Sorry for arguing against forced sterilization, I'm still in my 'rebelling against authority' phase I guess.

anny is arguing that society should fit the individual instead of the individual working itself into society because it's his thing

I'm not arguing an obligation, just that the relationship is substantial in terms of defining mental health, i.e. that both the formation and perception of cultural harm is relative.

all varying human conditions are perceptive to both the viewer and the subject yes this is not new stuff

I am not asserting a new argument; I am responding critically to one that was already taking place.

This is the first page of the thread I've looked at besides the OP, so excuse me if I'm saying something that's already been said but - advocating mass sterilization of certain groups is as much eugenics as advocating mass killings of certain groups.

I'd certainly like to hear reasoning to support eugenics, because I sure can't think of any.

EDIT: Looking back a few pages I did indeed not quite understand what was being discussed. Voluntary sterilization is different from forced sterilization, and it's too early in the morning for me to think about these hypotheticals right now. Bed.

Eugenics can be voluntary and non-coercive.

Uh... Dude, I don't think anyone said anything about mass sterilizations.

Go back to whatever post it was you thought said that read it again.

    Or quote it.

    EDIT: Never mind then.

i hate that style of argument anyway

if we're arguing over whether buttsex is good or bad and you say "but it's sodomy, and sodomy is bad" you haven't actually added anything to the conversation

if i think buttsex is good and that it does count as sodomy, then obviously i do not agree that all sodomy is bad. we could very well be arguing over that instead. the only thing you'll have accomplished is, possibly, to distract me by getting me to argue with you over whether it counts as sodomy.

i saw people doing this in another thread with the whole game/sport thing. people were spending pages arguing over whether something was a game or a sport--the unpoken assumption being that games are bad and sports good. who cares! argue whether the thing is good or bad on its own merits instead of spending all day trying to classify it. then if you've established that it's good, classifying it as a game will simply mean that games can be good too.

in this case, it doesn't matter whether sterilization is eugenics. pointing that out isn't saying a damn thing. if sterilization (in the form discussed here) can be permissible, then if it's eugenics that just means eugenics can be okay too. if it's not okay, that would have been the case whether it qualified as eugenics or not. classifying it doesn't do a damn thing.

(this post took forever to type on my phone so the stuff i'm talking about is probably pages behind, but who cares)

yo' annie since you are the person most likely to have this info: what's the income distribution in Atlanta like? its probably horrendous like the rest of the US, but I wanna know if its some how worse (or maybe better!!)

I know the city proper used to be super terrible, because of the 80s white flight to the exurbs. I don't really know numbers, but when I worked for the city, the poverty rate was around 25%.

We should just cut the poverty line in half. Then we'd have half as many poor people (we could also just chop poor people in half).

i'm really only interested in the CASUAL GAMER features they seem to be talking about, like ranking for co-op vs. ai games, mods and stuff

Me too for the most part. And their twitter account mentioned they were trying to get the beta out by mid-March, which would be awesome.

No, see, we'd feed their bottom halves to their top halves, thereby killing two birds with one stone.

Sterilizing criminals because they might make bad people isn't a very good idea.

The dude who was Perth's first serial killer had a son and he grew up to be the head of the chamber of commerce for WA.

well there are pretty obvious benefits to being a sociopath for both serial killers and businessman

This is very true. I was completely without TV (and internet only occasionally) for a couple of months last year and my stress level about politics dropped quite a bit. You really shouldn't get too worked up about things which you don't have that much control over.
