What? In no way is the grenade launcher a "noob tube" in this game.

When I get killed by a grenade launcher in this game, I end up thinking, "God damn, that was a nice shot."

It takes a little skill to use here compared to Modern Warfare 2 where the explosive radius is practically an entire city block.

Pretty much this. You get about a 6 foot kill radius with the underslung in this, while in MW2 you can literally not have LoS of the person, launch a tube, and have it kill him from 30 feet away.

Anyways; Shotgun medic is my favorite class. I just chase after revives and crosses, Saiga'ing any fools in the path.

I'm talking about someone rounding the corner point blank and TF2 Soldier Rocketing you with it.

This does happen to me as well. A lot of people seem to use it as an instant kill shotgun. When they miss however, my M249 makes them pay (just like fat chicks).

The grenade launcher is kind of easy, I think. When I'm moving in between buildings it's out by default and it lets me quickly kill anyone I happen to meet. When I'm behind cover and fighting with one or more people at a distance and it's taking too long I will use the grenade launcher to good effect.

Sometimes it acts weirdly at close range where it will skip on the ground and explode behind the enemy and I die or I misjudge the angle at a distance but it's a very effective weapon.

I usually get several awards for knife and grenade launcher efficiency each round.

Speaking of the knife, is the dog tag page on your stats bugged? It says only two people have taken my dog tags but I don't think that's right, it should be more than that.

Last night myself and two PA guys managed to keep a tank rolling on that one sprawling desert map (the one where attackers start with like 4 tanks) all the way to the end, before getting blown up by some recon C4 while shelling the final point. I got like 40 repairs, it was ridiculous. And awesome.

Hell yeah! That was me (L4ZY3YE) chasing after you down the streets. I was stoked when I headshot a recon that was planting C4 on you earlier on.

I've only been an engi so far, and at the start of the game if defender, I run around dropping AT mines everywhere, then switch to RPG/tracer once I die. It was super frustrating playing that last game before I got DC'd. The attackers had 3 or 4 snipers that just took pot shots at us until they cleared most of us out, then 2 or 3 medics/assualts would run in and plant. Hate recons.

Spamming grenades at a house with an objective with defenders = assists and kills. I just need to point it at the general direction of the house, esp. windows and walls. And after enough shots, I might get Destruction 2.0 kills

I really like how mines don't despawn when you die. When I'm defender, I like spawning as an engineer and just running forward throwing mines on the roads the tanks will take and that will likely score me some early kills. But I hate how many suicides I've had from a tank shooting at me and hitting the mines while I'm still placing them.

Not going to lie, that movement thing sounds frustrating as all fuck. I'd have been happy with a GL that does 2/3 the damage but has a greater AOE, but even now I just stick with the 40mm shotgun attachment, which happens to be ridiculously good.

When Dusda, HyperAquaBlast and I were playing on Nelson Bay last night, we got pushed all the way back to B on the last stage, and held them off for the win, really good comm. When we switched to attackers, we had the last bomb doing the fast tick with one ticket left, and we lost. Do you lose a ticket immediately when you die? That's the only thing I can think of that caused us to lose.

Anyway, I'll chip in on spamming RPG's at MCOM's when I'm attacking. I do wish anyone of those passing assault would just drop a damn ammo box by me every once in a while

This is very effective as assault.
    -Throw down an ammo box
    -Throw a grenade
    -Shoot your 40mm grenade launcher
-By the time your GL reloads you will have acquired another frag grenade and launcher grenade from your ammo box
    -Repeat

I like when there are medics and assault players around but only one class is dropping boxes. So you end up on hillside with med crates up to your knees, but there isn't a single ammo crate in sight despite there being at least three or four assault players right near you. Whenever I play assault or medic, I drop a box at any defensible position I end up at and especially if the alternate crate type is there. Giving folks that quick healing or topping off their grenades while assaulting a position is a pretty big help. Conversely, it's also vital to maintaining any sort of long-term defensive position to have those med kits and ammo boxes around for when armor or mortars start showing up.

A couple days ago, I actually got attached to the boxes some nice people dropped for me. I was defending an MCOM from the second story of a house for ages thanks to boxes someone gave (so many motion tracker assists), then some enemy chucklehead blows out the far wall and another one lobs a 40mm grenade inside. I was greatly saddened to see my friend boxes fly out the gaping hole in the house like they were rocket powered.

As for grenades, I'm all for direct and near-direct (as in inches away) hits still being one-hit kills, but I'd definitely rather see them with the reduced damage but upgraded explosion range. If I can't kill a guy with a single hit to the center of mass from a high-powered rifle, assault players shouldn't be able to just infinitely lob grenades in the direction of their target and win. Yeah, it's not MW2 bad, but it's still aggravating as hell. Even the Saiga requires at least a moment of keeping on a target to put them down and I still sometimes get killed at close range by quicker, better, or luckier players. With the GL, it's just THOOMP, wait for respawn, no chance to retaliate.

You know what else this game needs on top of the totally kickass destruction engine? Debris which can kill you. So you can call in a mortar strike on a position and get to watch as a big chunk of wall smashes into a guy ten feet away, killing him instantly and sending his ragdoll flying.

Also, I really like the fact that some MCOMs can be destroyed by destroying the surrounding building. Keeps the Rush games moving even if the teams are pretty even. Not to mention how satisfying it is to call in the finishing mortar strike and watch an entire team pouring out of a groaning building.

And yeah, Rush is a pretty awesome game mode. One of things I don't like about Conquest is how futile it seems; you push and capture a point, but in the meantime a single lone enemy takes another point. It's just chasing your tail until the game ends. Plus, campers can get to be really, really aggravating on some maps. Rush is all about constantly pushing forward with tangible results in the form of blowing things up to advance. And if someone is camping, it doesn't matter as long as they're contributing to the team. A couple snipers on a hill throwing motion trackers for defense is a whole different ballgame from a couple snipers finding the lamest hiding spots they can to pick off random players.

Inside walls on houses are not destructible. Inside walls on some office buildings are, but I'm not sure if they have any relation to the strength of the building.

Basically buildings have a certain amount of health. Once that building is out of health, it starts the building falling animation (which is always the same animation for each building). Locational damage seems less relevant to the destruction of a building, as you can clear an entire first floor of a building and it will often remain standing. Damaging lower floors might contribute more to reduction of building health, but that would require some testing to verify.

And on the night map, Nelson Bay - yeah, almost all the buildings are collapsible. The last two points are not.

Don't get me wrong though, the GL should stay in game. I love it. I just feel like you should have to be standing still to shoot it. You hit 3 and if you move it should put it away. That way it retains its function as Guy-in-a-window-F'er and Wall Destroyer, but loses the gamey tactics associated with it.

Easier, simpler, and much more realistic solution...

The grenades don't arm for a pre-determined time period. Real grenade launchers these days are electronically armed so that they don't blow up in the operators face, or if they shoot at something too close it doesn't kill them too.
