Toothpaste and cans on planes

I'm flying to Austria from the UK in.... 6 hours, and have just realised I might have made a balls-up in my hand luggage.

I have 2 cans of condensed milk for my girlfriend and a normal tube of toothpaste, I'm not sure about the regulations and I'm getting conflicting information from the internet.

Any ideas?

Are you checking any bags? I can't help you on what the regulations are, but if you have more luggage you can easily sidestep the whole issue by putting them in a checked bag.

According to the heathrow airport website the fairly standard liquids need to be in containers under 100ml and in a clear plastic bag apply to carry on to austria, i assume it would be the same for any airport in the UK

Unless it's in bottles smaller than 100ml it will be confiscated and you will get neither the milk nor the bottles back.

A normal tube of tooth paste is 75ml (at least here in the Netherlands, I can't imagine it being much larger in the UK) and should be fine.

Yes, the rules make no sense. No, they won't make an exception for your milk. No, they won't just check what it contains and give it back if it's kosher. Yes, airport security is insane.

Opening and resealing every container doesn't sound very feasible if you want to show up for your plane on the day of the flight.
