Well, is amazing the first half, I hope? Got someone who will loan it to me tomorrow, but I'm not really thrilled about the idea of wading through 20 hours of horseshit to get to the good stuff.
Why are most of the main characters wearing layers and over coats while the rest + townsfolk are wearing close to nothing, just what sort of magical temperature is it on Cocoon?!

It's just a very pleasant temperature for everyone, I'd guess.
Especially since it's got a fal'Cie to regulate the temperature for everyone.

First FF games where the characters are dressed appropriately for all viable conditions.
Well, except Vanille.
Anyway, it's bed time for me, and since this thread is bound to reach a hundred pages by the time I wake up, I decided to make a new one so as to keep a certain somebody from stealing the limelight again.

No, it'll be great one moment and absolutely shitty the next.
For example, I just encountered this enemy that instakilled me with a special move with Sentinel and Steelguard up. What the hell.

What enemy?
These random motorbikes on the roof in Hope's hometown. I've only survived it once, and that was because he was getting actively healed.
I managed to sneak by them, only to get reamed by the boss on the rooftops. I had Lifeguard Paradigm active and I still couldn't keep up with the damage incoming.
If this is the difficulty level from here on in there's no way in hell I'm going to finish it.
I am enjoying this game. I can't wait to unlock the full potential of the battle system.
Also, that one review that was bitching about how long it takes to open treasure chests was super stupid.
A few pages late but I wanted to comment on this. When I saw that review I thought treasure chests were going to be this 10 second long animation that would get increasingly irritating (like opening big chests in Zelda OOT). This first time I actually opened a chest in FF13 I was like o_O? That's it? I actually like the animation.
Put me down for having an absolute blast with the game so far. I don't really mind having my party limited yet, because I'm having fun with whatever I'm doing. I wish Chrysalium whatever it's called was more choice-oriented though, because I do feel like I'm not having to make actual decisions; I feel like everything is going to get unlocked sooner or later.

Guess that means I'm enjoying this game more than I thought I would.
Which one?

The woods like it in FFX is like half as long.
Pretty good that it took so damn long for the linearity of it all to drive me partially mad.

Didn't have too much trouble with the boss, though. Maybe because I was careful about buffing my dudes first?
Man, I was just trying to stay alive and I couldn't do that. When I wake up tomorrow I'm going to try and look at this through fresh eyes.
Maybe if I can make it through all this two person party nonsense this game forces you to go through.........
FF14: ARR
I've died at least 15 times so far on various encounters up to chapter 6. Bosses that do 60% of a character's max health in one attack, christ.
Most of those people are probably talking from within the first 10 hours.
Well I've read reviews saying the game is too "casual friendly" and lacks strategy.
Also my friend who is fluent in Japanese played through it and says he felt it was too easy.
Next time I see him online, I'm going to chew his ass out.
