Because you're a silly goose who doesn't like to use your hardware to the best of its capabilities?
No, because even though there are the innocent ones, the majority of R4 owners and CFW users use such methods simply for piracy.
That doesn't excuse being a...goose...to somebody based on a presumption. You know it, and I know it, and when you start throwing baseless accusations around like it's a shit-slinging contest and you're the defending champion, it ends with this thread in flames and everyone jailed
Keeping in mind the possibility of a PSP2 being announced next week, Dell is selling PSP Gos at 80 bucks off. That's awfully tempting...why can't Sony have been bad about leaks again this year, such a hard decision
This thread title perpetually reminds me that The 3rd Birthday is really the only reason I'm still half-clinging to my PSP right now. I've actually sold off most of my collection, and I was planning on trading in my PSP, but I wonder if I should hold onto it just to see how the game looks at E3. On the other hand, I've the feeling trade-in values will plummet if a new system or PSP-5000 or whatever is announced. I'm torn.

Even though you're probably right, directly accusing people here of doing so without any evidence or real provocation is still kind of a dick move—especially since I'd wager the types of people who post on message boards are probably far more likely to buy their own software, due to interests in supporting the industry, feelings of ethics or what-have-you.

I know, I apologize. I go a little crazy over the subject.
Its becoming quite a pain in the ass to be a legitimate CFW user nowadays. Every new game you buy has be cracked in some way. (you can't play off the UMD or memory stick without cracking) The pirates actually have it easier in that they just torrent the game precracked.
I now purchase far fewer games due to the hassle. I've had Peace Walker since release day and yet it remains unplayed.
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

Honestly, if I ever go CFW, I'd just buy a second PSP for that purpose, and use my 'main' one for UMD stuff.
Honestly, if I ever go CFW, I'd just buy a second PSP for that purpose, and use my 'main' one for UMD stuff.
I'd almost do that with a second PSP because of the hassle, but I don't have a second PSP.
And I don't want to lose my plugins and features and homebrew.
And the fact that running my games from the mem stick solves all load time issues. That's the biggest reason.
If Sony supported the Go with their full PSP library I might have converted to one. But yeah... that didn't happen.

I wanted to, but they fought me every step of the way. I like the redesign, it's slick and has features I've wanted for a long time (like internal memory and save states). But, I have about 30 UMD games which would be useless on one, and they had no method for existing owners to bring their current library with them. They also priced it only $50au cheaper than a PS3 in Australia. That is downright ridiculous. Then they didn't get all their 3rd parties on board with digital distribution, so you still need a UMD PSP to play the whole catalog. It was an awesome idea and the hardware is very slick. They just didn't give existing users any way to really make the transition to one and didn't give it the support it needed with its back catalog (and even with some upcoming games like Kingdom Hearts).
Let's just ignore the lack of reason for any current PSP owner to upgrade for a second due to them having no trade-in UMD --> Digital program.
How the hell did they expect it to do any decently when it only has access to half the library at best and with no guarantee for upcoming releases to be supported? The only way it would have a chance is if every single PSP game was mandated to be on the PSN.

That's the million dollar question, isn't it? It's impossible to really know for sure, but trying to go fully DD midway through a system's life seems like kind of a chicken-and-egg thing; publishers will only work to put out a DD version if there's an install base to buy it, but the install base doesn't build unless there are games to actually buy. I haven't taken a look in a while, but is Square Enix still conspicuously absent from the PSP game list on PSN?
I'm so torn on my PSP, and it doesn't help that I'm getting more curious about 3rd Birthday and also Valkyria Chronicles 2. Plus I do have a few PSN purchases already, so by selling the system I kind of lose access to them permanently. I guess we'll see what E3 has in the way of PSP news.

This is definitely played a factor in my gaming habits; I don't want to lose the convenience of CFW, but the scene has totally fallen apart after Dark Alex and the M33 updates stopped showing up. I was interested in Motorstorm, but passed on it, and I messed around with the GEN updates but finding competent discussion of the CFW scene online is like finding a needle in a haystack.

You could just deactivate your PSP before you sell it and keep your PSN login details handy. This way if you bought a PSP (or PSP2) in the future your account will still be available.
I'm really happy about the $10 pricepoint for certain games on the PSN. I dinked around a little bit with some of the PS2 Socom games years ago. I didn't play through them or anything but I liked them, so I was curious to see how they were on the PSP, so for $10 I can find out.
Although it'll have to wait a while, I just bought Untold Legends and this game is pretty awesome for a generic ARPG. I totally missed it at launch for some reason.

The GEN team has the same quality as DAX had in their own way, though with different priorities: mainly making sure all games are playable rather than having the most current features by constantly updating firmware. The current firmware plays everything up to a certain point and they've released a patching program for everything else.
I kinda hope CFW makes the jump to 6.XX though myself. I want to check out the comic store and buy a few things. That's the only thing that makes me sad about my current setup.
Also - What's a good way to buy EU PSN games outside of importing PSN cards again? I want to buy Vagrant Story to replace my self-made rip of the game. And SCEA won't fucking release the game on the American PSN. :X

Yeah, Square-Enix is still the big holdout. They release Dissidia: Final Fantasy on the PSN (and it even got a price drop recently), but none of their older stuff is up.
But saying it only has access to half the library at best is misleading. Excluding the Square-Enix stuff, I can only think of a handful of games that I'd be willing to purchase on the PSN that aren't on the PSN (Popolocrois, EEE, Lumines, and the Mega Man remake). As it is, there are still dozens of games on the PSN that I haven't gotten around to buying yet due to lack of money or time that I would like to buy.

This is rather akin to saying "Excluding all first party games, the Wii has no good games to play"
I'm actually really enjoying the PSP Go at the moment. The games available on the PSN network are more than enough for me since it is just for playing at work during downtime.
Comparing it to the 3000 that I had before, I prefer the controls on the GO except the analog stick, But I've always had a problem with it regardless of model. Also the size is perfect.

Seriously? I'd like to play Crisis Core which is a PSP exclusive that's not on the PSN, but as far as I can tell, everything else that S-E has done on the PSP that isn't on the PSN are just remakes and ports. They'd be nice to have on the PSN, but hardly essential.
I will say that I would be very disappointed if the new Parasite Eve game isn't on the PSN, but we haven't heard either way (I assume it will be since Dissidia is on the PSN).
If I decide to keep my PSP, I'm definitely picking up FFIX next week, as it's still my favorite PS1 FF. Honestly, I've been considering going legit on my system to pick up that, but I really should spend more time messing around to figure out how to get the few PS1 games I still have discs for (that, FF7, Parasite Eve and Dino Crisis 2) working on the GEN CFW I have on now.
And the decided lack of FFT War of the Lions on PSN is still a shame. I think the original PS1 version is available, IIRC, but the new localization is well worth the premium.

Pretty much. I can't go back to the PS1 version now. It's so bad in comparison.

I didn't like either, which is really weird because I absolutely love SRPGs.
And now I have a UMD copy of War of the Lions that is just sitting here collecting dust.
Sweet got Peace Walker working, apparently there is a way to rip and decrypt your UMD all from your psp. I hope Sony doesn't get wise to this method before Valkyria Chronicles and Monster Hunter 3 are out. (These are the only psp must haves coming out soon I can think of)

Also, if you're a SRGP fan with a PSP and haven't yet, you need to give Wild Arms XF a chance.
I'm waiting until I clear Phantasy Star Portable before I pick up Disgaea. A man only has so much time. Although Phantasy Star Portable 2 will probably be released stateside right around the time I finish PSP, so it may be a while. They're definitely on my list, though. Hopefully by the time I get around to playing them the second one will be cheaper on the PSN.
I've been wanting to check out Wild Arms XF as well. I've heard bad things about the traditional Wild Arms RPGs, but a lot of good things about XF.

Yes, let's accuse each other of piracy
Surely this will not end in disaster

You mean  ?
Sorry, just whenever mentions "CFW" or "R4" or anything in the same category I just want to start punching things.

Nope. Hoping for an E3 announcement.
There's no way it won't come out here. Prinny 1 sold surprisingly well. Better here than it did in Japan, no less.
