of Illium or something would be the ultimate world immersion type-thing.
Or flying around the galaxy from a cockpit view. That would be grand.
Oh my god yes. There are so many cool things they could do, but the xbox 360 architecture might limit it a lot. We'll see.

You can't walk around on the streets of Illium, it's too hot. That's why they build everything up so tall, to escape the heat at ground level.

Well then maybe the Citadel. I just want to walk around on some low city-level like Deckard in Blade Runner, with people everywhere. Now that I've played the game for over 40 hours all the city worlds seem too small. I want something epic, even more epic than Citadel in ME1.

You know what else might limit a lot? Time and the fact that they're using UE3, not the RAGE engine.
I would say that atmospherically my biggest complaint is how much smaller the Citadel feels in this one. For the most part streamlining everything makes for a better experience, but the occasional scenic area would have been nice, especially in the large stations like that.

Am I missing something, or is the engineer's drone really, like, the shittiest ability in the game by several orders of magnitude?
The only possible use I can see for it - at least on hardcore - is that maybe after you get it up to level 4 and make it blow up when it dies, it might be useful, depending on how much damage/how large the radius is on the explosion.
At level 3 now, it's an absolute joke of an ability.

Yeah, this, the reduction of squadmate comments, and the removal of squadmate conversations were things that really disappointed me.

This too. Being able to talk to your squad in different areas was awesome in the first one.

I have my squad mates use it because the thing auto-taunts enemies, but I probably wouldn't sink points into it as Shepard.

Yeah, there's nothing as huge as the Citadel in ME1. Granted, that was the only hub world in ME1, and there's 4 in ME2, but I still think there were some missed opportunities here. Omega and Illium are amazing, I would have liked each of them to be bigger and to have some kind of ground floor type environments on Omega to really show how dirty it is. Citadel is cool too but it's mostly just a mall.

I actually like the Citadel in ME2 quite a bit more than the Citadel in ME1. It might not be as big, but it actually feels like a place.
It's noisy and it's filled with people, rather than being some metal walkways with six people and a couple stores.

If it gets farted on while playing on Insanity, it dies, and the explosion doesn't even put a dent in varren armor.

Eh, a lot of the Wards areas in the ME1 Citadel were just as busy. It was only the Presidium topside area that was spacious and not as thick with people, which was pretty breathtaking.

I'm disappointed that there was so little to the Rayya, but then again, you only go there as part of a loyalty quest.

It's worse than Cryo Ammo.
Well, so much for the engineer, then.
Can't really see what that class brings to the table if the drone's so bad, to be honest. The infiltrator's just as good, if not better at ripping through defenses, plus has much higher overall offense.
The engineer really seems to stick out as a sore thumb, if that's the case. Not because there's imperfect class balance, but just because it's so much crappier than everything else.
EDIT: I'm mostly just bummed because I was hoping the class-defining ability would, you know, not suck.

It's basically a "hey, look over there" ability to get enemies to turn around for a second or two. It's pretty useless for anything else.

For insanity, I can only see the soldier, infiltrator, and sentinel being viable. Biotic charge is suicide, drones are useless, and adepts are just too squishy. Also, Vanguards, Engineers, and Adepts just don't have as many options for taking down defenses, and every enemy has defenses.

They're in your ME2 Steam directory.

Not only does the class still own without the ability, but those instances where Charge saves your life are so fucking awesome.

You can't walk around on the streets of Illium, it's too hot. That's why they build everything up so tall, to escape the heat at ground level.
