But honestly for the soundtrack I could just youtube it. I'm sure the songs are already up. Also if their Lunar soundtrack is to be believed, they get really lazy on those discs. Lunar's was a CD without even color on the disc, just silver and black, and there wasn't even a backing to the case to show the track list. You just saw the CD. So that's like a dollar worth of effort right there, so all we have left is the cloth map and artbook. If that artbook isn't hardcover then I can't imagine trying to justify $20 for it and the map. And also I got the Persona 4 artbook for free and I could potentially be getting an EO3 artbook for free as well. So like, at most that artbook should be worth $5 to the package cost. $14 for a cloth map then? I don't think so.
Pureauthor, Zombrex is the brand for the zombie antidote or something. It's just an in-game thing, like Umbrella.

Man I love the Go hardware. I just wish they had it at a price point that wasn't batshit insane, and had some way for people who already own a PSP to get their collection onto it.
I would have even bought one with that 10 game deal if we got it in Australia, even though I had quite a few of them.
and had some way for people who already own a PSP to get their collection onto it.
Personally I'm treating it as a new platform, essentially to get over this.
Price wasn't too bad for me. Amazon had it for $220. I had a $25 Gift Card from my Credit Card's reward points, and I dumped some coins in my local coinstar and I got it for roughly $165 in the end.
On top of all of that, LittleBigPlanet, Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, & Socom 3 are all games I wanted, so that's essentially $60/$80 worth of freebies I would have probably bought anyway.
Free shipping and lack of tax helped.
But yeah, you're right, the hardware is goddamn slick. Probably my favorite bit of handheld gaming hardware-wise outside of the Game Boy Micro of course.

I was going to buy one because I was looking for a portable media player, and the normal PSP is just too big. The Go is about the size of an iPod classic, and I wanted it basically for music and the occasional movie and whatever games I buy digitally.
Then I saw the Australian price. $450au. For comparison, the new 360 slim is $450au, and a 120gb PS3 is $500au.
Also, just checking prices, I saw that Australia does indeed get the 10 game deal. The Go is still pretty pricey, at $370 from Game (not a mark down, just a deal they have going). I would have been all over this if they had it at that price when it released, even without the free games, since it's only slightly more than I paid for my iPod classic.

The most I ever payed for an LE was the Growlanser Generations one($89.99). Considering it was two huge RPGs in one, I felt justified.
Not sure whether I'm getting the Ys 7 LE or not. While the price is high, I still love getting limited editions, so we'll see. Also, Valkyria Chronicles 2 coming out at the end of this month. More RPG goodness.
I have Persona 3 Portable, got a used copy of DJ Max Portable for a pittance, and have Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble shipping with some Hori screen protectors from Amazon.
Any other recommendations? It's definitely not my main gaming machine, so I'm only looking for one or two titles to consider in the near future.

What kind of games are you looking for? I could recommend quite a few, but they're all action games. God of War: Chains of Olympus, Syphon Filer Dark Mirror and Logans Shadow, Killzone Liberation...
So tomorrow i'm going to meet up with this NYU student from craigslist that's selling his silver PSP 3000.
It's $135 (got him down from $150) 1 year old with the following games.
Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles (with case)
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (with case)
Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness (with case)
Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days (with case)
Dissidia (no case; disc is in PSP)
Final Fantasy 1 (with Play n Trade case)
Final Fantasy Tactics (with case, manual, strategy guide)
Jeanne D'Arc (with case and manual)
Puzzle Quest (with case)
Star Ocean: Second Evolution (with Play n Trade case)
Star Ocean: First Departure (with Play n Trade case)
Wild Arms XF (with case and manual)
Included with the PSP is a 2GB Memory Stick and the DC adapter.
So...good deal? We've been emailing back and forth all night. He sent me a picture of it...no scuffs, minor wear on the screen but you can't see it when it's on he said. Everything looks good and he just seems like a fellow RPG lover that needs some cash and doesn't play his psp anymore.

Shit that's a great deal - especially if you like RPGs on the go.
Yeah that's what I thought. I was going to buy most of those games anyways so I couldn't pass it up. I've only done a few transactions through Craigslist and they've all been great. I can't wait to pick it up!

I like action games, but I don't know if I want to be playing them on the PSP. I know I passed on the MGS bundle not just because I didn't like the green, but also because I knew I didn't want to play a MGS game on a console I was new to.

They control surprisingly well once you stop grumbling about the lack of a second analog stick.
The Syphon Filter games, and Metal Gear Peace Walker, control like old PS1 third person games, and use the face buttons to look around and the analog stick for movement, dpad for items and such, and shoulder buttons for aiming and firing. It works pretty well.
God of War: Chains of Olympus, well, there's no excuse unless you really don't like God of War. The game style is perfectly suited for a handheld. The camera is fixed in each scene, and the only thing the second analog stick did was dodge on console, which they moved to holding both shoulder buttons together, which I think works better than using the second analog stick. Fantastic game too.
Killzone Liberation is an isometric shooter. The camera is always at a diagonal top down view. Awesome tactical shooter. No reason not to give it a go. Later missions are also balls hard if that's your thing.

I'll pay $180 for the deal, if you can cover shipping to Canada 8-)
For $10, I picked up Patchwork Heroes, Dracula: Undead Awakening, and Monsters (Probably) Stole my Princess.
I knew what I was getting with Patchwork Heroes (played the demo), but the other two I was just going off of Metacritic ratings.
Dracula: Undead Awakening is a two-stick shooter (analog nub moves your vampire hunter, face buttons aim). Kill monsters, collect powerups. Not super deep but looks nice.
Monsters (Probably) Stole my Princess has a lots of style - funny, looks good. Game play feels fluid. You jump from platform to platform to beat up monsters. Each time you touch a new platform your combo meter goes up; it resets back to 0 if you ever touch a platform twice. Both fun and frustrating as any mistake means you have to replay the level for a good score.
GTA: Chinatown Wars is now $14.99 on the PSN (one-week deal) for folks with a Go.
Awfully tempting, but I'd rather just pick up the DS version, to be honest.
Why? The PSP version's bound to look and play better.
Touch Screen gimmicks sound like they'd make more sense on a system with a touchscreen.
They sound like it, but they don't. Most of them made the transition to non-touch screen controls really well, and you don't have to play holding a stylus between your teeth. There's also the better resolution and effects, and 6 extra missions they threw into the PSP version. They're pretty hard though.
It actually looks about the same and plays worse, they put absolutely zero effort into the port.
In order: Filthy lie, regular lie, probably true.
It looks leagues better, plays the exact same (minus the touch screen minigames), and is an all-around fun game - especially if you enjoyed the first three 2D GTAs.

Well, I'll certainly consider it.
I've never played a Grand Theft Auto game, to be fair.

Crap. my PSP is starting to show signs of wear. Sometimes when I plug it in to charge, it just doesn't charge until I move the plug around a bit, leading me to think the socket in the PSP is loose. Same with the headphone port. Sometimes when it's plugged in to charge, it just for some reason thinks its plugged into a USB and tries to connect, and repeats for a while as I repeatedly cancel it.
I wouldn't mind trading it in for a 3000 model (I use it a lot on trains and buses, and light shining on the screen annoys me), but if there's a PSP2 on the horizon...

Mine is similar. The charging port seems loose, because it won't always charge unless I wiggle the cord around. The thing is, I've barely played it.
Shit, so that's where all the JRPGs went! Which is sweet because I just happened to get a PSP finally.
JRPGs (and SRPGs) have been prominently on the PSP and DS this entire generation. What's changed?
I just never had a handheld before now so I didn't bother paying any attention to them.

So I'm looking to buy a psp 3000 or go, but besides the fact that I wouldn't have to carry around games with me, is there any reason to choose a go over a regular psp?
edit: I also just noticed that wal mart is selling the go for 199.99 with 3 bonus games right now. So that's pretty tempting.

But on the plus side, the non-SE version is very fairly priced. I'd much rather spend $30 on Ys 7 than $40 on yet another version of P3.

The fact that there's a level editor is far bigger news IMO.
