I actually like this isolation between "SCII friends" and "real" friends. Once I know someone well, I don't mind someone stalking me from game-to-game like Steam, but if I just find random people that I want to play against again in SC2, I don't think I want them to be able to find me on WoW right away. This gives you two layers of friends, and I assume that will apply to WoW as well. WoW-only friends vs Battle.net friends which are more like Steam friends.

haha that was from an idra game I believe, forget what happened, think idra mouthed off to some guy during the match, but superdanielman got pissed and pretty much bad mouthed him the entire series.
It was hilarious, but scary seeing a guy like that mad.

Yeah, it was idra vs fenix in the gom valor tournament. Idra was all like "wow, you're so good at this game" after he lost a game then quit without gging.
I can't seem to spend cash fast enough, like after t1 stuff I'm always super low on gas but have a ton of minerals. I usually hit about 23-28 workers at my main and I average 2 to 3 expansion by mid-late game. Maybe I should just start pumping zergling when I have spare cash.

I kept running into this problem. I figured out roaches were my problem. I just have no gas when I get to t2 when I get a ton of them. I started trying banelings/speedlings then quick teching to get infestors and ultras. So far it has worked out well. Infestors are really versatile, what with the ability to mind control anything and spawn a bazillion marines, also that other ability, which i haven't even used yet because i have been having too much fun with infested marines.
Going lings at the start really allows you to be flexibly because you should have a lot of gas saved up by t2. You also don't have to go banelings until you're sure you will need them since they're just sitting there as zerglings.
edit: also don't be afraid to expand just for the heck of it and build extra hatcheries.

I could change how I build...lately its been either roaches-> hydra/ultras for nydus drops or zergling with mutas. Mutas just cost so damn much gas I'm stilling there watching my gas hit a hundred before I hit 't' to make another.
I could make more hatcheries for production but I've really committed to using the Queen at my hatches to up larvae. My other thought is start pumping spine/spore crawlers and just use that as a cash dump, base protection is usually my downfall anyway.
I don't have SC2, but a common thing in SC1 was just to keep making zerglings all game long. If you have extra minerals and no gas, then make more zerglings.
Hmmm, can spine crawlers go in the nydus worm? I wonder how well a spine crawler nydus rush would do.
Didn't think about that...you can use overlords to spawn creep and burrow them as a fall back point for base raids maybe? I don't know if they count as a structure as far as the nydus is concerned.

There's a few things you should look at if you want to improve your macro. Three things limit you from making units:
1. Resources
2. Production facilities
3. Keyboard skillzzz
Imbalance between any of these 3 will hurt you. If you've got a ton of resources but too few production buildings, then you're never going to be able to spend the money fast enough. At the same time, building too many production facilities won't help you if you don't have the resources to support them. And of course you have to work at being fast with your hands.
What you want to do is look back at your replays and see which of the three is holding you back. This varies depending on the build order you choose. Try to identify things you should have done to preemptively stop resource build up OR the opposite case in which your resources are lacking.
Example: I had an extra 500 minerals at time X in the game, I could have put down another barracks a minute earlier and be pumping out extra marines.
OR at time X I have enough minerals but no gas, I should have expanded 2 minutes ago with those extra minerals.
The idea is to keep on doing this until your build order is optimized. It doesn't happen overnight, but each time you play a game you just try to remember to do these things the next time around. Ideally, you work on this until you never get into a situation where you have an excess of 2000 minerals and are forced to throw down 4 more barracks because you knew to make those extra barracks earlier. No one ever reaches that stage though because in the late game there are so many divergences in play.
If you're well aware that you're not good with the keyboard, then in the meantime you should go ahead and put down those extra production facilities in anticipation of resources building up. Hopefully in the future you get comfortable enough that you don't need to do this.

Just tested this. Spine crawlers cannot go in nydus worms or into overlords as transport.

Man. It's made funnier because that American guy (forget his name) looks kinda like Jim from the Office and he makes kind of a Jim "what the fuck" awkward face at the end.
Adding my support for Melkster's noob video. Good information, and fun to watch.
I agree. Between those and the strategy post by eeSanG, I feel like I have learned more about Starcraft than I ever did by playing. I guess I never really think about how I play, I just do, which is clearly leaving the Strategy out of the RTS. I went for something more like Real Time Suck. Thanks to everyone for being so helpful to terribad players such as myself!

That's Tasteless. He's literally the best SC commentator.
Arguable. He might be the most well known though.
More about that little situation in the video.
Idra said something along the lines of "with u guys i have no fuckin idea what to do", referring to the fact that non-Korean players tend to do weird builds that don't really make sense.
The commentator on the left is Super Daniel Man (Daniel Lee), former coach of a pro team Estro while Idra was also on Estro. Super Daniel Man has a hissy fit about Idra's bad manner and refuses to cast, and throws some insults Idra's way as well.
Played a few 2v2 games with Shiki, (me zerg, him protoss) our first match was a mirror and we got destroyed by a roach rush. Second game I went roach rush and we did okay but got distracted by some reapers and a number of sentinels and they bumrushed my base, took out my Lair and then left for some reason letting me keep my roach warren, mutalisk tower and all my drones. I rebuilt quickly and we mopped up handily, the Terran had over 2k minerals when we won.
Last match was just weird, two protoss who basicly just turret spammed trying to keep us out, which failed for obvious reasons. Good fun so far though, but I can't help but feel that roaches are way too good in the early game.

Especially against Protoss. The big Protoss early game unit is of course the zealot still, from what I've seen, and roaches just seem to destroy them.

Nah, M&M rapes them, as do 2-3 immortals mixed in with your protoss units. Roaches have a hard time breaking that ramp wall too.

Y'know, this game is probably the second reason I'm getting a new computer in a couple of weeks. (The first being my current one is seven years old and has never been upgraded.)

I just put together a new rig for this game the other day. I figure with a core i5, 4 gigs of ram, and that 1 gig radeon 5770, I'm gonna be running this game on high to ultra settings.
