    Shortest fight ever.

Scott beat the entire X-Men team twice by himself, he can handle Wolverine without getting a scratch on him unless the power of plot has Wolverine reflect optic blasts from his claws ptew ptew. That was probably one of the best scenes in Ultimate X-Men, a one panel fight between Cyclops and Wolverine in the arctic.

Yeah that fight really is pretty one-sided, bearing in mind that Cyclops just has to look at Wolverine for a minute or so and all his flesh is gone.

In the AoA Scott blasted Logan's hand off in such a way it didn't regenerate in 1.50 seconds. Would be kinda cool to see him do something similiar in Schism.

We need a poll to decide what body part needs to be vaporized.

Also in that same fight, Logan got one of Scott's eyes making him fit his name a bit more. I could honestly see that being more likely to happen.

Plus Wolverine's healing factor is so ridiculous now, he'd just end up regrowing the hand without adamantium on it or something. One bone claw and one adamantium... Not sure I see that happening.

Not sure if Cyke in 616 can bust adamantium with the optic blast. My dork sense says that it cant, and they have steadily increased Logan's healing factor to mind boggling levels over that last ten to fifteen years to bring his power levels in line with his popularity. My prediction is a contrived sequence to prevent a clear winner, because the nature of their respective abilities is that a definitive ending would have to be lethal.

Juan Bobillo goes a bit off with character designs sometimes. When he's drawn Thing in the past, he's less a bunch of rocks and more smooth concrete with no edges. And Beast should only have four fingers, not five.

In regards to Cyclops and his power, I think one of the Marvel trading card series (remember those and how cool they were?) mentioned he can punch a hole through adamantium.

Then again a full visor off blast couldn't bring down Namor last week.

So Deodato's been messing it up in Secret Avengers, too?

I mean, it's not that hard, do they not have a character model sheet to send to artists? It's one of the key things since Beast got his secondary mutation, he had to learn how to type and use his gadgets all over again.

I am just saying that him turning into a big rocky dude is fine (though I always wondered why he couldn't turn back when everyone else could, but whatever).

But if he does turn into a rocky dude losing a finger just seems really weird. Like, I can't think of any reason why that finger would go missing, at all.

Maybe his pinky and ring fingers fused together, to make mega-finger.

Also, I don't really see a problem with that Beast, other than that he looks really pissed off. Which seems appropriate, given the circumstances.

But, I've been partial to Bobillo's work since She-Hulk.

X-Men Legacy #249, it goes very similar to Uncanny #349 in a way:
Rogue hooks up with Magneto for a night, in a kind of hit it and quit type thing with their sexual tension (Jeff and Britta!). Then she will probably go back to Gambit

I noticed that in Uncanny, but also in the Schism prelude stuff Wolverine is being all grumpy, on top of the current 3rd X-Men book having Wolverine and Cyclops seem to bicker more.

They need to get back to being drinking buddies:

True, but it was a little more 'oh Scott, you boy scout' rather than "Scott Summers is a dick, seriously".

The whole X-23 traveling around the world "finding herself" thing is okay, but it kind of feels like it is dragging along lately.
Ok, we get it, Laura had a horribly fucked up life and somehow still manages to care about other people, which is awesome. So when is this actually going to lead somewhere other than "X-23 saves a bunch of cloned teenagers by killing a bunch of people and then feels sad" or "X-23 stops genetic experiments on children by killing a bunch of people and then feels sad" or even "X-23 helps some crazy vampire chick feed without hurting innocents and then feels sad. Shockingly, no one dies (yet)."?

I like the character, but I think she works better in a group where she can play off others while still showing some development. Actually, her and Vamp Jubilee teaming up to do whatever has the potential to be hilarious.

So I just finally finished up the Whedon/Cassaday Astonishing X-men Omnibus, and I personally was floored. I thought the art was some of the best stuff I've seen in a while, and the story was (mostly) pretty fantastic. After that I was really excited to continue the Astonishing run, and I've got to say, I'm pretty disappointed. I'm not a huge fan of the art, I don't think it's the penciling as much as it is the coloring. I'm on issue 28 right now, and so far the writing is pretty sub par, and a bit hard to follow at points. I decided last night that I was going to start "over" with The New X-men, and I bought the first collection on Amazon. Was this a good choice?

Also, back to Astonishing, I know it's an older series and might not be clear in anybody's head, but where the hell did Colossus go after
Kitty got lost in space? After Ellis took over, Colossus just kind of disappeared, are they going to explain that at some point?

Run away screaming from Ellis's run.

Colossus didn't disappear at all. Ellis just chose to focus on a different team make-up. He was very much so present in all of teh other X-Titles aside from Astonishing.

Yeah Astonishing is pretty amazing. It was one of the big parts that rekindled my interest in all things X-Men. Even though I am of the opinion that any "X-Men vs. aliens" story is groan-worthy (just cause I don't care that much about any x-verse aliens) I still loved the whole thing.
Even the "Return of Breakworld" arc in Uncanny is pretty good so far.

Fake edit: Well, okay the recent Shi'Ar stuff wasn't too bad.

Uncanny X-Men to end with #544

This just seems like a dumb idea, take the one book Marvel never renumbered and do it now because of Schism. I mean, people didn't find it hard to follow with #94 being a new point, or even #281 with the gold team or #394 with Casey's run. Hell, they didn't even do this when Seagle and Kelly were on the books, and there was pretty much no X-Men team because they literally had nothing in the mansion.

On the other hand, if Greg Land leaves the new book, that might be worth it.

    Hey hey

The Starjammers were cool in War of Kings and Realm of Kings. Havok, Polaris and Marvel Girl are more interesting there than they ever were on Earth. The only X-Men Trades I own are in regarding to things in SPAAAAACE with Vulcan and the Shi'Ar and whatnot.

But in general yes stay on Earth muties.

Also I never get the big hoo haa about re-numbering. It's good as a collector because you can have complete series, it's good as a new reader because it provides a great place to start (I read comic books mostly because New Avengers essentially started off the last five or six years of Marvel), and it's good for Marvel because they make more money. Sure yeah if things are getting retconned like they are at DC I can see why people might be upset, but stuff like New Avengers vol 1 finishing and New Avengers Vol 2 starting don't seem to be a problem for me at all.
