    Dear Thread,

Please help me to not suck at shooting mans as an engineer. The two air soft guns I have at my disposal does not seem to have any effect at all.

    Best Regards,

If all you're doing is shooting as each class, you're a deficit to your team. Assaults need to use their grenade launchers and ammo boxes to score reflex kills against rambo players and support long incursions. Engineers need to buff tanks and blow enemy tanks and punish groupers. Recons need to keep the majority of the team spotted and lay down mortar on the objective or at the best possible coordinated time each time it refreshes.

If you do this, you'll be able to counter the medic rush. Both attacking and defending teams can score invulnerability from medics - try killing defenders who have 4 supermedkits behind them. So if the default class is medic, the attackers and defenders should cancel eachother out and the net effect should just extend the round time.

with engineer just get a gun with a high rate of fire and hip fire it; don't actively engage anybody that can fight back

The engineer SMGs are something horrible indeed. I recommend sticking back at "rocket their buildings into smithereens/fix tanks" duties until you get proper guns (shotguns).

I see medics but, at least when I'm playing (mostly on the Angry Dome), I do not see them making up a huge portion of a team. Nor do I always see them top the charts. I've seen everything but recon top the charts, and I know I've at least seen recons be extremely useful and successful.

Also, the downside to the LMG is that armor will destroy you and you can't do shit about people holed up in buildings or behind good cover.

I don't think any class is really overpowered. I haven't been rolled by medics (yet, at least).

I'm just throwing out ideas that might quell complaints.

I haven't hit any medic floods in my pub playing, and nor do I really feel very powerful at all (I'll usually be about mid to mid-high in end of round rankings).

Also the hard counter to medics in every Battlefield game is cover and vehicles.

I have the first shotgun (Remington numbersomething) but it felt pretty ineffective as well. I'm guessing there are auto shotguns later on? And I'm pretty much dying to get my hands on some sort of scope for my guns, the iron sight just obscures the view. When do I get that? It's not class specific right? I don't understand how unlocks work.

Anyway, the ~3 h I've played so far has been supermegafunchaos. I'm pretty decent at the engineering stuff as it takes more brains than twitch and I'm not comfortable with how the guns handle in this game yet.

Way to go DICE, I mean geez.

Every class being overpowered doesn't signify balance. It just means that every class is overpowered.

It also leads everyone playing each class one specific way(grenade spam, rocket spam, LMG sniping/dolphin ressing) since it is so obviously better than the other ways.

No, he means go medic to get points.

The shotguns are all any class accessible, and unlock via your rank.

You can see when things unlock by going to multiplayer -> weapons and gadgets.

Anything that is just points is via that class, anything that shows a symbol is your overall rank.

Ah, ok. I'm guessing rank points determine when they unlock then, and not class points? And how about them scopes.

[edit for morkath] Sadly EA doesn't allow me to see what my "next unlock" would be. The box where I suppose there should be a picture of a gun is just a yellow background.

JUST before the EA servers went down, me, Jaunty, Carbonfire and KimChi came up with a surefire plan to not lose on Isla Innocentes as attackers.

We carpeted a blackhawk in C4 and I flew it at B. I missed the shed and instead hit the concrete barrier five metres in front of it. At a range of five metres, we took off half the MCOM's health.

    Glorious.

probably fall out. I know I used to try putting ammo-boxes/medkits down in the passenger area and they just soared away. I wish that a medkit/ammo box dropped from high enough would kill enemies they landed on.

Going purely by the misleading damage sheet, the best weapons are:
    AN-94
    SCAR-L
    M60
    SV98
    M1911
    Shotguns are basically even
    G3

They're better by, like, .1 second in terms of killing speed.

They do have a decent amount of backstory to the battlefield series. It is, however, located on the bottom of page 16 in the manual to the multiplayer-only game you bought many years ago and lost. If you ever read it at all. Oh, and some of it was on loading screens I think.

So less 'a wizard did it' and more 'edited for television'. You want to know the story, look it up on wikipedia, I don't know.

West coast is a high ranked server and is public, and so it functions as little more than a super popular hub now

Also there are several ways to cheap out the game far beyond what happens in these two servers.

I think the playing style required to make battlefield actually work hasn't been stabilized yet. When people learn to put certain groups in charge of physically watching the MCOM, and when squads start unifying instead of donating to the biggest attacking glob, the game will become less of a ticket-draining fest and more of a squad-focused, maintain cover while thinking of the next plan of attack kind of thing

and maybe we'll actually use squad speak once in a while
