The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
actually, I take that back. the second series actually isn't that bad. One of the villains is neat, and the Punisher blows up a yacht with a bazooka, but the plot is similar. The Dixon series is really great fun, as short as it is.
Man, I don't care what any naysayers think, this book is going to be awesome. Shit, I might even pick up Mighty just to see how the two teams cross paths.
I agree - I think it's going to be a pretty solid book. I've enjoyed NA up to now and will keep it on my pull list for some time to come. I will give Mighty Avengers a shot. A lot depends on how this next issue of Civil War ends up.
I'm looking forward to this, I've only read the CW tie in issues but I think I will add it to my monthly haul.
Also seems like a good opportunity to grab the rest of the series in trade while Civil War is wrapping up.
I kinda like this entire lineup on the fact that (as far as I know) there's no Avengers-vet on the team. They truely earn the 'New' moniker and have a chance to go do their own thing without someone like Cap or Tony going "This is how we fix things the Avengers' way." on them. I wouldn't be surprised though if Luke at least has a moment with Doc, asking him on some issue due to Doc having run probably one of the more volitile teams in the Marvel U.
On another note, I can't wait for the expected T-Bolts/NA clash. You just know they're gonna do it what with both Osborn and Venom on one side and Spider-Man on the other. This'll be the meeting I think a lot of kids will buy. The previous meetings somewhat needed a bit of Masters Of Evil backstory in mind to really get enjoyment on it. It'll be a lot simpler for fans to grasp why both teams would fight against each other for this new factor alone. Toss in some fights like like Bullseye vs Echo or Swordsman vs Ronin and there'll be some definate gold to be read.
Ronin looks fucking brutal. That kind of makes me doubt that it's Deadpool since I don't believe he's been shown with a scrunched, angry face like that in a while.
But then, maybe they're referencing early, pre-comedy pictures of Deadpool in order to match the character to the NA tone and take away some of the cartoonishness of his violence.
And if Ronin's identity is in keeping with the "New Avengers" theme of the title, then it cannot be Hawkeye or Captain America and rather must be someone who hasn't been an Avenger before.
Could also be Daredevil, but Daredevil versus the Hand and Elektra would make for an unexciting opening.

Especially since he's come down more on the pro-reg side so far.
Actually i think he has changed, depending on the out come of the next issue od Cable/Deadpool.
In the newest issue Deadpool tracks down Taskmaster [spoiler:a5fb89af02] and breaks him out of a prison transport to challenge him to a fight to prove he is worthy of being the #1 merc.
He proposes thathe fight Taskmaster in reverse roles, IE: instead of Tasky being shackled Deadpool will be wearing Tasks shackles and Task wil have free hands and feet plus his gear.
Deadpool then proceeded to narrorate his fight while simotaniously beating the living crap out of Taskmaster. After the battle his "spectators" give him thier reasons why no one wants him for mercenary work anymore.
And when Deadpool thanks Taskmaster for letting him win, but Taskmaster admits that Deadpool was always able to defeat him, Deadpool just never actually took it seriously before.
At the end of the issue Deadpool resolves that if he cant be a merc then he will become a Superhero, and his first action is to take down his keychain that just happens to be on a rampage in downtown New York, his key chain being Rhino. [/spoiler:a5fb89af02]
By the way, am I the only one who notices that Spiderman's eyes look...odd in that image of him, Spider Woman, and Wolvy? He looks like he's...sad. I can just see him saying in the voice of the robot from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe, "I'm so depressed..." as he swings in.
I'm so sick of "unstoppable" Wolverine. I think it is really boring and kills a lot of suspense.
I have to agree. I remember when, as I was coming back to comics, I picked up the Ultimate X-Men trades and was really surprised to see Wolverine take a bunch of machine gun rounds to the torso, and suffer no real ill effects. But, I just wrote it off as his powers being more effective in the Ultimate Universe. Then I slowly came to realize that it had pretty much become standard for the character even in 616.

It seems to even dull pain, apparently. That's the worst part about it.
I'd like to see him at least make ATTEMPTS to avoid gunfire, if only because it hurts like hell.

Concidering what he's been through lately, including his remembering everything and thusly everyone in his long life who he's both cared about and died, it's not that surprising to me if maybe he's got a subconscious 'awww, let's get it over with'-type feeling in his head.

lol survivor's guilt
But, yeah, those bullet pock marks on Wolverine look terrible. What the fuck are they shooting him with, musket balls?
i was just reading the first essentials wolverine collection and there's plenty of times where he takes a shitload of damage without it really bothering him much. like, the issue i just read, three guys pump machine gun rounds into him and the next panel he's jumping at them yelling 'come on! i can take it!'
basically it seems pretty established that bullets don't do much more than irritate him
In the X-men movie Wolvie gets shot in the head with a pistol and he gets knocked out.
That is what should happen all the time in the comics. Sure he can -survive- being shot, but that doesn't mean he can ignore the effects of taking damage (Pain, knockback, loss of blood that leads to lights-out-city,etc).

I found some eBay auctions for books from both volumes of the Marvel Knights team series. Interesting.

Die in a fire.
Nobody would take them seriously
edit: where's my money honey??

I love how Wolverine is the only one getting shot.
Wicked picture though.

I mean hell, you can take Nitro's blast, you can take a couple pussy bullets.
Also, this seems to be the funky hand gesture Avengers team. Strange, Spider-Woman, Spider-Man, etc.

Spider-man and Strange have always done the gestures.

Ronin is Dr. McNinja.
ftw
he's Cell from Dragon Ball Z

this last issue was really really good IMO.
