Like, Ms Marvel has those boots and so on but she is also super-tough and immune to environmental extremes and so on, no worries there. And most other characters wear stuff that tends to be pretty covering to the wind. But Emma lives on an island and wears tube tops. Surely she must get very chilly.
I know that once you start getting into costume practicality you never stop, and I would never argue for no superhero costumes (I love superhero costumes), but it does occur to me that Emma's is particularly jarring.

Emma's is particularly jarring because it doesn't read as a superhero costume. It reads as lingerie with some nods to dominatrices in it. It's silly because we can actually see someone wearing that in real life and go "you must be very cold, dearie."
Well the argument is that she was in the hellfire club and the women in that dress like dominatrixes to use their sexuality to control men yadda yadda yadda.
But when it comes down to it, that's a pretty cheap excuse. Yeah, she wears lingerie all the time because she was a dominatrix style villain, ok then. It looks dumb and I don't care how writers try to explain it.
Though of course it was created by Claremont and Byrne. So I think that says a lot.

Yeah, I remember the Hellfire Club back when. Selene's still one of my favourite villainesses.
And it's not really an excuse for shit. (As an aside, Emma's really never actually been good at being a dominatrix. She has ice queen down pat but she's terrible at the rest of it.) She really should change it up.
But what I am saying is that yes it's lingerie and that specifically is why Emma as opposed to most any other heroine gets us going "you must be cold" a little more. Her outfit is far more relatable than generic spandex #19.
Same with Namor's swimming trunks (so glad he changed out of them. He looks much more regal now).

So, I just picked up X-Force on the digital comics service.
I didn't think much of it until around issue eight, at which point the holy shit quotient and hilarity started exponentially multiplying per page. It's like every page is at war with the previous ones to see which one can pull off the most epic spread/series of events. At this point, the only way they're going to be able to top it is if they start introducing Galactus sized threats.
Also
The x shaped tumor scene is hilarious. As is Angel's monologuing, prior to him jumping Domino, and her shit eating grin as she sticks a gun in his mouth.
Also, Elixir's line "I don't want to hurt anyone!"
"Hurt anyone!? You gave me a #@$%!@# tumor!"
Warpath going off to fight a five story tall demonic ghost bear with nothing but two knives was hilariously awesome. How did they top that? Warpath getting his ass kicked, only for the fucking Ghost Rider to come in out of nowhere and bitch smack the bear, then give Warpath lessons on demon slaying. As a Shaman. With the knife.
Are there any other X-men series/events that manage this consistent level of art and story?

I'm interested in New Mutants solely based on Nate X-Man being there. Has he been doing anything before hand?
He was in Dark X-Men mini thing, which got him to the point you find him in New Mutants.
In short, Sugar Man had Nate strapped to a machine and was using his immense power to find the AoA universe again. New Mutants save him, but Nate ends up burning most of his power before everything gets sorted out. So now you have Nate Grey, telekinetic. It's left in such a way that those other Omega-level powers can come back at some point, but they needed him to be more manageable to operate in NM.
Basically everything I wanted to happen with the Sentry.
It's kind of a weird place for Nate, as the New Mutants are a close-knit group of friends and he's mostly a loner, but it's worked so far. He's settled into a weird leadership-esque role since Moonstar is away from the team in the current arc.

AoA Kurt isn't as religious as regular Kurt, and also kills without remorse. Bamf bamf, snap snap.
In sadder news, Carlos Pacheco only seems to have been able to do three issues of Uncanny X-Men without needing a break (despite what, 6 months of lead-in time?), so Brandon Peterson is drawing #4, and Greg Land comes aboard to kill the book with #5. Gillen, you're a really good writer, but you have to stand up to Marvel and tell them no more Land drawing your stuff. Let him go draw Amazing Spider-Man or something.

That is not how the comic book industry works.

One can always dream, it can be like a movie. Like Bridget Jones' Diary!
He traces a lot of work, reuses a lot of poses (on one page Emma Frost may look different in every panel depending on which model he traced), and seems to get a lot of poses and stills from porn. The worst thing about Greg Land is he used to be a real artist and actually drew stuff.
edit: To add something to the conversation - when you notice when Land pulls something like this it just really takes you out of the story.
Y'know when you watch a special effects movie and you can see the wires? Or the obvious green screen effect? Or the shitty mid-90's style CGI? There's this "that's so fake" moment that you just forget about the action or the story or the characters and focus on the botched effect.
"That looks so fake."
"How could anyone have been okay with this?"
"I wonder how they could have done it differently and/or better?"
So yeah, when you're reading a Land book like Uncanny X-Men for a while you get similar "a-ha" moments.
"This pose looks eerily familiar"
"Wait, how come her hair completely changes style in those two panels?"
"Hmmm, this looks kinda of like a porno money shot"
A lot of artists use references. Many of those will draft those references in a close 1 to 1 style. Some even outright trace certain elements. When you get really lazy with it, like Land has done, then you're effectively looking at a bad photoshop that someone drew out.
I am sure that multiple writers have been begging the powers that be at Marvel to let them bring back Jean Grey if for no other reason to piss off the comic book geeks.
"Pay me less just let me bring back Jean!" "For the last time no!" "Pleeeeese!?" "*sigh* Fine."

Edit: And the HSQ has been topped. Successively.
That X-Force run doesn't even come close to what Remender has been doing on Uncanny.
Maybe she turns those bits diamond (ahem).
Hell, Deathlok is kind of fun in X-force. Deathlok.

Dark X-Men and the arc that he appeared in New Mutants is all you need.
I am pretty sure those Dark X-Men was his first appearance since his series ended and he sacrificed himself.

We hate him because it's blatant and yet he continues to coast. It offends people's sense of fair play.

Preview of New Mutants #34
Is it just me or does Cap's head look a little squished?
Ah Loeb, subtlety is not your thing.

We just finished up TWO! At the same time!
Nerdrage aside, I can't wait to groan heavily at this return of someone who I think died in the best way possible.
eh, it's as dumb as m-tattoos
There's hope that this whole Phoenix thing will be told in a series of minis and not a full blown event.

Scott: *walks up to Magneto* So that whole Super-Villain-Destroy-The-World thing, how exactly does that go?
