As a counterpoint, not everyone is fifty years old. Remember there are new generations of nerds coming of age all the time, who may have not yet read/watched the books/movies. Tonight was awesome in the Moors. We had an all-minnie raid of Freeps. We got up to 20 minnies at one point, and we owned the creeps.

We had so much AOE and burst damage from 14+ warspeech minnies, that we just blew the creeps up. At least in the first 20 seconds of the fight, since if they survived the initial onslaught, we wiped. Light armor and low morale do not last for long. So most of the fights tonight were short, wild and full of shouting minnies.

Highlight of the night was when 16 minnies run in the middle of a creep raid, feigned death, creeps go “WTF, we can't hit anyone”, all the minnies go out of feign death on command, and start to AOE in the middle of a creep raid. Awesomesauce <3.

I have to say, I really enjoy soloing on my Burglar more than Skirmishes. When soloing I get to do all my stealth and stab attacks and pick 1v1 fights so that I'm not draining all of my power. In skirmishes all the fights are vs 3 NPCs, so by the end of the fight all my power is gone and I dont get to really use any of my stealthiness.

On the other hand, I luv skirmishes with my captain. Herald & Soldier means much fun to be had, and triples my buffing effectiveness. I'm somewhat undecided on staying with my crit 1shot L41 Halberd, or the L40 purple sword&board I bought from the skirmish traders. It seems my Captain goes down pretty fast to counter attacks if I dont get off a lucky crit for a on-defeat ability.
Also on the downside, I cant advance my racial deeds in skirmishes, because there are no wargs or hillmen in there. :(

Is there still no way to remove your cc information from the Turbine account? I woke this morning to find that somehow my LOTRO account had magically been restored along with a charge that I did not pay for. I've changed my account information just to be on the safe side, but if my account had been hacked I would've expected the hackers to change the account information. So I'm not sure exactly what happened.

But I would like to just remove my cc information from the account, however there appears to be no way to do so. Did a quick Google search and found that Turbine does not allow you to do that without completely canceling your account and negating your ability to play the game. Is this still true?

I have to say, I am loving playing right now. I have all my crafters to the point where anything sub 50 is fully critted, which is fun running around like a bad-ass.

I also finally unlocked the Mirkwood content by running through that quest chain. Even got my minstrel to 64. Now I just need to start grinding skirmishes for the last bit of xp and for marks in case I ever find a legendary I want to stick with.

Anyone else been following the Skirmish tournament beta? It's actually kinda interesting. They did three rounds over the last few days (technically round 3 is still going on), where they post a specific skirmish and any extra details you may need, and give out prizes for the fastest runs per server.

Round one was Stand at Amon Sul, Tier I difficulty, Full Fellowship.
Round two was Siege of Gondamon, Tier II difficulty, Small Fellowship.
Round three is Trouble in Tuckborough, Tier III difficulty, Solo only. Only your last run on rounds two and three count, too, so if you try again for a faster time and fail, you've gotta take the new time.

I'm guessing that's why the rewards for that one was something like 2500 skirmish marks and 1.5g.

Noticed on the standings only like 13 people on Landroval actually completed it.

I've been trying to tell this to TBS for a long time. Although, next time we should join a larger raid. Moors are all about focus fire, and the two of us lacked DPS to be effective against creep raids. Still, I'm glad you had fun.

Once you reach rank 2, go to provisioner in GV. He sells maps with a port to GV, which do not share cooldown with other travel skills. So if you need to get back to Eriador, and all your traveling skills are on cooldown, you can use the map to get near a horse to Rivendell, Shire, Thorins Gate and Esteldin. Rank 2 map has 1h cooldown, rank 4 map has 30m cooldown.

It was also to show that the hobbits (Merry, Pippin & Sam) had to make a choice between helping Frodo on his quest and going home and saving their homeland from the bad things that could happen to it.

Or maybe it is a veiled reference to Tolkein wanting to purge the commies from England after he returned from the war, who knows.

Yeah, Tolkien always said that his works were not any kind of attempt at political commentary as it pertains to the wars of his era. That said, I think on some subconscious level, the things he did and saw when he served heavily influenced his writing, whether he realized it or not.

Woo! Got my captain to 45 this morning. It is amazing how much easier it is to level once you have done it all before, also with the reduced XP requirements. Same thing with the legendary trait deeds, it is so much easier now to buy the books at 39 from the vendor and turn them in at rivendell to start the deeds, then by the time you finish your starter quests in Angmar and Misty Mountains you should have most of your pages collected. I'm down to my last page needed, and its in Angmar, and I havent even touched the quests in Aughair yet.

Also, crafting makes everything awesome. I managed to craft some crit teal L45 weapons that are better than the L50 epic class quest rewards that you cannot even access until L45. And they weren't even one-shot recipes.

I have a 52 minstrel am towards the end of Volume I and haven't seen any in-game indication of what to do for legenadry traits. I wasn't worried about it until reading Gnome's post that makes it sound like I've been missing an opportunity to combine grinding with questing (I've already done most of the soloable quests in Angmar). In general I've felt like the game has been pretty good about steering me towards tasks I should be working on but I'm afraid I've missed a boat here if I could have been working on it since 45.

All freeps hate wargs, just like all creeps hate burgs. They're designed for what angry players will decry as "cowardly" play. I think they're awfully fun though -- I have a rank 7 warg and it's been one of my favorite MMO "characters" ever.

That said, I took a break from the Moors awhile ago because the personalities eventually got to me. There are some good people out there but there are also a few colossal silly geese that so dominate the landscape both creepside and freepside that I just couldn't take it anymore.

Now to be fair I'll say I don't have any direct experience freepside, my highest character being the aforementioned 52 mini, but from the talk on the forums it sounded like it could get really nasty. It was probably a mistake for me to ever look at the forums. It was one thing to have a nemesis RK out there who constantly killed me, then quite another to learn that the player on the other end is one of the most obnoxious people I've encountered in an MMO. Kinda soured things, you know?

I think you buy them from your class trainer, if I'm thinking about the same books you are.
I got a tutorial message popping up about them in the middle of a heated battle and then clicked it away, so I wasn't too sure about them myself.
But the hunter trainer had 3 books for sale, that I now carry with me in the hope they'll fill themselves.

I've seen them for sale, didn't understand what they were for, assumed I'd be told eventually and have been waiting for them to be referenced in-game. Maybe I did the same thing as you and just dismissed a pop-up. I'm a bit irritated that that's apparently the only nudge you're given. Seems like this should have an introductory quest associated with it like those that exist for a lot of the reputation items.

Thanks for the clarification though. I'll pick the books up tonight.

So it's been quite a while since I've played this. I only have a couple level 20-30 somethings to play (Guardian/Champ). I jumped back in because my wife is kicking around in the game again. So I'm completely out of touch with the game.

I remember quitting before even the first expansion came out basically because I didn't have any friends that played it and the two of us were pretty limited as to what we could really do. It seemed like all of the "books" (pardon me if I'm getting the terminology wrong) were just not do-able with one or two people and we would forever be stuck at completing content that was a good 20 levels below us just to progress through the story.

I love the community and the atmosphere of the game. But at this point we're both so unbelievably casual and jaded to MMOs and guilds in general(thanks wow) that I don't know what the game has to offer as far as progressing through the "story", which is most interesting to us.

The book quests are the 'epic story' that progresses as you level. Volume 1 starts at level 1 and follows you in fits and starts until you reach level 50. They've made it so that you can solo the entire thing. At level 50, volume 1 keeps going... it used to be the level cap, but no longer, so you can keep on following the story while levelling.
Volume 2 takes place in Moria, and has some annoying group quests that will block your way.
Volume 3 I think might be solo-able since it relies on the 'skirmish' system.

Yep, the books you want are on any class trainer, there should be 3 for purchase. Once you purchase them, they immediately go into your Deed log under your class trait deeds. When you look in there, it tells you who you need to speak with (in Rivendell) to advance the deed.

Once you have advanced the deed by speaking to the person in Rivendell, you need to collect all 8 pages for each book/deed. The first 4 pages for each book/deed are obtained by killing humanoid NPCs in Angmar/Eregion, the last 4 pages for each book/deed are obtained by killing humanoids in Misty Mountains/Ferochel.

None of the books or pages ever touch your inventory, they go straight into your class trait deeds.

The extra kicker is you can begin working on these legendary traits at 39, but cannot slot the first one until level 41.

The class quests you get from your trainer at 45, and show up in your quest log under your class name (and as level 50 quests), they require some hard to get items that can be purchased from the skirmish curiosity vendor if you dont want to Auction House or collect manually. If you complete both of these quests, when you do the final turn in, it directs you once again to speak with someone in Rivendell, and there you will recieve your 4th Legendary Trait.

See, I managed to complete all that crazy stuff for the 45 and 50 class quests already, purchasing the final instance quest drops with skirmish marks. So I've already earned my "4th" legendary trait, only it's the first one for me.

I'd feel stupid if I believed this was some huge thing I ignored but I've seen no mention of it in-game. Now I'm just kinda miffed. I saw the legendary trait slots open up at 41 and have just been waiting patiently for some kindly old elf to point me in the right direction.

At least now I know what I missed!
