I'd like to note that the little side conversations sprinkled throughout the hub areas of the game are probably my favorite little addition. Particularly
on Tuchanka, the convo between the Krogan who thinks he's had a son made me all gooey inside.

due to the size of the terminator and his wildly different appearance, it would make sense if he's the core of the ship rather than the ship itself
Looking at this picture, you can see a lot of variation on the reapers, but they all share the same basic theme of aquatic/insectoid appearance with a sloped back.

The "we are legion" comment presumably refers to how many physical reaper shells there are. That's unrelated to the reason Legion the geth is called Legion (essentially because EDI thought it was an apt metaphor for his thousands of running processes.
Legion mentions that each Reaper is a "legion" the same way he is; an aggregate of many software minds in a single hardware body. I'm assuming that the Reapers don't share their programs between each other, though.

Re: Variation
I onyl see two or three variants repeated many times there. That could just imply they, like many fleets have a standard shape for certain ships. I.e. personnel ships may be those tall ones, battleships may be the more streamlined ones and then Big fella's a juggernaut
For all its faults, I think the greatest improvement is the physical actions of NPCs while you're conversing add the most. Everyone in ME1 did that "look right and then meander off screen", but the gestures and facial movement in ME2 really adds the best stuff.
Instead of simple sound files you've got articulated pauses, eye movements and (occasionally) gestures and body language that suggest more meaning than the audio in games can convey. E.g. "Shocking suggestion." Mordin is taken aback, "Doctor-Patient confidentialtiy a sacred trust. Would never dream..." Mordin blinks and subtly smiles before continuing, "...of mockery!" That's probably what helps the emotion (especially comedy) the most and breathes life into the characters.
With that attention to detail in conversations, sometimes you just have to ignore Sheperd leaning on a guardrail ...with his/her elbow a few inches above the actual surface.

reapers
edi tells you the form of the human reaper isn't dictated by the process itself. it takes the form of whatever race is being melted down to form it. no idea where klyka's getting this "pilot" shit from.

Like I said earlier in the thread, though, there's no way of saying that the last major assimilation wasn't of a race of giant space squids. Sentient space squids that each produced tons more grey goo than a single human.
From there, it's just a matter of building reapers to the scale of the races that make them up.
So just finished this finally. This is probably a dumb question, but I was wondering if I choose to continue, I can still do the new game+ right? Do I have to do anything special? Cause I want to see what my squad has to say after the ending.
Yes. If you choose to continue you can import any save you make after that into a new game+.
Thanks, I was wondering how that worked. I tell's ya, the fact that I'm excited about doing a second run shows how great a game this is. This coming from someone who doesn't usually beat single player games (no matter the genre) more then once. Especially, since I screwed up a bit at the end and...
let jacob die by having him go through the vents. Grunt was carried away by the swarm, and jack died cause she wasn't loyal enough. Perhaps I should have had her sit around more often and drink beer in her underpants...
it's also possible that the human reaper represents something completely new for the reapers, since presumably their Plan A (access citadal relay) always worked in the past and the mass human kidnappings only started recently. It's also possible that the protheans are the first "collectors," in the same way that there appears to be only one race of keepers.
I also think the reveals about the geth foreshadows the possibility that the reapers aren't as monolithic a group as has been presented up to this point.

I spot like 6 variations in that picture alone, in the front
the background stuff is most likely just copy pasted models due to the developers probably not wanting to create thousands of designs for blurry barely visible ships in a few seconds long sequence

I was thinking the same thing as far as the Geth update we got this game.
It would be quite the turnabout if the Reapers weren't a unified group, or were somehow less sinister in actual nature than we've been lead to believe to this point.

read my post again. I specifically said that the pilot looks like the species that is being converted. I in no way said that inside every Reaper sits a human like terminator that clicks buttons.

what's most probably being implied is that somehow the consciousness of the victims who are melted down live on inside the reaper in some way. sovereign says "we are each of us a nation." and it would be one way they are offering us "salvation through destruction" as harbinger says.

that adds an unnecessary layer of complexity but hey whatever.

yeah, each reaper is a hivemind made out of the melted people of the ascended species inside him.
So basically it's millions of voices all talking with one voice.

the best thing about this entire conversation is that we have a BioWare dev regularly posting in SE++ but of course he would never tell us if we are in any way close at all

I don't think there is any evidence for your assertion it's a pilot given the size of the reaper itself and that it's identified as a "reaper larvae". Not "reaper pilot".

Even within the realm of sci fi that doesn't make any sense. They just get the tubes full of people goo and when they inject it out of the syringes it takes the shape of a human? What?
Some of the reaper designs are based on squid (like Sovereign), others on crustaceans (like Harbringer). That's a pretty big difference from a biological standpoint, so it's hardly a repetition of the same design. Maybe they've just realized long ago that the anatomies of some creatures are more suitable for spaceships than others. Maybe each time they harvest a dominant intelligent species, they also harvest the most awesome species of aquatic critter to use as their new spaceship exterior? It just isn't mentioned, because chances are nobody notices or cares about a species of shrimp on some remote planet. Given the lack of bunny designs, maybe they pick shapes that the species they have harvested would, on the average, have considered the most frightening and awe-inspiring, just to have a slight psychological advantage.

I decided not to look at any spoilers at all and I'm glad I didn't. I managed to make every team member loyal and everyone survived the suicide mission. I'm surprised so many people seem to have had trouble with No One Left Behind.

No One Left Behind Achievement
That's because the achievement heavily depends on who you pick. A lot of people fail it because they don't pick people who suit the job, they pick their favourite (or least favourite characters). Loyalty is a part of it, but it also heavily depends on the character you pick for the role as well. Plus I do believe there is some randomness thrown in also. For example, a non tech specialist always seems to die in the vents.

Now go post this on the threads for other games and you get a thumbs up
