Ever since my friend and i each bought a 360, we've been having a very annoying problem. Whenever we play a game together, we cant hear each other talk. We can both hear and talk with every single other person in the game. Also, we can hear each other just fine if we use private chat. Since this problem started, i've moved twice and used three different internet providers. I've used 3 different linksys routers. I had to replace my xbox after a red ring issue so even thats new. My friend has been using verizon the entire time with the same xbox but he had to switch his router when he upgraded to fios. I would assume the problem is on his end since i've changed pretty much every part of my setup but i still cant figure out why we only have this issue with each other. Any ideas what could be causing this?
What are the NAT settings for your respective xboxes?
Not saying this will solve the problem but I've heard that if you don't both have the same NAT settings, you can have issues with some aspects of chat and game joining between friends.
In my own case, I was never able to join particular friends in game sessions, or invite them to parties. As soon as I opened my NAT restrictions, I was able to do that just fine.
For info - My router is a Sagem, and I allocated my xbox 360 an IP address, and then put that IP address on the DMZ. This gave me an open NAT. You can also do this by port forwarding.
My nat setting was moderate but i went to the xbox website and found what ports i need to forward to fix that. The weird thing is, i did this a long time ago and it didn't help but now the website is listing a few different ports then i had been using. I'm still waiting for the friend to get back online so we can see if this fixed the problem.
