Just doin what salv and Z told me man. I was looking to see who the charecter was and it popped up as your alt. It was agreed not to let you back in just cause you want to read the boards.
If that's what they're concerned about, then let me in and don't re-enable my forums account. Problem solved.
I want to get back in because I'm returning to the game and am a MerchI, regardless of what in-game corp any of my characters happen to belong to at the moment. I'll re-app my main to MerchI when CCP unfucks POS and hanger permissions.

Talk to them man. I just be doing my job and listening to the boss man.
Beep boop. Anyone have a quick summary on where mrchi is now? Been reading the last few pages but couldn't figure out if we left the goons or humped someone in the ear or what. Trying to figure out if I'm relaxed enough to fight.

I'm just getting back into it right now; it looks like we've mostly colonized Cloud Ring, with enough room and system upgrades to rat in a few systems. So yes, it's safe to come back (have to beware cov-ops rat-hunters, though).

In case it wasn't clear from the quoted post, yes, we are still flying with Goons.
Goons just worked through the latest bit of drama and with the newest bout of war having already started this week, now is a good time to get back in.
There has to be a better way to get faction standing up. I have done 4 level 4 storylines and even with connections at 4, it has only gone up maybe a point. Also the base standing is only getting 75% of the standing increase it should. It says .6% in the list, but only goes up the .04

Do you have Social trained? It increases the faction/corp/agent standing bonuses from missions.

Do you mean 4 standard missions, or the special missions that you get every 8/16 missions? You should also look into the faction cosmos missions that are 1 time only deals.

Yeah I tried a few of the cosmos. And of course I am talking about storyline missions, that's why I said storylines....

Have you handed in tags yet? You can get a decent one time bump by doing that.
How many people in MerchI are actually forum members? Out of the 300+...
Another number I was wondering, how many MRCHI are even aware that there's a webcomic at the core of the community?
DBRB: "what's a fleshreaper?"
Somebody made a crack about working behind the Olive Garden to pay for a new ship the other night, and I'd be surprised if more than half the corp got it.

Well it is pretty obscure, you know. Like 1 whole sentence in a comic from 7 years ago.

That is what I was just thinking. Without the context of what is discussed in this thread, I would have thrown it off as a generic joke.
Hell, I have pretty much stopped reading the comics lately, and just making use of the forums.
So I've picked up EVEmon and EFT to help me plan things out. For missions and general rat combat, I'll be aiming for the missle boat route (Kestrel currently, moving to Caracal, then Drake, then... Raven?) while also training surveying, archaeology, hacking, and salvaging, for hunting those cosmic signatures and reaping the benefits.
I've seen some EFT builds that have cormorants loaded with numerous salvagers. Any particular reason why you'd want more than one salvager installed?

Because it turns out that you can salvage faster if you have multiples, kinda like how you can kill faster if you pack a full rack of guns.

It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

Tying in with what NEO said, as you progress in EVE, you'll start to find that the game heavily favors specialization.
Don't try to do everything with one ship (and later on one character). Each ship class has general roles that it really succeeds at. If you try to fit everything on one hull, your cruise/tractor beam/ salvager raven with analyzers, codebreakers, and a cloak is just a hilarious killmail waiting to happen.
You can get away with filling empty utility slots, or maybe sacrificing a mid, but when in doubt, just bookmark the site/mission and reship.
Oh yeah, as far as ship fitting goes I plan to have them specialized. Namely, once I've got a drake or raven available to me, I'm going to turn the Caracal (or maybe trade it for a Moa) into my "field technician" ship, while the drake/raven is purely geared for combat.
Of course, I have no experience with the game content past L2 missions and cruiser ships, so anything beyond the caracal is new territory for me. We'll see how things go

I've been using http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=MissionReports as a general guide for raising my mission alt and it's been pretty good. There's lots of other guides out there too, you just have google a little to find them.
Caracal -> drake -> raven is a very good progression and one of the widely accepted paths that will do everything you need.
Personally I'm going for a t3 cruiser instead of raven, but that's just because money is less of an issue and I always wanted to goof around in one.
I really do hope someday they rework all the ugly designs into prettier ones. I get it that minmatar designs are duct-tape and the caldari are rigid. But there is no excuse for the Moa, or the Nomad/Fenrir.

I've only been reading Penny Arcade comics for 4 years, does that mean I'm not a big enough fan to join you guys? I can't really correct this without a functional time machine.
Ahhh, I figured salvaging was a hit/miss type thing, like hacking. Not a progressive action like combat or mining. Now that makes a lot of sense :P
Salvagins is a chance-based action, like hacking - it's just that by having 2 or 3 on one target, you're more likely to get it in a single pass. say a two salvagers is a 50% + 50% chance, so 75% chance to get it in one go.

Give Sigma Squad another few weeks and we'll be a major space holding power that isn't allied with IT and isn't invading NC...

Salvaging just one thing at once is for chumps. Put 2 salvagers on every wreck and zoom zoom zoom.
Edit: also don't salvage Mercenary wrecks. Waste of time. Although they drop some decently valuable mods, or they will until the next patch.

The Tengu: Who would have thought they could make such an expensive ship so goddamn ugly?
Haha, yeah, the tengu is pretty ugly, but it's not as bad as the clockwork cockroach vibe the loki has going on with some of it's loadouts.
