help me make sense of the news, or, don't fuck in the front hole
i have a SHITLOAD of arts and design feeds on my RSS bookmarks, but i have no idea how to manage the endless stream of information that is the news. before now, i've been using Charlie Brooker's newswipe as the primary source for my news, but he only does a couple seasons every year. i need to stay more current than that.
how do, SE
alternatively talk about charlie brooker, who rules, or doug stanhope even
I have my google reader set with BBC, NY Times, Top in Google, NPR, Al Jazeera and a couple local ones. Works pretty well. I mostly just scan it for interesting headlines.

I only find out shit has happened when someone comments about it on Facebook or Twitter.
No joke.
(okay a little bit of a joke, the news is on pretty much 24/7 on some TV backstage at work)
I'm reading Charlie Brooker's screenburn right now, which is a collection of a buch of his guardian articles on the subject of tv. It's really fucking funny, and was only £3
I missed most of the last series of newswipe due to not having a telly license, aerial, or internet connection until the day the last episode came on, which was really really annoying
Basically any site that you like that uses it feed all of their updates to a central thing. It's kind of like your own person Digg. You tell it what to send you, and when to update you.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
The upper left button is new subscriptions or something. Search for what you want there, BBC, penny-arcade, cute overload, etc. You can make folders to organize things and then you just need to check there for all your updates. Has helped me kick some bad webcomic habits that didn't support rss feeds since I only check there now for comics.
for example, an instalment of the girls gone wild series featuring doug
Dude likes the pussy.
And if i recall... some of Hicks' humor... he liked it as well. Enough to dream of wetting a cigarette closed by smearing it with the juices from betwixt Claudia Schiffer's labia.
Google Reader on desktop, organized into a few different folders, stuff I want to save or can't read at work gets starred, I run through those eventually and clear out the stuff that isn't going to be useful; Reeder on iPhone.
i should probably clear out some of the feeds i never read that update constantly. i mostly love it for smaller/rarely updated blogs, so i don't have to go to each individual site and hope for something. apparently i have 37 subscriptions, but at least ten of those probably update less than once a month.

Conversely, there are crappy webcomics I still read because they have RSS feeds.
i have achewood on my subscription but i should probably just remove it
not because i don't like it, but because i like it so much that i still can't help but check the site once or twice a day with high hopes for at least a witty line at the top or something

never before have i wished so fervently for a virtual play button to turn opaque
I missed most of the last series of newswipe due to not having a telly license, aerial, or internet connection until the day the last episode came on, which was really really annoying
is it convenient

One of the guys who tried to do the Man show after Kimmel and Carola?
The guy who directed a GGW in what was possibly the least erotic commercial Ive ever seen?
FUCK that guy!
They make me feel not smart.
Satans..... hints.....

And apparently, a lot of people liked the view so much... that they decided to go back there.
Its a work in progress. But i think basically.. a lot of people ... like pussy.
I could be wrong.
Similar aggregators probably exist for art blags and news.
well, until bill hicks' corpse is featured in an entertaining segment about overpopulation then i'll stick with newswipe
i mean, i agree
but it's still a good bit
