The Dutch skater Sven Kramer (The energy bill saving skater who needs no introduction to American audiences) was DQ'd in the 10,000m event for taking the inner turn when he should have taken the outer turn! His coach led him in the wrong lane and he was DQ'd even though he had a better time.

Our bad luck is rubbing off on the Dutch!

    NBC, twisting the knife.
Ready for some fresh NBC outrage? Just wait until tomorrow, when Oregon discovers that the broadcast for USA Hockey's quarterfinal doesn't start until three hours after the actual game does. I understand hockey really comes to life on the radio.

Many Americans were quite peeved when Sunday's game against Canada was assigned to MSNBC, denying folks without cable (or an MSNBC HD feed) a prime viewing experience. The network heard those cries, however, and will broadcast the USA's next game on the NBC mothership. Unfortunately ... none of NBC Classic's Olympic programming gets broadcast live on the West Coast. It appears that the game will be shown at 3:00 p.m. in the both Eastern and Pacific time zones.

Of course, if the match were moved back to MSNBC, showing it live across the entire country probably wouldn't be an issue. You can relish that irony while you're following the game on Twitter.

UPDATE: As of right now, the Gold Medal hockey game, the last event of the Olympics, taking place on a Sunday afternoon, when no other sports are being played anywhere in Vancouver, is scheduled to be shown on tape delay on the West Coast. Up yours.

Though I can't imagine NBC would keep the final on delay if the US is in the game. Well actually, I can imagine it. I just don't want to believe it.

And was he ever pissed when he found out at the end of the race. That's insane for Holland.

I don't get how they think tape delays make sense in this day and age.

I mean, I can understand MAYBE if the events are taking place on the other side of the world, but even then - show it live as well as delayed if you have to.

But to tape delay stuff without showing it that's taking place in the Pacific time zone is just asinine. Reminds me of when ABC used to tape delay Monday Night Football on the west coast.

Eric Guay is the only member of the Canadian Alpine Team who actually bothered to show up at the Olympics so far. The only problem is he has left us with a serious case of the "What-ifs" again in the Giant Slalom. He had the 2nd fastest 2nd run. Had he had a better first run, he could have challenged for a medal again instead of finishing 16th.

    Good job Eric Guay nonetheless.

    Edit: Don't suck tonight Canada

    Once again, Heatley scores.

We really should just make our entire international hockey team Danny Heatley clones.

(I can't believe I'm saying this) Crosby actually had some really smart plays on that move. He went straight to the net, bringing all the German defense with him, which allowed an unobstructed pass to Iginla.

Okay, I love whoever's in charge of licensing music for the NBC soundtracks. This past week I've heard Foo Fighters, The Roots, Lady Gaga... and tonight someone on the U.S. Nordic combined team described the team as a "band of brothers", so NBC played some of Michael Kamen's score for Band of Brothers miniseries.
