Excellent. The start is a bit slow, but doesn't last long. You too will be seeing zombies coming up the hell right now and loving it shortly. Remember to shoot them in the head. Shoot them in the head.

(Aaaaand that's enough for that joke.)

I wonder if the PC version will be mod-friendly. Just think, custom Mercenaries maps and weapons!

I was just playing this again last weekend. My god, is it still the fucking win after two years. Definitely the godamn game-of-last-gen, tied with wind waker, halo, and GTA3.

Unless you lost like the Handcannon or something that's not so bad. RE4 is crazy fun to replay, and it just gets old doing newgame+ over and over again.

Considering everyone I've ever told of my non RE4 playing has practically throttled me for missing the awesomeness, I'm sure you're right.

And this thread was sheer coincidence... I literally was planning for tonight to be the night.

    Yeah.

I started a run where I had the Infinite Launcher and the Chicago Typewriter, and I stopped before I even got to Del Lago. It was like, what's even the point?

Yeah, that's what I figure. I don't really want to buy a new cube memory card, though. Is there a way to save game data on the Wii (like to either the hard drive or the SD cards)?

Haha, I was playing in one of the common rooms on campus with some friends once, and got to the part of the game with the two chainsaw wielding zombie women. Missed a step the first time and got my head chopped clean off. One of my female friends shrieked like a banshee and demanded that I never do that again.

Of course I messed up again the second time through and lost my head a second time. She promptly screamed again and demanded we play something else. Good times.

    bitch this aint a cutscene...

Anywho, RE4 is easily one of my favorite games ever. Strange that I don't actually own it. I should pick up a used copy (I have no interest in RE0 or REmake, so the $40 bundle can go die in a fire) and REvisit.

It can't be patched. It would require a chip to translate the memory card request to the internal wii memory or SD cards. Otherwise, the Wii stuff is offlimits in GC mode.

are you 100% sure on this? couldn't they make a virtual memory card, like the PS3 does I beleive?

Will the PC version of RE4 be using the models, textures, effects, etc. from the GameCube version or the PS2 version? Not to start a pissing contest as to what the "real" version of the game is, but I have seen both versions side-to-side, in person, and I think you know why I'd be concerned about this.

I've spent like four times as much time playing Mercenaries as I have playing RE4 proper. I've only beaten the original game once.

Maybe I'll fix that sooner or later, but Mercenaries is so much more fun. Just pick up and kill.

Also, Wesker FTW. I loved using him in Code Veronica, and he's even better in Mercenaries.

He might just be the third movie's only saving grace. Unless of course they ruin him. (Which is entirely possible... might even be a given.)

    (Re: above)
Can't you just send her a new memory card and ask for the old one with your data back? Unless she deleted it or something.

But agreed: losing RE4 data isn't the end of the world.

Mercenaries data on the other hand...

Buy her another memory card and copy her saves to it. Or copy your saves to the new memory card and keep it for yourself. It sounds like your only problem is if she deleted the saves.

They can't do anything in the software. It's just a gamecube as soon as you hit start.

Same price unless you get them used or online or something. I've had the one that came with my console forever because of the price. (Which sucks because it has virtually no space. Had to delete so many saves over the years. :( )

And you'd need to buy another anyway, you have to have a memory card to save gamecube games on the Wii, as someone already pointed out.

Anyway, yeah, I've never played RE4. I don't own a PS2 or a GC so I suppose I will have to wait, impatiently, for the PC release.

Oh and Ubisoft? Here's the rights to make an RE4 port for the PC. It might be handy if you, the master of awesome games, take it with you.

The problem with me for these long types of games is that I can never see to play through them completely again after I've beaten them. Although, I want to. It just seems kinda boring a bit. Which is why I HAVE to wait until the sequel really b/c I just want another fresh new experience.

I've only beaten RE4 once and played through it on hard w/ alt costumes for a little bit... then stopped for some reason. Same with MGS3 and whatnot.

I think I can play through the Metal Slugs on Anthology multiple times, though.

I found RE4 a joy to play through again. Especially since newgame+ means you'll have a fully upgraded arsenal. It's amazing how much less ammo you use on a newgame+ simply due to the guns being better.

I remember liking that it's still the same guy from RE2 voicing Leon.

At least, I think it is. I'd hope the same for Ada and Wesker, but Leon's what counts.

I can't remember how long it took me, but I always hate that traditional RE 'We're saved! Oh shoot, never mind' moment.

RE4 is one heck of a gameplay reinvention, but when it comes to story, face it, it's the same RE everyone knows and loves.
