Rogue Squadron 3 co-op, major glitch?

In RS3 me and a freind are playing the co-operative mode of RS2. We have just reached the Raid on Bespin mission and the only usable ships on this mission are a-wings. After looking all around the hangar for a second a-wing, none could be found so we cannot start the mission. We think another has not appeared since the Jedi Starfighter has been unlocked and is parked in the spot next to the a-wing, meaning that an a-wing cannot be placed there anymore, that's our best guess anyway.

Is this a known glitch with the game? If so, is there any way to work around this without having to skip the mission with a cheat or erasing the game file and reaching this mission in co-op without unlocking the Jedi starfighter first? Any help would be appreciated.

I remember hearing about this glitch a long time ago.

I think you're fucked unless you use a code to unlock the missions so you can use any ship.
