[Recommend On] Cheap Video Editing and Converting software?

NailbunnyPDNailbunnyPD Registered User regular
At the office, we regularly come across videos and DVDs that need to be ripped, compressed, converted and ultimately published on our LAN or website. I've never been able to find reliable and cheap software to accomplish these tasks. The last software I used for this was MediaCoder, which is fairly robust freeware. Unfortunately, I always have trouble with the output. (For example, syncing audio and video always requires tweaking, and I never get it right.)

I was hoping I could solicit some recommendations on better software, even if its costs a little bit of money (preferrably less than $100.) I was figuring Quicktime Pro, since most of the time, the files we receive are Quicktime video files. I just don't think it will rip DVDs, or output to Flash. We typically encode with h.264, but since these sometimes go out on the website, if we could output to Flash, that would be nice.

    Free software that I use:

    DVDShrink for ripping DVD's.

SUPER for encoding files, most complete converter I've ever used.

ffmpeg is my favorite conversion program. I'm pretty sure it will write to flv, though i've never had occasion to.

It has a little bit of a learning curve, but it's very powerful once you get to know it.
