It's just a gut feeling, but I think my special Ninetails is shaping up nicely. It definitely looks like it at least has good IVs in Special Attack and Speed, which suits me fine. Still gotta watch out for rocks ... don't think he'd take a good hit even with high defense.

At the Gamestop store I work at, Soul Silver reservations outnumber Heart Gold almost 2:1. I find that surprising. I would've pegged Heart Gold as the bigger seller since gold is the more precious metal and also gold is 1st place and other stuff like that. I guess is it because the word "heart" makes it girly or something? I dunno. Or is it because Lugia is more popular than Ho-Oh?
lugia is probably more popular than ho-oh. I'm getting SS because of lugia but I also prefer the color more and heart gold is a little girly.
The same people who thought Diamond sounded manlier are opting for Soul Silver.
Or maybe it's just because it has slightly better exclusives.

I actually prefer Lugia too, but I'm getting Heart Gold because Silver was my main back in the day. Also HG has several key legendaries I'm still missing (namely Kyogre).
HeartGold has better exclusives, but that's irrelevant nowadays.
I dislike Ho-Oh, and that's why I chose SoulSilver.
HG has Donphan and Gliscor. SS has SKARMORY AND URSARING. But yes, irrelevant especially with no trade limitations.

I'm getting HeartGold 'cause a mate of mine's getting SoulSilver, so we can trade back and forth the stuff each misses out on.

The exclusives are both pretty nice for HG/SS. I like that about the Gen 1 and Gen 2 games and their remakes: a pretty even distribution of exclusives.
I remember, as a child, I was excited about Gold and Silver because Ho-oh was so obviously the mysterious pokemon from the end of the first episode.

The only exclusivity differences I can see are the pokemon you can catch.
I was getting Soul Silver to get the Lugia pre-order figure but ended up grabbing both at Target for $1 each. Canceled my reserve for Soul Silver and picking up Heart Gold now at my convenience. :>
I wonder just how much of a FUCKING NERD it would make me if I got on ebay and bought the figurines for my standard team of Jumpluff, Gengar, Magnezone, Snorlax, Honchkrow, and Torterra.

Pretty big one I'd imagine.

What does this mean? Trade limitations? I've never seen any limitations on trading in any games.
FRLG and Emerald wouldn't let you trade certain pokés before obtaining the National Pokédex.
Ahh. I didn't know that. I've never actually finished my FR/LG and Emerald games. I was on a huge Pokemon kick last summer and then I got distracted when the fall rolled around and all the new games started rolling out. Now that HG/SS are almost here I'm starting to get back into it again.

I got a Giratina charm/phonedanglie today. I wanted Gliscor, but oh well.
Scratch. Egg moves, ivs, evs, traded over pokemon is something I only do on subsequent playthroughs, like if I ever pick up Silver.
I wouldn't even use a pre-leveled party in other playthroughs. Throwing together some kind of silly team is pretty much the only fun I get from replaying the story.

A friend and I like to give each other five eggs with goofy moves for new play throughs. I go for silly and he gives me interesting or hard to get egg moves.
Damn, I tried to connect to a Starbucks hotspot in town today to get the Pichu thing but it wouldn't work. (In the UK btw) Musta done it wrong. If only I remembered where I put the manual for Diamond.

I tried this on Saturday (Canada) and didnt have any luck. Not sure if you need a laptop to do it as well.

Anyone care to elaborate on anything else?
As near as I can tell there are no differences between the games besides pokemon availability.

Not that I'm any better.
They've always made little toys for all of the Pokemon. I think Hasbro produces them. They're about two inches tall.

I have never seen any of these, save for pre-order figurines and that defunct Pokemon minifig battle game.
They are at this mysterious land you call "Tar-get?"
They should also sell them at other toy stores.
I want a UU battle.
They usually came in two or three-packs where you got the whole evolutionary family, and they also came with little plastic Pokeballs.
Back when I had them they hadn't even made all the RBY Pokemon yet though.
