What? Sometimes I just don't quite feel like playing 'em on the DS.
Even if Squeenix and Nintendo and whoever else involved were game (they wouldn't be, ever), no one will ever pay $quare prices for a 16-bit RPG that they could just download the ROM for for free.
What? Sometimes I just don't quite feel like playing 'em on the DS.
I know, it just gave me a double-take to see NES / SNES games on there.
I mean in theory that shouldn't be a problem, SNES emulators have been around for more than a decade now. But there's no way Nintendo would allow it. If Nintendo ever intended to allow PC users to play SNES games on the PC, they would have made their own store with their own prices. As it is, Nintendo don't have their own official PC / SNES emulator software, and likely have no intention of ever allowing SNES games on the PC platform in that manner. And that's leaving aside the fact that those particular games weren't made by Nintendo.
EDIT: I mean personally I wouldn't mind seeing the Phoenix Wright games available as DD somewhere. But I seriously doubt that's ever going to happen, at least not for the PC.
Hey, I recognize the limitations and unlikelyness involved, that can't stop me from dreaming.
If I want Steam to be able to give me a pony, damnit, I will dream about the day I can spend $5 for Steam to give me a pony!
But seriously, they've already hooked me up with X-Com. Getting Mechwarrior 2, X-Wing/TIE Fighter (which are possible given the Lucasarts love, right?) and Crusader: No Remorse would be the day I paid them whatever they wanted.
Edit; the two FF's there also just came to me as I thought back to many of the games that I really hit hard during my formative years. Short of adding Civilization 1, Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger to that list, it's pretty comprehensive.

Remember the Atari games compilation released on PC? It's possible! All you have to do is wait for Nintendo to go bankrupt, and then wait another thirty years for a collection of their classic first party titles.
Wow, steam has to prove that humanity exists in order for you to log in. That's pretty deep. This is probably the kind of error that results in skynet.

I was thinking more along the lines of contacting Support and them sending over Deckard and a Voight-Kampf machine.
But it lead me to finding out Worms is coming to Steam, so that's pretty rad.
What?!

Hell, published or developed, as the majority of the MW games were developed my. Fasa interactive, who were bought by MS. 2 was published by activision, I think.
Gabe Newell: Okay, promised the intern after loosing the bet that for 1 day, pay 5 dollars and register your physical game with steam (stupid Saints with their onside kick). Lets see how this goes.
8:00am $
GN: Not bad
8:30am $$
GN: Meh, not too bad. Whoops gotta go to yoga and listen to pitches and generally be the boss
3:30pm
GN: so lets see what my drunken bet has won me.
GN:Holy shit! The fat has flown from my body in shock!
Yeah, there is a great big box of games in my storage room that would get the steam treatment if it was offered. It would basically be the penultimate DLC for games that came out years ago.
For crying out loud guys, this isn't complicated to understand.
In order for your scenario to take place, Valve would have to go to every publisher and request that every game they ever released be allowed to be registered on Steam, which they'd almost certainly refuse.
It's called an email. It's not too hard to write one up.
Offer the framework for the terms, attach some marketing data to show the proven ability of Steam to drive sales of old games, and tell them its their job to furnish the specifics of the contract that meets the general terms Steam offered.
And guess what? I own a website for distributing independent music. It's not impossible to get people to sell their product on your site. You'd be amazed how many positive replies I've received and all I had to do was....
...wait for it...
... ask!

My reaction was closer to "what the fuck kind of bullshit is going on in the Steam thread now?" I was not disappointed. Or, rather, I was very disappointed in all of you but also amused.

I can't wait. Day one purchase. I love worms. Holy hand grenade!

I understand that but seriously dude, indie music is pretty different to asking for the entire back catalogues of major games publishers for you to distribute.
Yes there's no harm in asking. Thing is I'm certain Valve has already been asking whichever publisher cares to listen. Ultimately, it's their call.
Gabe Newell is personally responsible for every single thing related to Steam. He could push the big red button that says "Link every game to Steam" but he's too busy eating hoagies and prodding the TF2 team with sharp sticks.

1. Microsoft doesn't own the rights anymore to my knowledge.
2. Have any MS games even come out on steam? Published I mean.

All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.

A couple dollars more than you want, but hey, that's the price you pay for the inclusion of a Demon-steed, I guess.
I tried just "Grim" but it came up with Warhammer, PoP: Warrior Within and "Ghost Master"
Ghost Master is pretty good for the price it's at.
I have a really vague memory of this game being reviewed in PC Gamer UK years ago :P

Valve are clearly lazy. They don't have every game ever and they don't allow you to register all your games. It's their fault and nobody elses.

It's the only reason that makes sense.
Well I just bought Ghost Master.
