And Pancake, did you make any progress on that David Boreanaz Shepard? (This was a thread ago I think, maybe I'm wrong and just *decided* you were making a Boreanaz Shep). The one I tried to make looked just like him from the side, but pretty ugly straight on.

What it needs is a bit of Umbra.

I will go through on Hardcore at some point, though.
Not sure I'll ever both with Insanity, though. I tend to get whooped by hard games.
I like Hardcore except for Mordin's recruitment mission and the various encounters with the Collectors prior to the suicide mission. I usually switch to Veteran for those.

Mordin's mission on Hardcore is only hard at the end, the very end.
When you cross from one fan to the other and rockets go flying all over the place from the opposite balcony.

Or any enemy with a flamethrower.
Psh
pistol/sniper shot in the tank and they're down for the count

I hate pyros and go out of my way to snipe their fuel tanks to give them the painful death their charging and BBQing asses deserve.

The only flamethrower guy I had any problem with was during the Archangel Shutter mission. On the leftward shutter, the tunnel turns right at a 90 degree angle and a flamethrower guy right as you turn the corner, so he immediately roasts you. Pretty annoying on Insanity. I eventually had to resort to the Black hole gun to take him out.

I think in my insanity Soldier playthrough I popped a shield buff (barrier I think, but the other two prolly would've worked), jumped over both miniwalls and shotgunned him to death.
you can take that guy out with "thrown" powers if you're good at curving them. Not the most elegant solution in the world but hey.
I have 4 Soldier playthroughs.
What's wrong with you?
Well, I like shooting people with guns. I like using Adrenaline Rush. I like ripping stuff apart with the Revenant. I like being able to snipe with the sniper rifles right off the bat.
Have I mentioned I like shooting people with guns?
I gave up on Insanity after the robot sidequest mission. The one that just spawns wave after wave of droids with one or two of the big ones as you try to make it back to your shuttle.
Also if anyone wants the Terminus Assault Armor and M-490 Blackstorm Projector, GameStop has a ton of left over pre-order codes. I went by today, asked for and received one (I ordered through Amazon). One of the guys at the register said his other store still had 300(!) of them left.

Soldier is great fun. It's gone from being my least favourite class in ME1 to my favourite in ME2.
The fact that Shepard's biotic/tech powers have to travel instead of being an instant hit like squadmates' has really ruined power classes for me in this game.

I thought the fact that the powers can be curved, and combined for super-effects, more than made up for travel times.

Yeah, but Shephard's teammates powers slam into fucking walls all the time while my curve like sweet, beautiful butterflies.

I can't get the hang of curving powers. Half the time mine hit a wall or cover. And trying to curve it seems to require such precise aiming that it really slows down the flow of a fight. I dunno, maybe I'm retarded. I just find it easier to let others deal with powers, while I run around alternately sniping and punching people.

Apples and oranges Smof, me laddo. Nothing wrong with the Soldier. Felt like I was playing a hybrid of Gears of War and F.E.A.R.

How is it possible to have so much trouble curving powers? I found it really easy and really fun.

Step 1. Get a lock on the target you want to put a power onto.
Step 2. Move the targeting reticle away from the target.
Step 3. Fire the power. It will head straight towards the targeting reticle, and then curve towards the target.
So if someone is hiding behind a crate/barrier, you aim ABOVE them, and rain death upon their face. If someone is hiding around a corner, you aim into open space to their side, and slap them in the face with your biotics/incinerate.
There's a few powers that only operate in a straight line, though.

.
This can be inconsistent. Sometimes the power will curve, but seemingly curve too early causing it to get stuck on whatever object the bad guy is behind. Kinda annoying.

Not all the time....
The Inferno armor grew on me. It looks like an 80's spacesuit of the kind you see in Heavy Metal.
I'd love the Blood Dragon Armor more if I could remove the helmet.
And I managed to trade an extra Inferno code for the Terminus. I used the particle gun in the IFF mission and it was so sweet.

They must've said quad like fifty times in that telecast last night and all I could think about was a bunch of Krogans noding in agreement.

I played very defensively naturally, and advanced slowly, but steadily.

I like it now better.
Also, if you beat the game on Insanity and get the achievement, the Geth Rifle should always spawn no matter what difficulty you choose... dammit.
The collector's edition.

Just set the game on Hardcore or higher before the mission and you'll find it. You can switch it back to whatever after you pick it up.
that damn colossus gave me more trouble than any Scions or Praetorians on insanity

Still... Four Soldiers... Yeesh.
Hell, make it a research project and make it cost 20,000 eezo or something.
I just want to go into a mission with a full charge. I've never been able to fire Cain
