Does anyone else think that items are way too expensive? Not the general quest reward items, but weapons and clothes and stuff. I have about 40 echoes worth of stuff, but all that can buy me is maybe two stat-ups. It just seems kinda silly that 10 hours of grinding might get you 20 level-ups and enough cash to buy one more.
I think it's alright. It's not like an MMO where you're constantly upgrading. I do think that some things are overpriced (the Kifers, for example), but you're not expected to maintain a certain level of bonus just to progress. Save up your money so that when you get to an Ambition challenge in the high levels that's 2 or 3 levels above you you can snag something to make the difference seem like it's only 50 change points away instead of 150.
I mean, in the 50s, you can turn 10 actions into about 5-6 echoes if you keep repeating a straightforward challenge with a decent reward.
After buying a weasel and a goldfish, I've just been trying to horde my items as best I can. Never know when you'll need those bottles of Greyfields will end up being useful, after all, and I'd hate to have to buy back stuff at twice the price at which it sold.
On another note, if anyone wants to play some chess or exchange nightmares, my door is always open.
(I really should look into getting that latch fixed.)
I am a patient man, but I have to say the lag on actions during the daytime hours is becoming intolerable. Love the game, but having to wait several minutes for results to load--or even a minute or two to register a click regarding the opportunity cards--is getting out of hand.
I have to say I would have given up long ago if I wasn't able to get my gameplay in whilst America sleeps.
Also the grinding to a halt of my ambition has been overcome by making the Eater of Chains storyline my new pseudo-ambition.
Oh Hey, the carnival is open to the public.
My bizzare anti-social work schedule means I play late at night/early morning [from a pacific point of view] and thus the game hums along without skipping a beat.
Due to hasty last second travel prep I'm attempting to be awake around noon [why is the sun so bright? Who is it trying to impress?] I now see the pain of a slow-mo EB game and it is despair worthy.

This is why I rarely get in the full 70 turns a day anymore. I can't really play without slow down until 8 pm (MST) reliably and I go to bed about 11 pm (MST) most days because I have Stats way too early in the morning. And the slow down for my area starts at 9 am (MST).

I live on the other side of the world, so I play during America's off peak hours.
On-topic, I can't remember who I sent invites for supper, but the soup's getting cold, guys.
I know that nobody actually cares, but if they did I would tell them that my maths tells me it would take a bit under 9 weeks, playing optimally and never failing checks, with no use of fate, to bring all your stats up to the current max of 80.

That assumes what, 79 actions/day?

Edit: I dunno how many times I have to say this but I would pay massive amounts of money for an XBL/PSN compatible browser-based game like this, especially if there was a way to root it in the menu when you press the home key
In the middle of waiting for a game to install? Play a couple of actions, boom you're done, hey game's installed, sweet

So what's everybody up to, these days?
I'm still attempting to coax my fine simian companion to play cards.
Having hit the content block on my ambition I've been pumping Dangerous through the roof (currently 49+8) for the 'Eater of Chains' opportunity card storyline. I might have it high enough now but I don't know as I lost the card I was saving when I got too curious at hall of mirrors.
I need to regain the ruthless quality for my ambition related mirror, but also want to know if exploring them is something I do or don't want to do. I fear they may reset the ambition, has anyone tried them?
I'm still attempting to coax my fine simian companion to play cards.
I've virtually dropped off the map, having reached the current cap on my ambition. I used to put in at least 50 actions a day, and I've put in maybe 40 since the weekend. I've got Shadowy at 67 (although 10 of that is from gear).
I'm glad to see it's not just me who lost drive at the ambition end then. I'm only making one or two visits a day now as opposed to the clock watching of before.
I'm dead, and apparently I will stay that way for a while, since I keep making poor choices. Sad thing is, I was going to drink a potion to reduce my wounds and drank the wrong one and the next "onwards" I fell over and died. Now the boatman is being a priss and doesn't want to turn the boat around.

I play, just not as often. It's a combination of mid term week and only being about to play between 8pm and bedtime without massive lag.

I'm around 35 in both Persuasive and Watchful now. I think this is the point where grinding the levels for ambition is starting to get a little tougher and more tedious.
Still thoroughly enjoying every new storylet I come across, of course.
But really, there is no way to be heartened unless you were able to follow this burning, all-consuming quest to its inevitable bitter end. That it taunts me with its To Be Continued... status is maddening, but has my curiosity piqued.
Plus there are all the storylets to complete for the stats that I've neglected as an intriguing and shrewd gentleman.
It's nice to see so many other seekers of the game.
Two? Maybe three? You're on the cusp anyway and I'll double spoiler this to make sure you really want to read the specifics:
For real though. You're close. Don't read this next part.
It ends with you bribing the bishop with candles and him saying he owes you some names of the other players.
These narrative cliff-hangers do make me wish we could pursue other ambitions. It's not like there are whole lot of options here to start a new character (yes, yes, make a new Twitter account, I know). That said, there are stats to raise, storylets to complete, and new parts of the city to visit.

I'll go post a suggestion for being able to pursue secondary Ambitions once you have your current maxed out
Anyone wanna help me with my nightmares. I am at 7. @ttraider82
Send me a request
On a related note, spending appallings for nightmare reduction makes nightmares into a non-worry, it's so easy it's practically breaking the game's difficulty

How do I spend appalling secrets like that? (I assume that is what you said).

Me too, Ambition 10 right now in that same...ambition, where are you?
Although I'm taking a break trying to pump Watchful until I can spend Appalling Secrets for lowering Nightmares (currently my biggest issue)
Also, I just got some new Lodgings which are a lot better than my previous
