Holden interviewed Leon in LA at the start of the movie. Not sure what you're referring to. But it's a parody anyways.

Oh I thought he was in space. Maybe it was some other movie with runaway robots that I was thinking of.

Oh, okay. Was there something that made you think he was in space? I'm just wondering if my art was unclear.

I guess I'm breaking with the spirit of black and white noir imagery. But heavy shadows and blood spatter are pretty apropos.

Do image manipulated kind of stuff count in these threads?

Disclaimer: I do not make the rules.

If you're talking about adjusting levels and filters and such in Photoshop, I wouldn't bother unless you took the photo yourself specifically for this challenge. There is certainly a place for photography in the AC, but the challenge threads are for original works, so I wouldn't post anything in here if you can't say it's 100% yours.

Reminder: I don't make the rules.

I don't see how a manipulated image would ever be considered a crime noir comic panel, but i'm all up for being proven wrong.

Not to be a douche, but it never hurts to credit the artist you're copying.

Mr Pockets, that Rocketeer is awesome. I'm currently re-reading the remastered/re-colored Rocketeer comics, and they're just goddamn beautiful.

I retuned my original cuz I didn't like it. Hope to have it up tonight but that requires me wiping my hard drive, reinstalling xp, photoshop, scanning it and then inking... thinking it might be thursday or friday before I get it done.

Yeaaa....I figured Noir as just images with stark black and white contrast. Little to no grey scale. I need to update my brain to what "Noir" really is.

Oh man, it's been a LONG time. Remember that "Create an animal combo art challenge" thread? I whored myself out a lot a few years ago with Butterfly Sharks and Blender Bears. Randomly, my forum wanderlust returns and...blah blah blah, words. Enjoy an attempt at Red/Black Noir that kind of went in a direction I'm not sure I like. On the plus side, there's a flaming bum in it.

Edit: A goofy alt version that had a photoshop layer thrown over it as a test. I suck at digital craft, but my splatter inks are sometimes fun if you play with the grain filter a bit. And thus I kind of randomly share.

This is funky and interesting - I like what you've done. It's compelling enough to make me want to follow a story in this style (although I didn't care much for your Photoshopped version).

My only crit is that I sometimes see him with an eye, and sometimes with a cigarette in his ear - I think it's because he's holding a lighter (even though I know it was because he set the bum on fire).

Nonetheless, this is plenty noir - dark and twisted, even.

    oh hi
    first post around here
I'm a 15 year old artist/cartoonist (well... I'm becoming one at the very least). Decided to finally make an account here and follow it up by a submission for this very contest. I was inspired by a comic called "Blacksad", an anthropomorphic noir comic (please don't refer to it as "furry" I'd say blacksad is as far from furries as it could possibly be, though still remaining within the anthropomorphic animal borders, do as you please though)

    here's my submission
