Setting up rules with friends is really the only way to avoid it.
I was playing with some PAers last night, and one of them zergling rushed me
I expect a little fucking more from you guys
hahaha
I've been watching the SC WCG 2009 finals out of curiosity, and all the Zerg players had a bunch of Zerglings in the other's base within minutes (the guy who ranked first did this too). Maybe not outright rushes, but enough to hit your opponent badly if he doesn't react to it. Another thing I noticed (which isn't really all that suprising) is that all players used the same tactics and units in SC, as well as WC3. It's always a bunch of Hydralisks, some Zerglings and Lurkers, the occasional Mutalisk and those flying bombs, and late game Defilers (as Zerg player) versus lots of Berseks and Dragoons, High Templer and Archon, and Observers (as Protos player). And no Terrans player in sight.

Of course, it's 2009. The top players now arent really INNOVATIVE.
Watch some older games with Boxer, Yellow and Nada. Those are the most entertaining ones.
The first time I encountered him after my early probe was a bunch of his banshees in my base, and all I had was zealots and immortals and like three stalkers (I was expecting the usual terran siege tankathon).
I just played the silliest of games.
I was zerg, he was terran. I assumed he was going m&m, which he did. So i was like, fuck it, i'm sick of losing all my roaches to that. So i went straight up speed lings and banelings. I beat off the rush with them, then destroyed his farm wall with the rest of my banelings for kicks. After that I teched to ultras, used infestors to put his exps in check and proceded to dice up marines. The only problem was i forgot to keep scouting and he snuck in an exp, then went thors/BCs. They ate me up because I didn't have any AA out at the time
I'm not EU. I was just saying that I wish US could play with EU because I know you guys are actually awake/likely off work at this hour.
As for the ling rushing, yeah, you should be able to beat it with zlots, just try to get a better starting build order. Also don't forget to choke up (but not completely block) your ramp. Immortals rape roaches btw.
Yeah, walling your ramp is very important for terran and protoss. Not sure if Zerg can really wall their ramp in time, you'd need a queen or upgrade to a hive to get the creep to build there. I really have no idea how to play Zerg, the whole larvae/hatchery thing is so unintuitive to me.

Can someone explain the double name thing they have Battle.net now? Name.othername, what is up with that?
the first name is your Battlenet nick that most people will see, the .whatever is your ID or something. the whole thing, demiurge.nplaurie for example is a true ID and people on your friendlist with True ID will be online when they're using other games then Starcraft, like WoW and Diablo 3.
The first name is the one that everyone sees in-game/in-chat, and the second name is the one you assign to yourself, that only you can see unless you share it with people. It prevents people from randomly adding everyone they see and bugging them (ie hardcore fans adding their favorite pro players and constantly pestering them).
Cranky.kiwi (US) -- Feel free to add me to the list!
When I tried to add someone's Real ID on SC2, it asked me for their battle.net email address, which I was thinking was the Real ID. I thought I read that when the first name of your SCII ID is not unique, then it shows the second name. So usually I would just be Cranky, but if there's another Cranky, I'm Cranky.kiwi. I could very well be wrong, though.
Yeah, I thought it was like naming a WoW toon or setting up a simple local profile, or I would have picked a less retarded name. (Note that Kiwi is a nickname from WoW, I am not a Kiwi.)
For the record, I am astoundingly bad at RTS's, so don't expect a challenge playing against me, I still have tons to learn. It's fun, though! I'm very impressed by SCII as a sequel. It feels both new and a continuation of the old.
schmads on
Battle.net/SC2: Kwisatz.868 | Steam/XBL/PSN/Gamecenter: schmads | BattleTag/D3: Schmads#1144 | Hero Academy & * With Friends: FallenKwisatz | 3DS: 4356-0128-9671
If you play someone you get to see their second name after the match don't you? I know I added people after the fact just to see their record/standing.

Don't listen to Demi: schmads has it right. The ".name is used if you're playing someone/friend someone with the same first one. A Real ID friend, who you'll be able to talk to in whatever B.net 2.0 games you're in, will be an actual name and you'll need their battle.net e-mail in order to get it.

The protoss air guys (raven?) with an observer should take care of them. Stalkers should beat them as well, but you may lose some.
edit: i wish i could play with EU right about now, my class was canceled and no one is online
'course I was like 12 when I played SC single player, but still...

I passed it on to another friend because I knew I would get bored of it.
Your sig just seems so right in this situation

Not because you passed up a key of a game you might not enjoy, but because you didn't pass it to me.
Shiki.Ryougi Mikiya
He's a lurker here.
he probably plays protoss too >:(
(Yes, he plays protoss).
Now I just wish I could play against real people.
I'll be hanging out in USWest/PA tonight (around 8pm GMT onwards) if anyone is around.
Hope I get to change that after the beta.
How do I beat a crazy zerg rush as protoss
They had like six zerglings in my base when I was only getting my first coupla zealots
And then like ten minutes later they swarmed me with roaches
Or do I just gotta be faster
I saw this in Husky's video.
Make a pylon on one side of your ramp and a gateway on the other. Make two zealots and put them in the gap. Tell them to hold position.
Bonus points if you get two cannons up one either side of the ramp.
Husky fucked up and forgot to tell his zealots to hold position. The lings ran right past his zealots/cannons and rape his innerbase.

ahh
are you on right now? i can show you some basics.

First game today I was able to toss out 8 cruisers expand to 4 bases and just rock.
The second, I get over run by 6 thors before I have my first banshee out.
I can hop on now.
edit: inbox is on fire, no more! stop!
lol Where is Lemmings?
Slice like a god damn hammer. LoL: Rafflesia / BNet: Talonflame#11979
Weird, how long can the names be?
no, your email address is separate.
No, there's two ways to add someone. One way is the e-mail/RealID, and the other is the username.username you've been seeing people post.
