Here's the deal,
my father is thinking of opening what I like to call a LAN arena. The idea is it's a place where there are TVs and consoles set up, and people can go to play with others or have LAN parties (we supply a large variety of LANable games as well as nonLAN games such as fighting games). It's something to do at night and on the weekends with friends or anyone else.
My family is somewhat at ends concerning a name for the place, and we have come down to these:
Game On
LIVE (long island virtual experience, long island videogame experience, something like that)
GamePlay
X arena
The Underground
Just tell me which you think is the best. New ideas are absolutely welcome.
Just a word of warning, there are some legal issues for the public exhibition of console games. Probably not a big deal for a small venture but it may hinder future growth potential.

My father is still going to speak with his attorney and whatnot, and these things have been done before, it won't be the first of its kind
there was actually one in the newspaper
either way i'm sure it will be sorted out
thank you for the warning
-Also, if that is true, how would something like this differ from competition oriented events such as MLG, and PAX to a degree? Or does it have something to do with membership?
I like GameOn and Live. X Arena sounds too cheesy, and The Underground just makes me think of the whole 'move out of the basement' nerd stereotype thing.
Don't come in here; our customers haven't bathed in months.

Actually, in one of the other arenas there's a house rule that people are allowed to be expelled if their body odor is offensive to other members. We're thinking about doing something similar
trying to make the most comfortable experience for customers
please don't reply with "lol but than u wil not get ne custmres lol"

No, I think you should have a rule like that, because it will help out business. No one likes smelly nerds, and if you have a rule to toss them at the door and give them a bar of soap.. Well, you'd be doing the lords work.
I've always liked "Blanket Party," but that has less to do with a LAN center and more to do with beating the shit out of someone with a blanket on their head.

The last LAN party I threw was for my Jewish youth group in high school, so it was dubbed The Holy LAN.
It went over quite well.
Thats all I have to comtribute, though.

Personally, I like LIVE. It's catchy and is easy to say. it's the kind of thing where I can picture myself saying "Hey, let's head over to the LIVE and play a few games".
I like this name and the idea behind it. If you don't use it, that is ok. I even designed a logo as I feel that the logo is what really brands the name.

Here ya go:
If you like it let me know.
that's actually really cool and super kind of you, did you just do that right now?
Yeah I just tossed it together while i'm watching Deal or No Deal.
I like it because it uses LAN and the idea of "global play" in the "Planet." It also can be "Pla Net" (play net) if you change the bold around. Lots of different ways to look at it.

really awesome man
The only problem with Planet is that it is impossible to google it and get your business in one of the first three hits.

Hey, I think its a good name!
If only we could get that rule for PAX.
Acronyms are good for remembering things... and it's catchy.
well see the irony is that echo didn't really say anything exceptionally helpful either
no offense, sir mod, sir
same idea, though

really awesome man
i showed it to the parentals and it's a serious consideration
LIVE being a close second.
Also, I was going to suggest something like FinLAN, but that's pretty much been played out.
Maybe LANturn? That's got a LAN word and a gaming reference.
All I really got are puns.
If I opened one, I would call it The Gentleman Loser, but that's just me.
LIVE sounds like a pretty good name, though. I can't see the logo right now but I'll assume it's great.

I wish I could start a LAN thing here. But, you know, California.
