I hope the full game has a filter to allow searching for/without hardcore servers.
The lack of a filter so I could search specifically for hardcore servers annoyed me greatly about CoD4, and from the looks of it BC2 isn't going to be any different.
Edit: I also wish the medic had anything at all to manipulate the destructable buuldings. They're the only class not to, and they don't get a good gun to make up for it either.

Unless this is a PC/360 difference, you are wrong. The Medic gun is rapetown.
Getting buildings blown up is easy, almost all of them have a nice stack of explosives near by. If not, just respawn as an engineer and get to business.
I think it's a PC/console difference. I did hear something about the medic's LMG being changed in the console's demo.
As for blowing shit up, it's just kind of annoying that recon gets C4, assault gets grenade tube or C4 (and the best guns) (and ammo boxes), and engineer gets drill and RPG. And medic gets nothing. It's not that bad, though, and a better gun would make up for it.
And I don't get why you're hating on the LMGs. They're just as powerful and as accurate as the assault rifles unlike in BF2 and 2142. They also have a huge clip that lets you handle more than a few encounters.

G3 or an M14 ACOG ought to do it. Also, first review seems to have been dropped as a 9.5 from Game Informer. This seems...early.
Man I hope the LMGs aren't nerfed in the final version. I hated how they were less powerful and less accurate than the assault rifles which fired the same rounds.

so you want the best class already to have anti-tank capacity.
The number of people who complain about the medic not "having anything" [to deal with variety of threats/vehicles] is just mind boggling. Medics have been the BEST CLASS HANDS DOWN in every single BF game for the whole of existence. Now the other classes have purpose and all people want to do is complain that their precious Navy Corpsman lookin', mustache sportin', cap wearin' Medic can't deal with that oncoming tank. Yeeeesh.
Medic, Engineer, and Sniper are probaly all that's going to be played when the game comes out. Engineers can out shoot assault and take out tanks, who wants to be assault with a super inaccurate Assault rifle and a grenade launcher that you litereally have to hit people with to kill them. It's Modern Combat and Bad Company 1 all over gun, where the assault class can't even do its job, because the dudes with SMGs and LMGs do it better.
except you can resupply your own explosives and have access to the harder hitting XM8 which is amazing.
yeah there's nothing like sitting below the sniper hill on defense with a resupply crate spamming grenades up there. Also I've run out of ammo many times and would have been screwed if nobody had been playing assault.
Also, I think I am going to stop playing till release. Don't want to get burned out, and don't want to waste any more playtime with nothing left to unlock.

The class setup is so similar to BF2142 that I think they should take the ammo hub away from assault, kill the medic class and give the hub/defib to the assault (they choose between defib and the underslung attachments), and give the LMG and ammo hub to a newly made Support class. Maybe they could get flashbangs or something as their second gadget.
@rumpelstilskins Yes by design, we properly handle arbitrary aspect ratios. We plan to make the FOV customizable w/o changing res. as well
So does this mean I'll be able to have an appropriate FOV for my widescreen monitor? Because I'm really hating the tunnel vision feeling I get when I play now.
I can't snipe to save my life. Recon may as well not exist for me.
But I scored almost 10k as a Medic just a few minutes ago. I find that covering the rear and sides of my squad using a shotgun (the SAIGA I think its called?) to pick off those who would flank my Assault buddies has been much more successful than using the LMG for, well... anything.
There are other minor ones, but they never say anything or respond to questions/comments.
Thanks, for some reason I'd heard of @gordonvandyke and @L_twin, who is the one who keeps saying that he's working on getting a 4-pack, and of course the official bfbc one they have the splash screen for at the end of every match, but not that one.
Medic gun (and the upgraded SAW) make up for in pure rapid fire bang-bang, what it lacks in damage. On the console demo, had some silly fools run blindly up a staircase to disarm bomb. As I started depressing the controller to reload, I remembered I had a SAW, and kept my finger depressed - 4 kills in about 6 seconds. Good times.
I cant seem to figure out whether the Carl G or RPG 7 is better for anti tank duty. Besides the tooltip saying the Carl G is better for anti infantry attacks, can anyone shed some light on this?

I dicked around on a server testing and the RPG is better against armor. This wasn't the most rigorous of testing, but the results seemed pretty consistent. This is roughly the damage done by a single round against the t90.
Front Side Rear Top
RPG 29 50~ 55 62
Carl 22 41 41 22
I wish the perk slot that lets you choose shotgun capacity upgrades would also let you choose type of rounds for a launching/AT weapon. Like HEAT or what you.
The AT4 is guided. It says so right in its description.
Well I'll be!
Also apparently there's a fix for people seeing "-" where the latency should be, rejoice!
Well don't rejoice just yet, I haven't tested this but apparently you find your BFBC2Game.exe, right click -> properties -> compatibility -> run as administrator. If you try this and it works, come back here and rejoice out loud so I can add it to the OP and make a post in the steam group.
Word is that this is a non-issue in the retail release.
wow I just played the worst round ever. We were on attack, and 3/4 of our team decides it would be awesome to sit around on that little hill at the start and try to snipe, seriously there was 9-10 of our team all crowded up on one hill not shooting very much of anything. So we can't even destroy a single point as 5 guys just isn't enough to get past the defense, ugh.
Pings show up but the browser still takes forever to load and you can't sort the servers so it' still fairly useless.
The ping is kind of useless too. It has a reasonable 30-50 ping for other west coast servers, but one I'm in them, even if I'm alone it at a minimum of 90 according to their G15 applet. Which I'm more likely to believe, since I'm pretty sure even really crappy FPS drops don't cause rubberbanding or being able to walk around for a second or two after getting a death message
Oh hey smokes remove tracers from your vehicle. Suddenly they are awesome.
Wait, what.
It's true! I wish they'd put it on a description somewhere.
edit: There's a workaround for those of you whose friends lists are at that stage where you can't delete or join friends' games. You can go to the leaderboards and view the friends leaderboards, then remove friends from there to get them back to a more manageable number while you wait for that shit to get fixed. Added to the OP.
1) Kill all trees. Trees are not your friends. They herald your doom and conceal your foes. Man those mounted machine guns and cut down those leafy, silent traitors as soon as humanly possible. Form up grenade launcher and RPG regiments to blow those barked bastards back to the stone age. Once those evil things are disposed of, and the earth salted in their place, the attacking force will have a much harder time moving forces up in place to strike quickly. You will have much better warning. Their ATVs and Tanks will come under more precise fire. Trees are an agent of the enemy and must be destroyed.
2) Get one squad or so to camp the base of Sniper-Hill. Get 3 medics and 2 assault. Lay down ammo and medpacks and start chucking grenades like if you keep doing it you're going to win something. Because, god damnit, snipers need to die. The rocks provide a fairly defensible area as long as you cover one another.
3) Deny the enemy his precious machines. It is of the utmost strategic importance to not only remove the enemy's ability to bring the mechanized part of "mechanized infantry" to the front, but also the keep him neutered. Make every effort to not destroy that ATV rider's C4 blingged out ride, but to shoot him from it and claim it as your own. Make it a trophy. Do laps around point B and lord your fresh wheels over other grounded troops. But most importantly keep it safe and it won't respawn for them to turn against you. Like the girl at the bar your friend is hitting on you must make her your own. Park it behind the under-construction building and strengthen your grasp and the dying enemy. This goes doubly so for the tank and BDMA. Much harder to capture, but ever so worth. Make every effort to cripple but not kill those pieces of armor. They are the golf trophies with which you will bludgeon the attackers to death with.
4) Go engineer. It is a thing of beauty to tag a tank and then see, almost simultaneously, 3 rockets shoot to the skies and make an immediately and deadly 90 degree turn to ruin some poor guy's day. Also, if you're recon you should be calling in mortar strikes. Is your mortar strike on cool down? No? Then call one in, Nancy. They're unlimited and you're not going to be C4'ing anything while you're hiding in the under-construction building.

http://www.ultimateprestige.com/ is a pretty neat site, doesn't really have that much info, but nice pictures.
I was even able to land!
it only counts if you don't blow up right after
Yeah, currently the Carl seems to have no use at all. I hope the AT4 isn't the same way.
You would think we'd have some more modern infantry AT weapons lying around, but maybe they'd be too powerful.
the bad company teams blew all of their budgets on those fish guns
Wait what?
The Carl moves significantly faster than the RPG and drops less over long range. It's pretty useful for sniping mans with.
