So I've been getting back into the swing of pokemon and I'm trying to get me a Starmie with Thunderbolt. Is there any way to breed one with it, or do I have to use the TM? I can't seem to find an egg chain that will work for it and I'd rather not drop so much money into the Game Corner.
Well, I have a few EV Trained Starmies with Surf, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam and Psychic just sitting in my box to trade away to people. They were to help new players beat the Battle Tower and pick up Battle Points so they could get their own Power Item setup for breeding and training.
I guess I could breed one of them with my Timid (or Modest) Ditto, and give you an egg maybe. It'd have the right nature and Natural Cure, and would be level 1, you as the OT, and have all four awesome moves.
On the topic of purists, I'm the same in that I only use pokemon caught in-game, and I don't care at all about natures or IVs. I don't breed pokemon, although I'm willing to use the mediocre TMs (like Shock Wave) and Heart Scales. I see no reason not to spend some of the ton of heart scales I'm getting from the pokewalker.
And yeah, fuck Lt. Surge. He is the master of Double Team-type pokemon.
I finished up the gym leaders in Kanto yesterday. Still need to hit the E4 again and Mt. Silver, but I'm pretty content. The GB Sounds item is amazing.
Where is the first Shiny Stone in HG/SS? I know you have to wait until Iron Island in Platinum.
I want my absurd special sweeper with Flying, Fighting, and Psychic attacks. Aura Sphere pretty much got me through the last part of Platinum on its own, the other five members of my team were just a bonus.

Tangental note: I saw over 20+ girls dressed up as various Pokemon at MegaCon this year. o_O
I mean I was 8-) at first, but as I saw more and more of them. I thought the Pokecosplay fad was over. Not so it seems.

Actually in Platinum there's a Shiny Stone in the Marsh just east of Pastoria you can grab after the third gym. For HG/SS win the Bug-Catching contest and pray or go to the Pokethalon on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday and it may be one of the prizes for 3000 points.

I found one in National Park, but you need Rock Climb to get it.
I wish I'd known that it was possible to get a Larvitar after the 6th gym sooner.
It's gonna be a long time before I challenge the Elite 4. I always use like two or three pokemon through the whole game and end up having to spend hours filling out the rest of the team for it.

On topic note, would you consider Curse a ghost type move? While building a team of 6 (4 ghosts and 2 with 1 ghost move), this could largely change who's on the team. I realize that Curse is "??? type" but... so was the thing in the tower in Lavender town.
After spending hours at the Game Corner (cause I suck at Voltorb Flip), I finally got me a Dratini! But then I heard about a Dratini with some move called Extremespeed? IIRC Dratinis and Dragonaires and such take a while to level up, so should I not use the Game Corner Dratini and wait for the Extremespeed one?

You can't get the Extremespeed one until you've beaten all the Johto Gyms, so go with the regular one.

This is tricky, since its applications differ greatly depending on whether a ghost or non-ghost uses it.
Technically, it's not a ghost move, but personally I don't have a major issue with non-ghosts profiteering from Curse.
Pokemon that learn ghost moves are pretty limited anyway, besides Shadow Ball and Shadow Claw.

If it wasn't for the free level, I'd have thrown it down in anger.
you can keep swapping the poke in and out, walking up 10w (no prob just shake it for a minute), pokeradar to see if the pokemon you want is selected because which of the two pokemon is selected is determined each time you "go on a stroll"
your steps count towards unlocking tiers of pokemon and items until midnight or you choose another course
When on a route you will only see one pokemon from each group. so if you see Poke 1, then you have to restart the route for a chance to see Poke 2 instead. What really sucks is that on some routes the same Pokes will be in 2 different groups, making it quite hard to determine what Poke's from what group are showing up on that particular run through the route.

Bit tricky to tell on some courses where the same pokemon is in group A and B, but otherwise it's not bad. But yeah, only one pokemon from each group is selected when you start the walk.

Someone want to let me in on the strategy for Voltorb Flip? I can't get past level one lol
And BTW I found out that the Extremespeed Dratini thing was based on the Dragon Den quiz, and I answered one question wrong. Awesome. You would want to battle tough people too right? I wouldn't want to be a jerk and beat up weak people. But no, I apparently have to battle "anybody" to be worthy of an egg move Dratini.

The thing to remember about Voltorb Flip is that you get no benefit from turning over 1s. Your goal is to find all the 2s and 3s, that's it.
With that in mind, the first thing you should do is flip over any rows or columns without Voltorbs. Flipping a Voltorb early can drop you back to earlier levels once you get past level 1, so flip over the ones that you can.
Now, look at the numbers on each row or column. If the total number of points and Voltorbs sums to 5, then switch to the notepad and mark out that row. That's a dead row, and it provides you with no benefit for flipping it over.
Once that's over, you can start guessing logically where to flip. Remember that, if the sum total of a row is 6, then there can be only a single 2 card in it. Once that's flipped over, ignore the rest of that row. There's a bit of luck involved, but if you follow these rules it's not hard to get to about level 5 or so.

You just need to find the panels with 2's or 3's on them, so you can largely ignore the panels with 1's. If you know that a row or column has only 1's or Voltorbs on them, then that means that you can ignore that entire line for now. Work out which spaces cannot possibly have high value panels, leaving you with a smaller set that might have higher value panels.
When you clear a panel, that will change what you know about the rest of the panels in the same row and column. If it's a high value, then that means that you've eaten away into the total value needed, and might be able to conclude that the rest of the panels are all 1's or Voltorbs. If you can identify a panel that must be a Voltorb due to a value contradiction, you can potentially use that information to clear the entire line.
Once you've run out of logical deductions, you're going to have to guess. Look for panels with the highest reward potential and the lowest risk. If you see a panel on the intersection of two high value and low bomb lines, go for that first, since you're more likely to get a high value panel from that location. Luck is heavily involved at this point, but you can minimize the risk that you are taking.
And use the markers. Mark panels that must either have a 1 or a Voltorb with the two symbols for them, and leave anything else blank unless you can determine that the panel must have a high value or a Voltorb, in which case mark that appropriately as well. You can also do it full-out Sudoku-style and mark everything, but I find it more useful to see my potential choices as being unmarked.

Pokemon will never die. For as many of us older generation fans leave the franchise, new fans come in.

If you need a female one, I have one I won't use.
I catch every pokemon I haven't gotten yet in the pokedex, so I pick up quite a lot.
I don't know why they don't make a male version though, just remove the baby from the sprite.

Actually, a few...yes. Some, not so much.
Obviously Kangaskhans are parthenogenetic.

Okay. I will consider it not a ghost move
If you're getting Doduo, then you can't get Kangaskhan. Take your Poke out and put it back in and see what shows up.
