    Brilliant. I didn't see that, I lol'd.

But seriously, those videos basically pushed me over from 'this looks a good game I might upgrade for' to 'oh my fucking god he ripped the fucking roof off, I need this in my life now'.

Plus, the jumping looked solid and not bouncy at all, and running and diving into a lying on the ground position is extremely cool.

Jesus Christ you do realize you don't need Vista and DX10 to play the game and have it look good. Most of the media shown until recently has been in DX9. It still looks fantastic.

Well here at least the Cry makes sense. Seeing as the the aliens are freezing everything, Crysis would logically be linked to Cryo (icy, cold)

So it's a CRYsis. Because stuff is getting FROZEN. Nudge nudge, wink wink.

Not bad, but what would the explanation of Far Cry's name be, then?

I don't buy the thought of the game's name coming from the engine... yeah, Unreal is on the Unreal engine, but the game was named first. I dunno, the English major in me is just getting tired of "cry" being slapped on everything whether it needs it or not. But I've said that already.
    far cry

    noun
    1. distance estimated in terms of the audibility of a cry; "it's a far cry from here"
    2. a disappointing disparity; "it was a far cry from what he had expected"

    Take your pick?

I've posted 2 times in here, or so I thought, and both posts have disappeared. Anyway, both times I had suggested that I just can't comprehend how a game could have real time destruction like this. The guy being punched through a wall looks too good. I just don't see how it's possible for an engine to process something that well.

It does. Everything about the game screams at my PC and makes it cry. There is no way I will be able to run this.

And by run I mean in gamers terms. Running a game is like 30+ solid fps at medium - high settings.

Meh, I'll just get the 360 version.

Who else forsees multiplayer matches where some guy powers up his strength all the way, jumps like 30 feet in the air and gets hit by a helicopter?

This thread has made me LOL a great many times.

If that put the pilot to sleep bit is true, then it will answer my question that I have always asked with every bad ass game that has come out, "yeah you can blow it up, but what else can i do?"

Options, the next level in gaming.

Now about these North Koreans, are they going to be grunts like you or are they going to be like the North Korean Elite in "Shiri"?

Most of those graphics look zomg awesome, but I have one question: Why is it, despite all the neat graphical stuff modern engines can do, that the ground still looks like shit?

This game isn't the only one that makes this mistake, but it seems like such a simple thing that you should never see a blurry or pixelated ground texture in a modern game. Most games' ground textures have pixel shading now, which looks nice and gives the ground features depth, but it's like we took a step backwards in texture resolution in the process.

I want to be able to rip trees out of the ground and smash people with them. Too bad that's probably not going to be in there.

The "particle beam" thing looks cool though. It let's you freeze the water vapor around you and throw ice chunks at people.

I'll buy the game this summer. My computer meets the "two year old machine" mark. It'll likely run on nothing but the lowest settings, but I'm unlikely to put down any money towards a new 'puter anytime soon.

    ...

Or maybe not. It does look good, but my priority is still Hellgate. Trying to limit my gaming expenses this year to as little as possible. One game, perhaps two.

They said it'll run fine on a three year old computer. One of the developers said they ran it on an AMD X2 3500, 2Gb of memory, and I believe it was an ATI X1950 Pro, at nearly all settings and flawlessly. They've including a lot of options that you can change with it. There's even sliders for the depth of field and motion blur.

"Personally, I would say to run Crysis with high settings; you need a machine that has a card that was made in the last six months. Our goal though is to make it really playable and look good on machines two-years-old from our ship date."
