Monitor and Power on, but no display upon boot

Seems like I have terrible computer luck sometimes.

Problem is as follows: The computer boots (seemingly) and the power supply (brand new) fan runs fine, the CPU heatsink is on, the video card (new as well, though leaving it out and using the onboard video doesn't work either) blows air as well. I hear it revving right along, though it is all at once consistent hum instead of a back and forth like I'm used to hearing. The only other thing plugged into the Mobo is a DVD drive and two sticks of RAM. There is a new hard drive in the case, which I've tried alone and with the old hard drive (which was slowly corrupting, but would still boot in safe mode), and nothing seems to get too far. They both appear to work, though it isn't like they produce much noise to tell. Perhaps the HDDs are the problem?

The monitor's green light blinks when I turn it on, but the monitor itself doesn't turn on to show anything. Same thing happens when I use a different monitor. It isn't off in that "check cable" kind of way, it's just blinking like I just shut the computer down and its turned off the display only. It's pretty much the only way to tell something isn't working, though, since otherwise the computer seems completely powered up.

Seems unlikely to be a RAM thing, but I'll be taking out of one those to see soon. Any big idea I might be missing in the process of trying to get this computer to boot properly? Merci.

Have you tried pulling everything out and reseating it in it's respective slot? Something could look like it's connected but isn't.

No post codes at all? I'm not sure about your motherboard, but when there's a problem there are usually a series of beeps (or a digital reading on the mobo itself) saying what is wrong.

Otherwise, yea, reseating everything, taking one stick of RAM out at a time to test, etc.

    No video? Start with RAM.

No post? (beeps?) Drop it down to base specs, disconnect everything except RAM and even tho drop it down to one DIMM (if you can, not sure if your unit requires DIMMs to be paired) plug into the internal video (if there is one) and fire it up, hopefully you will get something. After that add parts in one at a time.

But start with RAM, alot of no video issues are because of RAM. Put in one DIMM fire it up, then swap it with the other dimm, hopefully one of them will get the unit to boot.

If neither work then it might be mainboard, if you have a power tester you could test the output of your power supply but I dont think that is something that most people have lying around.

Hmm my Husbands has an issue right now where the Bios swears up and down that he has to load from the onboard video and not the video card. It takes a long time to actually boot to the point wher eI thought it was not booting at all despite getting a post beep. He has tried to make it change to using the video and not the on board but it is not doing it and he just has a really long starting time untill things happen.

I get no post at all. No beeps.

I tried taking the RAM out, on either at a time, nothing changed. Seems like I'll have to reseat the mobo to see whether that works or not. Everything that plugs into the mobo has been replugged in and no such luck there, so all that's left is taking out the mobo and putting it back in. May well be a miracle if that works though.
