Skin infection from touching face?

So I have a bad habit of biting my lip and sometimes I press above my lip with one of my fingers. Its a longtime bad habit of mine. Anyways, a couple times now it seems I've caused some type of skin infection there as I get what seems to be a zit, but then after popping it, it just recurs only more like a crust.

Any idea what this could be? I'd go to the doctor but I don't think I need to, just wondering if anyone else has gotten anything like this.

well a person's hands are ridiculously dirty compared to their face

it does sound like you're just getting basic pimple whatevers

i suggest you really try to stop touching your face so much

    yeah, stop touching your face.

i found my cheek was breaking out a lot, because i rest my head on my hand there when i read, so i keep a clean pillowcase near my bed and put my arm in that before i read so i don't get oils on my face haha.

just try to get into the habit of not touching your face, and using a good face cleanser regularly.

Do you know what a cold sore looks like? If you're unsure of the answer to that question, it's probably worth getting checked out for oral herpes just in case - it's possible that part of the reason why you make so much hand/face contact is because your face is mildly irritated by the virus and you're subconciously reacting to that.

If you're breaking the skin with lip-chewing a hand-born infection is just as likely, or you may have one of the many thousands of things that could cause skin irritation (normally a mild allergy or some other wierd immune system thingy).

I'm mainly suspicious of herpes or an internally-triggered option because you seem to be getting the same symptoms in the same sequence regularly - an external infection will more likely surface in a variety of different manners.

I'm totally not a doctor though... but when you see yours next, have a chat. And don't leave it too long between visits.

Could be impetigo. Try applying some kind of nonprescription antibacterial ointment like neosporin and see if that helps.
