I would say renumbering isn't a problem if you just run the series out without then reverting back to #600 or so in a year, by adding the new title and some other title to the tally.
If you want a place to start, Marvel just released a third X-Men book last year.
Commenting on Twitter, Gillen humorously stated that "When I joined Uncanny after S.W.O.R.D. I thought 'There's no way I can get THIS cancelled'. But there are no limits to my power."
This just seems like a dumb idea, take the one book Marvel never renumbered and do it now because of Schism. I mean, people didn't find it hard to follow with #94 being a new point, or even #281 with the gold team or #394 with Casey's run. Hell, they didn't even do this when Seagle and Kelly were on the books, and there was pretty much no X-Men team because they literally had nothing in the mansion.
On the other hand, if Greg Land leaves the new book, that might be worth it.

Who knows what shit will be going on

Maybe they're cutting Uncanny off just long enough to trick Land into leaving.

I was about to think Marvel would split up Emma and Scott just for a fake sense of tension, but now I think that's not supposed to be an accurate picture of the teams. (because if so Scott's team would seriously kick Wolverine's ass)
the girl behind Scott and Storm, is that Sentinel?
Hmmmm.... It's only a promo, but if the sidings on that are any indication, this should be pretty interesting event. Magneto and Cyclops is understandable, but Iceman too? And Emma and Charlie siding with Wolverine? Is Wolverine gonna be leading the murderous X-force and the (for lack of a better word) pacifist X-men? Or is the Schism going to be deeper than "Your all 'brotherhoody' now so we're gonna bail"?

So, I have a random X-Men question now that it's available digitally: is Brubaker's Deadly Genesis any good?
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
(oh mamma mia mamma mia)
seriously though it's garbage
Yikes, glad I asked! May I ask why it's so terrible, though? I tend to like Brubaker.

It's the very definition of a BS retcon to contintuiy, it kills off an established character in the second issue (though this is one of Brubaker's most common themes in his writing), the villain isn't compelling, and it just gives the sense that no one thought it through other than to address a dangling plot from 15 years ago that really didn't need to be answered.
I actually liked it as a whole. Some parts were silly, and yeah, the whole retcon was unnessesary, but I kinda liked it.
Also, it informs what leads to the "Rise and Fall of the Shi'Ar Empire" arc in later Uncanny X-Men (or Legacy, can't remember), which was also not bad, considering my distaste for "muties in space" arcs.

Pretty much yeah. Of course, she plays a big part in most of the big events like Messiah Complex and Second Coming. Ever since I started reading x-men after House of M I've gained a much bigger appreciation for Rogue, so much that she's probably one of my favorites.
Is the first arc of Generation Hope any good? I noticed the trade for it is already out.
Gen Hope altogether is pretty good. The first arc is so far the highlight of it for me though. But if you haven't read "Birth of Generation Hope" arc in Uncanny X-Men you should because it sets up the characters.

I enjoyed it, but I'm pretty easilly pleased. They've tweaked the power set so the kids don't just have your run of the mill flight, strength and lazer eyes. One of my biggest concerns about the series turned into the thing I like most about the book so far, Teon. The Wolverine/Sabretooth of the team, who is really neither of the two and more a big, over-protective dog who sees the worlds problems with only 3 solutions: Fight Flight, or Mate.
I did read the "Birth of Generation Hope" Uncanny trade but dear Lord was the art awful for the most part. Freakin Greg Land did a much better job in the next arc but honestly I thought it wasn't too bad altogether. Much better than his recent stuff at least.

Gen Hope is real good. Lots of fun, lots of plot potential, and the art is excellent.
Generation Hope I like so much because it's more of the "new mutants finding out about their powers, what they fight for/against, and the whole learning curve" that I love to death about X-Men. It's also why New X-Men (not Morrisons, but the other one) is one of my favorite series.

Really good Gillen and Aaron interview, despite some softball questions. Gillen actually answers stuff instead of going "wait and see" "big changes" and the usual writer lines.
Essentially Uncanny X-Men is going to take the Astonishing route and be big time heroes everywhere, WatXM is going to be much more covert. Uncanny will still be in SF, Wolverine's team will probably be back in NYC. Uncanny will have nine main members with a supporting cast, no word yet on Wolverine's roster. Pacheco is drawing the first Uncanny arc.
The big question this poses is this; if Uncanny is basically going hero, and Wolverine is kind of covert, there really is no need for the Gischler X-Men book, Astonishing, and X-Force (at least as it currently is). Hopefully Marvel culls some x-titles for October.

And I guess Schism is the biggest event in years, even bigger than those other biggest events in years. I hope it really justifies this.

Man, I love X-men in space

I love that man.
because it was so rad
things are about to get weird
uXM is Gillen, WATXM is Jason Aaron.

I'm actually wanting this now. Damn it furu.
Edit: I think it's maybe X-23?
Also, that is totally X-23.
"Hey guys, let's split up the x-couples and have Scott, Betsy, and Gambit on one side, and Emma, Warren, and Rogue on the other! Wowie!"
Hopefully one book's artist is Bachalo, the other is Dodson or Davis or Reilly Brown, just anyone but Land.
A Pacheco/Dodson team would have been perfect for Uncanny, but until then I guess I pick up WatX.
Figures they'd do it after I set up my first subscription.
On another note, got Legacy 250 in the mail today.
I kinda feel like I've seen that pic before. Iceman looks especially familiar.
They're ending it, taking a month off, and launching it from #1.

not terrible
just stupid
you should read Herbie instead
