Yeah, exactly. I think it's a combination of the speed of the train, and whether it turns or not. cp_frieght, for example, has slow tame trains and you can ride on them okay.
Whoever made that video makes me look like a pro soldier.
And fuck people who spam weapon swaps. STOP DOING THAT. If you do do it, fucking turn off the viewmodels when saving demos so I don't have to watch it.

I do that all the time, but I doubt I'd do it if I was taking footage for a video, unless I got really bored as a heavy taking half an hour to cross the map.
I do it all the time too, but my view models are off for almost everything but my melee weapon so it just looks like I'm pulling my melee weapon out over and over.
I added that map to my ongoing "search for a better map" list.
cp_mainline_rc3 - Heard it was not bad or not good, its just kind of there pl_cottage_b3 - posted earlier, want to try ctf_atrophy - looks like a cool ctf map. (part of swamp pack) cp_obscure_rc2 - heard really good things about this for 6v6, not sure about full server pl_great_heights_rc3 - tested before, but wanted to give it another shot cp_glacier_rc6 - tested this before, points are kind of bla... but wanted to give it another shot.
cp_wildmire_b3 - seems small, but I wanted to try it. (part of the swamp pack) cp_coldfront_a9 - wanting to try but I would like to wait until its in beta cp_warmachine_rc4
Also, we haven't had a real Team Zissou night in a long time. I thinking about doing one this Friday or Saturday night.
I do it because I'm bored in the spawn, waiting for the game to start, or crossing an area we already cleared everyone out of, and we don't have an engineer for teleports.
The amount of better that video is without music, is phenomenal
I bet you like the camera beard and the tyrant's helmet
Also I switch my weapons constantly when not in combat because I either like the sound one of them makes or because the animations make it look like I'm juggling them

Friday night it is!
I'm testing the new version of plr_secretproject tomorrow. If any other map makers have a map ready to go for tomorrow let me know asap.
We'll probably test the PA map(s) first then start the Zissou night after, I plan on throwing in a couple of the better looking maps from the list above to check them out during Zissouing. (maybe warmachine and something else)
To the mapmakers: how difficult is it to make moving platforms that travel along multiple tracks? I was thinking about Arena/Koth_Valhalla, and it would seem to make much more sense for the clouds to be motive platforms that fly around various points in the arena rather than being static setpieces. At the same time, I don't want to reach beyond my ken.

Making a platform move along a track isn't hard, making the same platform travel along different paths is slightly harder. moving platforms look shitty if they aren't moving in a straight line though.

You can get them to move smooth(ish). There is a setting for the train entity where you can set how it changes directions. It does take a lot of work with multiple paths.

Dispatch from the Department of Actually Bad Ideas
New Medic Unlock: The Life Sucker!
Utilizing ancient arcane rituals and modern technological advances (i.e. inverting the intake), this new Medigun has the opposite purpose. It drains life from it's victim like the Medigun heals. It's not very fast damage, but it also requires little to no aiming. Unlike the other mediguns, the meter doesn't charge just through use of the device. Killing a target will harvest his very soul into the device and fill the ubercharge meter. Unlike other ubercharge meters, this one is entirely selfish and benefits only the medic (if you can even call him that anymore.). It doesn't make him crit or make him invincible, but it does send him into a frenzy, increasing his speed slightly and greatly increasing his self healing. The ubersaw can keep the player in this state, but it only pumps the meter by 10% rather than 25%
Behold, I have just made shitty Medic players even shittier!
step 2: kite dude while your unhealbeam does the work
step 3: ubersaw chains out the wazoo
Keep in mind the guy in question can run away, and while you're unhealing him, he can still shoot the crap out of you. And like I said, the unhealing isn't very fast. 1on1 it's a basically a test of your dodge skill vs the other guys shooting skill.
And yeah, you might need to reduce the ubersaw to 5%. I'd need to see in action to see how crazy it is.
I believe I had a similar idea (called the Gesundeib), which, in addition to unhealing enemies, would let you heal allies at an increased rate at the cost of wounding yourself while you did it. So you steal health from enemies and dump it on your friends.

I just want something to give Valve an excuse to make Medic domination sounds.

From the Department of Think (Warning: May contain Ideas or traces of Ideas)
Kritzkrieg and Medigun now have mini-charges available at 50%. Kritzkrieg now gives mini-crits (yay mini-crits everywhere!) for 8 seconds when used between 50 and 99%. Medigun provides 50% damage resistance similarly. Using mini-charges reduces charge meter by 50%. There is now an option to play a sound to the medic on reaching 50% and on reaching 100%.

So it may just need some experimentation.
Hey
HEY
Nobody trash talks King of the Train!
I'm pretty sure it's just the turning. I know you can ride the fast trains on cp_well, even though it is brief.

At least it's not crappy techno from the late 90s that everyone seems to NEED in frag videos.

These are the only valid reasons to change guns!
