PS3 problems with games and bluerays appearing grainy
Ive had a ps3 since launch, never play it much so im not sure if this is usual, but with every game I have played on it there is this fine colour grain. Whats odd is its not in menus or anything like that, just in game. Its particularly annoying in Heavy Rain, where the menus are crystal clear but in game theres this constant grainyness.

Is this just a norm on ps3?
I have a gold HDMI cable.
Not normal, I don't experience anything like that at all.
No idea what might be the cause of it either, unfortunately.
I haven't had a chance to play my demo of Heavy Rain, but given the film-noire environment of that game are you sure this isn't a design decision that's intended for the game? With the blu-rays, try a Pixar movie if you can. For normal movies, sometimes studios remove the grain in their blu-rays (which some people hate) while others they leave it in to preserve the film effect.
I hear PC gaming is huge off the coast of Somalia right now.

Are you at an optimal viewing distance from your TV? If you're too close, it's going to look bad. What size and type (LCD/Plasma/CRT) do you have and how far away do you sit?
I've been noticing a trend of people getting into their PS3s that haven't played many games this gen having unreasonably high expectations for the graphics. Many games render at a resolution lower than 720p, and very few games render above 720p. I don't know if you fall in that category.
How far away from your TV are you sitting? How big is it? What resolution is it?
