I'd totally pay $60 for one... Sony controllers are ridiculously priced, especially coming WITHOUT a charging cord.
Not that surprising considering their console didn't come with an HD cable.
I just bought an Xbox 360, it had composite cables, no recharging battery, or USB cable, good thing I had a spare HDMI cable an a few hundred of AA's I bought in Bulk for the Wii
You know, if this is actually a decent controller, I think I'm going to buy one, since it's a Gamecube controller without all that nasty giant A button and eraser sized B button, and it has the symmetrical layout that I'm used to.
It's a decent controller.
Cons though:
It's significantly smaller than you'd think. The button remapping function is pretty handy, until you factor in medium-to-big sized thumbs.
Atleast twenty times, I've bumped the map button while pushing right, and then subsequently pushed left. Which would leave me in the middle of a game with reversed right/left. Very unhelpful in Smash Bros, let me tell ya.

Considering the cost of HDMI, I haven't met an accessory so far that's come with one.
No recharging battery, but it came with a pack for your double A's, thus being able to sustain itself without necessary outside assistance (aka a mini-USB cord is a MUST, or your PS3 controller = paperweight)

How small is "small" here? For reference, I find the GameBoy Pocket and the GBMicro to be fairly comfortable and well sized.

I've never actually held a GBMicro, but just from looking at them I can tell you that if you find that comfortable, this pad would probably be just fine.
Now, I've owned two of these pads. The first one still works just fine, but the wireless reception/lag once in a great while pitters out. (Also, the buttons rubs off easily. No real big deal.)
The second one I bought used and two of the shoulder buttons just didn't work. No idea why.

Where has that controller been all my GameCube life? I'd have gotten Mega Man X Collection for that instead if I had such a controller at the time. Alas.

Monoprice is down or I would sass you with a link. HDMI cables are not expensive.
One of the side effects of digital vs analog signal is that cable quality matters less. Much less. Does it still matter? Sure. But I bet there is a sub $10 HDMI cable on Monoprice that is just fine.

Very true; but its still too expensive for Sony or Microsoft to be nice enough to just *give* you one, instead of a cheap-ass component cable.
I think that actually exists. I think that's a thing.
That sounds like an awful lot of flexibility. Why would console makers allow us something that doesn't allow them to gouge prices?
It's a third-party thing. A bit of digging reveals the Saitek Cyborg Rumble Pad, and while it's advertised as being for the 360/PC, it works for the PS3, although obviously without motion support, and less obviously without rumble or PS button support, but it works as a pad.

I spent like $7 on two 7' HDMI cables for my 360/ and cable box.
Hey guys. what is a good, yet cheap arcade stick for the PC?
Any PS3 arcade stick will work, just google for "Sixaxis PC drivers". Surprisingly enough, I heard that the Xbox sticks are hell to set up.
I don't know the details, but I've heard that PS3 controllers connected through USB doesn't work with certain motherboards. You're partially right about the Xbox sticks. I've had trouble getting my TE stick working with a lot of stuff, but it didn't need any setup to work perfectly with Street Fighter IV, which is what I bought it for.
Yeah, I'll never understand anyone who wants the analog stick moved to the lower position, unless you want a controller for a d-pad and will never use the primary analog. Moving your thumbs down there is just not comfortable. But this has all been argued before, and I'm sure a lot of it has to do with growing up with a PS2 dualshock or not. I've never owned a playstation so any time I've picked up a dualshock it's been different from the "standard" controller I've used, so it was awkward.
I'd actually like to see the buttons and right analog swapped for FPS games where you are primarily using both sticks 99% of the time.

Yea, it seems to me that it's mostly what you grew up with. The first analog controller I ever used was the Dual Analog on the PSX (A dualshock without rumble)
My first analog controller was the PS1 one, so I'm really used to that one. I need to try and find a good 360 one with that layout because as it stands I suck at FPS and Third Person Shooters on 360 since my hands feel really awkward with staggered thumbs like that. 360 controller's mostly comfortable when you use left analog and buttons more, but when you're using 2 analogs (and most games do for camera and moving) it's just completely awkward to me.
Yeah, see I grew up on pong paddles and atari joysticks, then the N64 controller as the first modern-style analog control. Which when you hold the middle prong and put your thumb on the controller it's a very similar position to what you get with the non-dualshock layouts.
Im still surprised at the amount of people who want the dpad and the thumbstick swapped. I love the layout of the 360 controller.
It's because you don't hate your fingers.
It's less of a problem for other games, but the layout of the joysticks on the Dual Shock--i.e. close together--makes first-person and third-person shooters fairly unpleasant. It may also have something to do with the nature of the sticks as well.
Games where you only need to use one of the sticks--say, JRPGs--have less of a problem in this area.

I've found I get soreness in my left thumb with the thumbstick in the upper position like it is on the 360.. yet the right thumb never has any issues.
I assume it's one of those things where everyone is a little bit different, which is why the console makers' dedication to a single layout so frustrating.
So, most of my friends are on the 360 and I do most of my online gaming on there. However, recently a co-worker talked me into buying Bad Company 2 on the PS3 so we could play online, since he does more PS3 than he does Xbox 360. So begs the question:
I need a good headset for the PS3. I assume the official PS brand one is probably good in quality, but I know you can use many a third party bluetooth sets with the PS3. Is it worth paying $50 for the official headset, or should I look for a cheaper one that still has good quality?
Recommendations for third parties are welcome if so.

I say it every time these things come up. If this EVER shows up with a USB version with optical trackball, etc. I will buy one that day. Got it for Descent and used it for every FPS/Space sim since until WinXP and lack of game ports killed my ability to use it. Then I sold it for $5 less than I bought it because they were no longer made.

I bet an HDMI cable costs less to make than one of their component cables. Plus, MS and Sony can then overcharge for a component cable instead of letting monster get all the action.

Very true on all accounts; I suppose a more educated guess would be, a majority of people out there DON'T have TVs with HDMI-outputs, or realize their TV has an HDMI output, and don't want to sell people cables that aren't compatible with their setups outside of the box.
Unless your TV is like 15 years old, it'll have AV hookups.
