players are able to customize their armor and weapons in real time to confront an ever-changing enemy and a harsh, dynamic environment.
Real time armor changing? PS3 exclusive confirmed!
Brilliant. I didn't see that, I lol'd.
But seriously, those videos basically pushed me over from 'this looks a good game I might upgrade for' to 'oh my fucking god he ripped the fucking roof off, I need this in my life now'.
Plus, the jumping looked solid and not bouncy at all, and running and diving into a lying on the ground position is extremely cool.
Going to take more than Crysis to make me pay Microsoft for fucking Vista. So fucking annoyed that they require Vista to use DX10. Fuck them. I'll be holding out as long as humanly possible.
Jesus Christ you do realize you don't need Vista and DX10 to play the game and have it look good. Most of the media shown until recently has been in DX9. It still looks fantastic.

Well here at least the Cry makes sense. Seeing as the the aliens are freezing everything, Crysis would logically be linked to Cryo (icy, cold)
So it's a CRYsis. Because stuff is getting FROZEN. Nudge nudge, wink wink.
Not bad, but what would the explanation of Far Cry's name be, then?
I don't buy the thought of the game's name coming from the engine... yeah, Unreal is on the Unreal engine, but the game was named first. I dunno, the English major in me is just getting tired of "cry" being slapped on everything whether it needs it or not. But I've said that already.
far cry
noun
1. distance estimated in terms of the audibility of a cry; "it's a far cry from here"
2. a disappointing disparity; "it was a far cry from what he had expected"
Take your pick?

(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.
I've posted 2 times in here, or so I thought, and both posts have disappeared. Anyway, both times I had suggested that I just can't comprehend how a game could have real time destruction like this. The guy being punched through a wall looks too good. I just don't see how it's possible for an engine to process something that well.
If that put the pilot to sleep bit is true, then it will answer my question that I have always asked with every bad ass game that has come out, "yeah you can blow it up, but what else can i do?"

Now about these North Koreans, are they going to be grunts like you or are they going to be like the North Korean Elite in "Shiri"?
I hear the gameplay gets really interesting later one, especially with something called "Thanagarian Snare Beast" inside the alien ship in the third act.
I hope all this stuff doesnt end up being gimmicky and not really important. Punching guys through a shack should be more then just cool and useless. It should be a viable way to play the game. :P
That punch-through-wall screenshot would be pretty much impossible in an actual game, no?
No, the video even shows him do something similar.
Which one? I couldn't find any in the OP except for when he drives the truck through the building, and that is just the individual walls tipping over. Is there something I'm missing?
Most of those graphics look zomg awesome, but I have one question: Why is it, despite all the neat graphical stuff modern engines can do, that the ground still looks like shit?
This game isn't the only one that makes this mistake, but it seems like such a simple thing that you should never see a blurry or pixelated ground texture in a modern game. Most games' ground textures have pixel shading now, which looks nice and gives the ground features depth, but it's like we took a step backwards in texture resolution in the process.
I'll buy the game this summer. My computer meets the "two year old machine" mark. It'll likely run on nothing but the lowest settings, but I'm unlikely to put down any money towards a new 'puter anytime soon.
...
Or maybe not. It does look good, but my priority is still Hellgate. Trying to limit my gaming expenses this year to as little as possible. One game, perhaps two.
Do you have any idea how kick ass these new bangs and whistles would be for a game city in an urban environment!?!?! Localized damage! Oh how my heart sings!!!

If Crysis doesn't have settings that look and run at least as good as Far Cry then they have failed in some way.

I'm fairly sure the Crysis devs have quite literally gone on record as saying "Man, fuck people with old machines."

They said it'll run fine on a three year old computer. One of the developers said they ran it on an AMD X2 3500, 2Gb of memory, and I believe it was an ATI X1950 Pro, at nearly all settings and flawlessly. They've including a lot of options that you can change with it. There's even sliders for the depth of field and motion blur.
"Personally, I would say to run Crysis with high settings; you need a machine that has a card that was made in the last six months. Our goal though is to make it really playable and look good on machines two-years-old from our ship date."

And by run I mean in gamers terms. Running a game is like 30+ solid fps at medium - high settings.
Hey.
Screw you.
We ran Daggerfall on a 386 at about 10 fps, and WE WAS THANKFUL.
Who else forsees multiplayer matches where some guy powers up his strength all the way, jumps like 30 feet in the air and gets hit by a helicopter?
I would be willing to have that as a micropayment.

I wonder how awesome how it would be if a game using these photo-realistic textures/models also used the gore engine Soldier of Fortune did.
However, Gore + the power to rip people apart WITH YOUR HANDS is pretty appealing.
I'd rather have less detailed faces capable of more expression than one super detailed one with only a
Dont you mean Alien Ice Crygens?
People forget though unreal isnt quite as stupid sounding.
I never asked for this!
You had 10fps? I had to run police quest 2 on an xt at 5 fps. YOU HAD IT EASY.
Maybe I can hold off on getting a new PC until 2008. As it stands I'm doing pretty well with my X800 Pro and my 3400+ AMD

The "particle beam" thing looks cool though. It let's you freeze the water vapor around you and throw ice chunks at people.
We had to compile compilers without a compiler so we could play Angband with MUD.
Yes. Angband ran on mud. The same cannot be said for any other game.

i've been itching to see what my baby can do
I'm almost positive they said this would never go to consoles because they don't have anywhere close to the amount of RAM that the game needs.
