Honestly spencer, if you want better suggestions, maybe make this thread in games and technology. You'll find people much more eager to post blogs and helpful suggestions there than here.

Not to say these aren't all fine people, they are. But it's that time of the month around here and unless you're bring chocolate and grays anatomy dvd's, you're gonna have to face down a lot of sour ladies.
Well, I got some suggestions here and I'll try them. Thanks for the suggestion, I will probably make a similar post there too if the ones suggested don't satiate me.

it's like that scene in the shinning around here. Knee deep in menstrual blood here.

It's not all bad. Think of it as red KY jelly.

    Giantbomb is excellent.
It's the only podcast around anymore that reminds me of the GFW Radio magic. Bitmob is close, but it feels a bit sterile.
Have you listened to Out of the Game? Jeff Green, Shawn Elliot, Robert Ashley, Luke Smith, and N'Gai Croal. They're really sporadic with updating but it's excellent stuff.

Where do I go if I want to have heated arguments about US cover art vs Japanese cover art?

Keep in mind, I don't like jokes and video games are serious business.

Indeed. See my list on the first page I posted...too bad they haven't updated since December.

It's sort of janked by the fact that it's a total skype-cast though. Weird delay, and it always irks me when I hear constant typing in the background while those not listening surf the net.

Is out of the game even still going? I figured it was dead now Shawn and Jeff have their own podcasts to deal with.

I know this is shitty to say, but the whole Jeff Green thing is a bit weird.

I can't blame him at all for leaving the 1up sinking ship, but he largely did so because he was offered a job in games development. That didn't really work out, so he's now a media guy again...only it's as the Editor in Chief for ea.com.

Probably a great job and I'm happy for him, but it's a bit sad to see one of my favorite media journalists to leave independent media only to end up as an unofficial spokesperson for a large shareholder's corporation.

The Feb 2 podcast from Giantbomb is classic. It's more or less entirely about Mass Effect...but just the way they lead into that conversation is so great. In fact, I have my ipod plugged in right now:

"J -...and that was only once I was completely burned out on playing mass effect....uh...for basically 10 hours a day...each day over the weekend.

R -Yeah...you...you beat me on the amount of time spent on Mass effect this weekend, and I spent a lot of time playing mass effect...so I guess now is the time on Bombcast where we talk about mass effect 2.

J -When I got up to shower this morning I was removing items of clothing that I put on friday morning.

    R - Yeah...that's about right.

J - It was that kind of weekend

R - Yeah, falling asleep with the controller in your hand

    V - Running up against a wall

    J - Oh I never fell asleep.

    R - no?

J - No...drinking like, Rockstar Recoveries all day thinking, how big can this mountain of diet pepsi cans get? Can a guy truly live off peanut butter filled pretzel bites?

    Yes...As it turns out, yes."

The only people that dislike Jeff Gerstman are 16 year old boys who blog about how much of a crime it is against humanity that he gave Twilight Princess an 8.8.

That dude is funny as hell, but most of all, intelligent.

Well, I joined to ask a question to people that I thought could help me. I figured that it was quicker than reading whatever popped up on google for several days before i decided if I liked it or not. Its expedient. I guess I necessarily plan on participating in a ton of other discussions, but I'm not planning on spamming as I understand the term either. Although, I guess if posting when you have a low post count is discouraged and thought of as spamming,I suppose you wouldn't really want me to participate in other discussions.

do people just not read forum rules anymore?

or am i just spoiled by the PA forums and our benevolent overlords?

gamepolitics is a good one if you're interested in the legislation side of games, as well as reports on "serious games" and the like

if you're into advocatin' games as freedom of speech whatnot, always give it a look

it at one time was the one place where people could gather around and gaze upon jack thompson's gleaming cock he'd never once refuse to whip out

i usually check blogs in lieu of magazines or big sites anymore because i'm more interested in the journalism side of things

and for the most part "gaming journalism" is dudes writing reviews with redundant word choices, previews, and talking about the free swag they shouldn't accept even if they're pasty fucking nerds
