There seems to be a strange thing though. I ordered a 3-Day pass but I got passes that say Friday on them?
Do we just get a pass for each day?
No, they should be red badges that say Three Day on them.
I wouldn't panic though, you've got plenty of time to get it straightened out. Chances are they'll have you show up at will-call and they'll just give you a three-day badge then.
Yeah I was having a miniature heart-attack...I've got the email that says 3-Day Badges with the confirmation bar code thing, and I know I was charged for them.
Got mine today. Same question on Lanyards...we get them in the bags, I'm guessing?

Dinger! I, too, am in The Great White North, but have yet to receive my badges...stinking or otherwise. Hopefully / prolly come tomorrow.
For those in Canada who have received theirs, did you receive a tracking number or any info from FedEx regarding your package?

I live in California, and just got my two three-day passes today!
The included CharlieCard is awesome, too! I plan on pre-loading it and making good use of it while we're there.
anyone planning to preload money on their charlie cards, I'd advise against it, I've had issues with it in the past. Just wait to get to Boston and fill it up at a machine, when you do it online, it doesnt register the new funds until you tap it at a machine (which is fun to find out when you're trying to take a bus and it says you have 0 balance)
I got mine today! I was more excited to get that than I was to get graduate letters of acceptance/denial. And way more excited to get that than my bridesmaid dress.
I was asked, when my roommate saw my PAX pass, if that was the 'geekfest' I'd been talking about. Pfft, they say that as if it's a bad thing.
YAY!!! we got ours!!! It caused my husband an irrational outburst of Tarzan like battle cries.
he is so cute ^.^ The rules on the back of the badges also made me giggle. We have our hotel booked, our flight tickets bought, and our badges.. I'm getting started on my cookie brigade project, the snow is melting, birds are singing, and all is right with the world!

Hey what's this Charlie Card thing that came with my pass?
I mean, I know what it is, but why was it sent to me?
Carlie Cards were sent out with PAX Passes so that people can get around boston with them during PAX.
But are they loaded with anything or is it the same as if I got a card from a station in Boston?
Or do they normally cost money to get?
they're free to get in Boston at any major train station, just look for an employee, they usually have spares. pretty sure they're empty, I doubt pax would take that huge a hit to add fare for the train.
if anyone plans on sightseeing around Boston, I would suggest loading the card with a weekly subway pass, its 15$ (the daily is 9$) and is unlimited subway and bus rides.

You still have to load them (they come empty). I think they were just included as a convenience, especially to people from out of town. I don't know if they normally cost money to get.
Don't cost money to get, but like Moe said, it's a convenience. This way if you didn't know about it (especially for people not on the forums) you still have one and save money on getting around town.
Can we get a refund on the money left over on the card at the end of the weekend?
I don't think so; You can just load the card each time before you get on the subway, but I dunno if it'll let you do $1.70 or if it forces a whole dollar amount or what.
You can add however much (or little) you like at most of the MBTA machines, provided you pay with a credit/debit card. I usually do multiples of $1.70 ($1.70, $3.40, $17.00) so I'm never left with an orphaned $0.30.
If you pay cash, I'm not sure whether you need to do it in full dollar amounts.
(I've been a long time lurker on these boards, but with a hometown PAX upcoming, I figured it was time to contribute.)
You can load $1.70 easily. Also, if you pre-load your card taping it on any T fare box including the ones on the trains will load it, then you just have to tap it again to pay your fare. You can also load cash onto the card on the trains and buses. I'll normally just toss $5-10 on it though unless I'm getting a pass.

I think I did pretty well, considering I started out with nothing but a bunch of blank paper.

shugarae: Indeed! As long as you load a dollar amount on and not a weekly pass 2 or more people can use the same charlie card.
