I am not seeing the quality in the shuriken compared to the tempest? Am I doing it incorrectly?
Also, those who don't see the utility in the SMG? Have you played on Hardcore or Insanity?
Where isn't there quality? It does more damage per shot, maintains accuracy at longer ranges better, and it can fire full-auto just as well at close range. Sure, you have to reload more, but it's not like that takes a long time.
The Tempest is basically crap compared to the Shuriken.
I prefer the Tempest. It suits my playstyle of careful burst plinking at distant targets before going OH GOD ITS HERE BBRRRRATATATATATA oh crap my heatsink is exhausted,

Reloading is pretty relevant for Infiltrators.

Isn't the shuriken the one you start with?
That's the one I have anyway and I don't particularly dislike it, but I have better luck just sticking to my pistol in all situations so far.
I seem to be able to fire follow up bursts faster at range with the shuriken than I can with the tempest. The tempest is plenty accurate with its five round burst, though.
Well, the error min/max ratios are on the weapon spreadsheet. The tempest starts with a significant edge when it's zoomed, and numbers imply they get closer together as you fire more rounds.
This jives with my own experience, which is that every third shuriken round misses once you've fired a burst or two, because the accuracy decays so quickly. The tempest can put the first five in a pretty small group, and you can maintain it's error radius a lot more effectively by stuttering than you can with the shuriken.
Also reload isn't a big deal over the long term, but there are a lot of situations when it's helpful to have 50 rounds instead of 24.

that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
The shuriken does 20.5 damage per round and can fire 700 per minute (accounting for refire, according to the spreadsheet.) The tempest is only 14 per round, but can fire 925 per minute. Basic multiplication puts the shuriken ahead against a target that is hit by every round, but the tempest is more accurate.

Ah, now I see.
Also, am I to understand that there are only two pistols and two smg's in the game?

ed: tempest also carries a lot more ammo, although realistically it doesn't matter for SMGs

Maybe one more day will do it.

i wonder if he feels guilty.
There appears to be only two of each type, yes.
And Garrus does not look guilty in that picture.
Aren't we over the thread page limit?
