Let's talk about the people that eat only this kind of stuff
and not this kind of stuff
Because eating that stuff is just
mean, man.
I've been a vegetarian for roughly 5 to 6 months now. At first it was almost a kind of experiment; I was eating less and less meat, so I wanted to see if I could do without it. I cut meat completely out of my diet - I went cold turkey, if you will. However, once I started to read books and watch documentaries on the subject, my vegetarianism became cemented simply for moral reasons. I decided that I don't need to chew on an animal in order to keep my blood sugar levels in check.
One thing I've found great about being a vego, is the vast amount of previously unexplored food that I'm now eating. I'm eating things I
never would have eaten when I was a meateater. Mushrooms, eggplant and sundried tomatoes are pretty much my favourite things.
Of course, I'm not self-righteous about being a vegetarian. Shit, do what you think is right, son.
Who here is a vegetarian/vegan, and why did you choose that kind of lifestyle?
Posts
i'm a vegetarian because it makes my mother happy
I just think that something that tasty is meant to be eaten and enjoyed
what will you eat then!?
Dub are you also skipping out on dairy?
Soy milk + muesli is delicious. I just had some then.
Falafel is the best. The best.
Right now I am eating meat out of necessity. BF pays for the groceries, so I don't want to get lots of food that only I can eat, you know? However, I rarely eat beef or pork, because they make me feel gross. I eat more fish than anything, and I can't remember the last time I ate fish.
I'm lactose intolerant, which is why I chose to be vegan. I went the whole nine, even bought vegan soap and shampoo. I couldn't keep it up, though, because I got seriously iron deficient. I had to start taking iron pills to have normal blood again.
I guess I am an occasional meat eater, if I'm preparing it anyway. I can't bring myself to eat it all the time, though. It's just not...that good.
Oh, and I drink rice milk, because it's infinitely better than soy.
I still eat cheese and I eat the odd egg or two. I've cut down on the amount of cow's milk I drink, of which I've replaced with soy milk. The only time I really drink cow's milk is in my tea or coffee.
i'll probably wander all the way into it at some point
meat is rarely my first choice of sustenance
some of our reading was about this stuff, vegetarianism and the like
a good amount of peter singer of course
but my favorite essay was by richard hare and espoused the merits of what he called "demi-vegetarianism"
after doing all the reading and thinking about it for a while, i decided that i did in fact have a moral obligation to a) cut down on the amount of meat i eat and b) start paying attention to where the meat comes from, generally avoid factory farming etc
but i haven't done any of that because i'm a baddie
Silk is pretty good once you stop expecting to taste milk.
Not a dumb question, really. I don't eat seafood.
i wonder how much of a difference in estrogen there is between soy and normal milk though
Plus, I love the taste of normal milk anyway.
Ok cool. I'm not a massive seafood fan myself, but I don't mind the odd grilled fish or prawn.
Yeah this is a good idea, but hard to carry out in practice a lot of the time I find.
I like the idea of buying my meat that isn't "factory farmed" and is sourced as close to where I am as possible etc etc but man... it ain't easy when the majority of people don't give a flying fuck where they get their 2kg economy pack of c-grade beef mince from.
But I adore beef.
Man, I always go to the market for meat. It's cheaper and tastes orders of magnitude better than supermarket crap, even before you factor in the stuff you said.
google it.

Yeah we have some butchers in the area that sell meat that tastes much better than any average supermarket and butcher, but I still am not sure where the meat comes from exactly... not sure of any weekly markets or anything around here that my sell meat, I'd need to look into it.
i love posts like this
me too

hey i googled it and found a bunch of sources that contradict this plz advise
i tend to spring for organic or free-range meat if it's available, though. it does not have to be an ethical nightmare
