This is a good time to point out that I am one of the rare fellows that wasn't awarded the worst hat ever, nor was I browbeaten with the 'you got caught cheating' bullshit.
Also, post game mayhem on the HDC will be more amusing now.
Hey guys, my friend is looking for a clip-on mic/headphone combo for 50 dollars, what do you guys recommend? he has an idea for the headphone, but he can't find a decent mic. what was that 5 dollar mic that you people recommended?

Also, I threw my map into the hat to get tested on the tf2maps server. And I got told that my map looks "problematic" and that they were going to shorten my testing time. No reasons why or anything, it's just "problematic" and he's willing to "give it a go."

They can sniff a first time mapper a mile away, it doesn't matter if the map is actually good. If it doesn't adhere to a bunch of unwritten rules, they get super cautious.
Well at least their caution is getting me less testing time, therefore less feedback, therefore making my map less better and I learn less from the experience.
Oh wait.
But yeah, I expected this stuff going in, so I figure as long as I get some mans playing my map and some semi-useful feedback I'm ok.
To be fair, TF2maps is a excellent resource for mappers. They not only have a shit ton of tutorials, but are a pretty big driving force behind making things easier for mappers. At least, their community is.
I think that's the same swamp pack that excluded the brilliance that is Moonshine.
It's cool and all that they gathered all the resources to help with mapping, and organize these things to motivate people to map, but if in the end, all they're doing is patting each other on the back and ignoring passionate newcomers, they are a bunch a shit heads to me.
But hey, I've never been there so who am I to judge.

No, the swamp map pack didn't include moonshine, the swamp pack was the bunch of mapping resources and doodads used to make the swamp-themed maps.
What I mean is that there were two separate releases. One was the swamp pack that started it all. Then there was the expansion that also featured a bunch of maps, none of which were Moonshine, those magets.

That last one there. The one that takes up over half the width of the image.

I want to have the basic layout get a decent reception from PAers before revealing it to the self-titled mapping elite.
It's probably not as bad as I make it out to be, I just see a lot of talking down at newbies, and a whole lot of ego stroking for the veterans.
I know half my "Mapping" bookmarks are that site.

I guess I just mean they seem to motivate groups to put out content. Like the Swamp Pack, and the "Ultimate Mapping Resource" thing.
Yeah, Steam seems to be down for maintanence. My laptop can't even receive any game-lists from Steam at the moment.
You mean the swamp pack that didn't even include the best swamp map koth_moonshine?
