I've been wanting to do something like this for a long time. I apologize if there is already something like this, but here's my idea. I'm sure many of you, like me, don't have the greatest computer. But at the same time, that's not so bad because some of the greatest PC games ever made don't require a top notch system to run them today. I also bet that a lot of you have the same games on your PC as I do. For example, Quake III Team Arena, UT2004, Day of Defeat, etc. I would even be willing to help set up our own server on one or two of these games. TF2 has a thread. L4D has a thread. Let's start a old school PC multiplayer thread. We can focus on one old game or play a different one every weekend or so. Anyway, that's my idea. Let me know if you guys are interested or not. I'll take the hint when I see this thread with no replies on the 3rd page.
Old School Frag Night!
For gamers who prefer the classics and/or just have crappy computers!
Hm... I'd be down for any of the Half-Life 1 mods available on STEAM. Counter-Strike & The Specialists are all I currently have installed, but I can get any of the others if enough people are interested.

I've heard of it, but I'm not really sure what natural selection is?
Natural Selection blends first-person combat with real-time strategy. It features intense "marines vs. aliens" teamplay, where one marine can become Commander. The Commander plays from a top-down perspective and leads live players.
The aliens can evolve upgrades like "Cloaking" and "Scent of Fear", and can change lifeforms to run on walls, fly, and even devour marines whole.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

There was a thread for NS a few months ago with many games played and I'm sure I'd reinstall the game if there's renewed interest.

I am literally installing Natural Selection as we speak, just in case.

When and where is this Natural Selection going to happen?
This Natural Selection mod sounds a lot like Savage. I used to love that game, the real bonus for me was there was a linux client so I didn't even need to reboot my computer into windows to play it.
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.
Quake2 (demo + 3.20 patch means you can free multiplayer) or Quake Live.

Though I've never played it or heard anything about it, it sounds like natural selection is winning by a lot, followed by tribes. Should we set something up for this friday night with natrual selection followed by tribes for the following friday?
Also any artists out there are more than welcome to create a nifty picture for the old school frag night OP. All the cool threads have them.

**Oh. Oh you did not. You did not just post a PANS announcement.
Okay, people, thank you for reminding me of Tribes, now let's play NS in an hour.
Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....
While we're still here, where can you get it?
Free as in that Browser-only site I distantly recall?
Here's the C-Net download for Tribes. It was released free when Tribes: Vengeance came out.
I imagine you can get it from all kinds of freeware and gaming sites now.
Who wants to resurrect the NS thread?

Because Tribes 1 is better than Tribes 2 in every way.

Oh hell yes.
Especially since I never liked either Natural Selection or Tribes, FPS heretic that I am.
screw UT04, i say UT99.
or Q3, or Chaos Q2. man i havent played Chaos in so long, that used to be my shit. i wonder if its still any fun.
Duke Nukem > Doom
There. I said it. If you're going to do old school, either choose Q1, or Duke Nukem 3D.
