If I were only going to snag one of the Hitman games, which one is the best? I don't feel like paying 17 for the bundle. Thinking I'll get DE1 and one of the Hitman games. I've never played the Hitman series before so I don't really have much knowledge of it.
I hear Tube has a really in-depth opinion of Hitman 2, you should ask him about it.
I'd like to hear that.

It should go without saying, but disputing the status of the Hitman game that is not the original and precedes Hitman: Contracts as the worst game ever created is a jailable offence.
I'll probably grab The Last Remnant if it comes up as something.
I go it last time it was on sale. Its really good on the PC, 500 times better than console. The graphics are smoother and Square seems to have improved a lot of the movement animations in the PC version. I got it for $10 and steam and enjoyed it quite a lot, it has a lot of content and a fun combat system. The story is "meh" and the main character is a bit of a drag, but thats just Jrpg's really.
Impersonator and I just ran through the first few levels of decay. Unfortunately, the dedicated server I was running crashed twice on the same level (Once when we were near the end) and when that happens you have to start over at the beginning. Still, it was fun. We'll have to pick it up again later this week.
Yeah, there's nowhere near that many headcrabs in any of the other half-life campaigns. Yeesh.
Is it just me or is it harder to kill them in 1, compared to 2? I also don't remember corpses blocking the blocks and chopping them up is quite a pain.

Yeah, headcrabs are a much bigger pain in 1, especially on hard. Take like 3 pistol shots to kill, and don't die to a single crowbar whack like in 2.

I never am sure what the goal is of a mac vs pc debate. I always imagine each side is trying to convince the other to throw out their computer.
My goal is to stop needless shitting on others' personal preference. All Mac users aren't annoying hipsters sitting at Starbucks and wearing a beret. Similarly, all Windows users aren't fatties who spend 20 hours a day playing Counterstrike, and all Linux users aren't horrible neckbeards who get their rocks off writing custom mouse drivers.
Hell, I only run Ubuntu on my netbook because the 8GB HDD and (I think) 1GB of RAM just wasn't cutting it for what WinXP expected me to do. And I only got familiar with Macs in college because I like to sit in the same place every day and nobody ever wanted to sit at the G4.

There does exist a very useful "tactics" screen that basically tells the party members not directly in your control what to do. You can set your healer to heal an ally once their health is less than X% of their total. I've heard of people using just tactics and playing the game in real-time, but for most, I think DA is heavy on the pause action.
That said, the story and characters are beautifully crafted.
Actually, it's a pretty common thing to not listen to customers. On a whole, people are stupid. If you've ever done design work or SaaS work, you're very aware of this. However, what is important is to have the perception that you listen to your customers. If you actually listened, you would end up with one piece of software that is configurable to all hell, has a bulleted list of features a mile long, features every piece of eye candy ever, and does nothing well.
More companies should do what HiRez is doing for Global Agenda: instead of wading through huge piles of crap about "nerf this, buff that" on official forums, they have frequent polls with "What do you want to see for the game?" and then a bunch of fairly broad options to vote for, sometimes with multiple choices.
Then they make new polls with more details about what people want from the "winning" votes in the first poll.
This is all part of Valve's master plan to erase the PC gamer. Along with it, they erase the Mac gamer. Both are replaced with the Steam gamer.
Valve to make first operating system intended solely for gaming! SteamOS coming Fall 2013! (2019 Valve time)
Honestly? I only use Windows to put icons on my desktop to click to launch games. OS X is what I do my real work in.
I'd be all hot and bothered about a SteamOS.
I'm actually surprised it hasn't been done yet. (Though I guess consoles already fill that niche)
I imagine an OS, built from the ground up to support gaming, would be extremely efficient compared to Windows or OS X. Probably wouldn't be popular enough to justify the investment though.
How about a portable gaming OS? You just put it in a USB drive or a memory card and you're all set. You just turn the computer on and make it boot from the former or the latter.

Nah, a "gaming OS" wouldn't work out. Having to support a huge range of possible hardware alone would negate any advantages. And assuming it's a third party that's going to invest in this, I really doubt they can provide the type of tools and APIs that a company like Microsoft supplies, let alone convince developers into the fold to develop for it. Anyway, the overhead of a "big" operating system like Windows and Mac OSX isn't really an issue when it comes to a modern gaming-quality PC, and certainly not enough to justify the hassle of having reboot into a specialty gaming operating system to get your game on, and then reboot back to be able do actual work.

Although I guess the good news is that there is no way Square could release them now without patching the hell out of them so they work on modern OSes, so all the people who were struggling to get them working on XP/Vista/7 might be in luck soon.

That would be brilliant, if people weren't abandoning the game wholesale already for lack of content.
I'm hoping that if I'm running a bootcamped Mac with STEAM already set up on the Windows side of things that all I need to do is download steam.dmg, install it, point it at my existing STEAM folder, and have it go "I see you already have games X, Y, and Z installed that have Mac versions, let me download the binaries for that and save you having to re-download a few dozen gigs."

Looking for a DX:HR OnLive code for my kid brother.
Can trade TF2 items or whatever else you're interested in. PM me.
I am personally hoping to pick up Last Remnant and Gyromancer, but I sure as well won't pay more than $10 for the former. I'd better see some 75% off sales, Steam!

i was doing the beta for the new interface, and the Just Cause 2 demo was freezing at 76% every time, so i decided to opt out of the beta
now i can't fucking connect to steam at all. it says it's down.
fuck this is stupid.
I'd like to hear that.

edit: I hope Kane and Lynch don't go on sale, otherwise, I will be sad my credit card does not arrive till Friday/monday.

Also, what's up with the headcrabs?

Can you register these games in Steam?

This is the best of questions.
Maybe someone could put some info in the OP?
Then I bought both the Deus Ex games individually. Never have played them. (probably still wont for awhile, but hey, $5 apiece is hard to pass up.)
Dont give a crap about Hitman though.
So what else does Square/Eidos have in store for us this week? Tomb Raider Day is a given.
Looking at the list of what they have on Steam...
Thief Deadly Shadows
Just Cause
Battlestations Midway/Pacific
Last Remnant
Batman: AA
Gyromancer
bunch of other stuff.
Probably too soon for a 50% off sale on Supreme Commander 2 huh?

I do the same thing, only with an iMac. :^:

I never got around to playing Legend, and my only options now are getting it for the PC or the PSP.

I've always wanted Mac users to be gamers, and to learn the love of Steam. So I have nothing to debate about now, which is awesome.

Getting started with BATTLETECH: Part 1 / Part 2
I fail to understand. Is one an expansion that's already included in the GOTY edition or something?
Check the pricing.
