Dang my videogame sacrifices realism for game balance? FUUUUUUUUUUCK THAAAAAAAAT.
Seriously I want to get shot once and then be dragged by my buddies to the field hospital as I am screaming in agony, after which I am sent back home because I've lost all function of my lower body and have to spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair, and I find out that the government I was defending has abandoned me and refuse to give me the kind of treatment and medical attention that someone shot in a war deserves, and in attempt to dull out the pain that gnaws on me daily I turn to drugs and whoring my broken body to get said drugs, and finally my life ends lonely, lying in a pool of my own vomit at a dark alley somewhere, I mean honestly.
Yeah.

Group up with other people, it makes you several times more effective and you can resupply each other if there's an assault or medic and someone can revive whoever dies if the medic has paddles. Learn the map layout so that you have a better idea of where the enemy might come from so you're not caught off guard (this works less for conquest since it's a clusterfuck). When you're moving to a new location be aware of what direction you're exposed from and be aware of where you can quickly go to find cover. You will increase your longevity significantly if you can learn to find cover as soon as you're under fire.
Spot whenever you can but weigh that against killing them. If you can kill them quickly then don't waste time spotting unless you're sure it won't negatively impact your ability to kill them. Usually if an enemy is sprinting past I will lose time if I try and spot before killing them and I lose my chance as they find cover again. If there's little chance of killing them in the first place then spot, this is especially true as a recon when an enemy is moving too quickly between pieces of cover or there are too many people to kill.
Often you'll find people making use of pieces of cover as bases to launch their attacks from. If a group is sticking around then drop an ammo or medic pack if you're an assault or medic. Do this especially if someone has dropped the counterpart to the pack you're carrying. This will significantly increase the longevity and effectiveness of the group.
When defending points don't penetrate too deeply into the enemy otherwise you might find yourself far from the objective when an enemy manages to sneak around and plant a charge. Be careful where you are when around an objective whether you're attacking or defending. MCOMs are giant bullseyes for attacks with explosives. Usually I will find a piece of cover that has a line of sight to the objective and then attack or defend from there. If the building is blown out whoever you're engaging will be left in the open and you'll be safe behind cover.
Basically take it real slow and take the time to weigh your difference options. So long as you have an idea of where the enemy is (this is facilitated by EVERYONE spotting) and you're behind cover you can take a few seconds to make decisions. The game is very open-ended and there's a lot to do at any given time. Have fun but also keep the objective in mind at all times.

I'm trying to help my friend; he's having an issue with his BC2. It's crashing, giving a 'white screen of death'. The error message reads: "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered". He's updated to the latest drivers, which didn't fix it. This seems like a residual problem from the beta that some others are having as well. Any theories/help would be appreciated. The crash seems to happen most often when an explosions goes off near to him.

Here's something I really like about this game:
When you're low on ammo, possibly having emptied one of your guns, and you get more ammo. In most other games your "ammo reserve" holds the maximum amount (say 90 bullets + whatever is in your gun) and nothing more, but in this case it'll take the maximum amount + however many your gun needs to be full after a reload. In most other games you have to reload your secondary weapons before picking up ammo (I'm angrily glaring at you, Mass Effect 2) or you won't fully refill your ammo reserve, it'll be lacking after you do get around to reloading your weapon.
I'm explaining it in a weird and clunky way, but it's a tiny little thing that I really like.
Literally stick with your squad and communicate with your team in vent. That's basically what you need to do.

I do like one thing in particular about the new game build, which is people dying INSTANTLY when you knife them dead on, even with 400 ping. Plus the knife sounds so rusty.
This is part of the reason I have about 130 dogtags.

When I play a ninja assault I move around above the enemy as often as possible and then I jump down and knife them all. If I can't gain a vertical advantage then I'll flank them whenever possible, for instance if I know an enemy is behind a building. Doing it in the woods is also viable. You'll often see people focused in one direction and you can easily flank them and get them from the side or behind.

Killing someone with the knife is awesome. You stick it in, twist and they crumple. Then you get their dog tags as a trophy.

It sounds horrible. Like ribs being pushed aside by a dirty great metal chunk. And the chunk is serrated and covered in rust. You also get the dogtags of the person you stabbed, forever. So that at any time you can open up your stats, check dogtags and rub it in everyone's face that you knifed them 18 times.

I haven't noticed that. That is totally awesome and did piss me of in ME2 with the low ammo cap in that game.
It does seem like there's a lot of neat little things like this in BC2. Though I'm still having trouble getting use to the controls. It feels like there's too many frames between input and render.
Is there a way to bring up the console and/or display the framerate?

People are so much better than me. I keep getting murdered by 40MM grenades and knives.
Oh haha, I get it! Haha, you said they were better than you, then you said they killed you with those weapons. You forgot the M60, though, you kidder you.
I'd be alright if they nerfed the 40MM shells, but I hope nothing like what they did in BF2 happens, where they somehow fucked up the actual travel of the shell/smoothness. That was stupid. Got the m16, and I like both it and the m4, don't know why people say they suck. I don't like the weird way the AN fires. Also... my life is a meaningless husk of a shell until they fix their server issue. Must unlock engineer guns...

So I've been calling the Q spotting flaky, because sometimes it doesn't work, however this was just revealed to me.
THERE IS A LIMIT!
If you spam Q too much it will cause a cooldown that will make it so you cannot spot anything for 10-15 seconds.
This was implemented to prevent spamming spot to get the "invisible" enemies on the horizon.
If you have wondered why sometimes you have someone dead in your cross hair and the spot does not work, this is the reason.
via reddit.
Thought it might help someone else.
Edit: Apparently the cooldown may be closer to 4 or 5 seconds and the cause is magic, but something to do with too many 'misses' in a row.
Is a knife kill satisfying? Like do you get some juice with it? I want to knife guys. Specifically irond will.
I dunno what they did, but it's pretty violent. Like... you raise the knife up high like a fucking psycho and then bury the damn thing into your victim.
When you knife someone and they turn around right as it comes down and lodges into their face...

... Then you realize the auto-aiming knife missed, which it does like all the time vs moving targets, and said target mows you down. The auto-aim for the knife sucks, so frustrating when it misses damnit.

Turn off Vsync. It happens in Dead Space when you have it on as well.
When you see a uber-leet sn1p3r wasting everyone's time and tickets just do what I do, it's easy since they're not moving much: Tracer dart to the face. Two if they don't immediately get up and get useful.
