The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I was just watching this again and noticed that there's a small scene where the two teachers (younger guy and girl) are sitting together and the science teacher says "Donnie Darko" and they both chuckle...wtf is that about?
To me it sounded like "What a weirdo, what are we gonna do with him". At the same time it shows the audience that everyone sees he's not a common guy, since they don't even have to explain.
Oh I guess I can see that, I was kind of wondering if it tied in to the part at the end (when everyone seems to have a faded memory of what actually had happened and that Donnie had finally ended the time loop).

Yeah absolutely, make up some weird-ass theory. I think that's what Donnie Darko is for.
Uhh, been awhile since I've seen but I think you're talking about the part where they are discussing who vandalized the school after he did the penmanship test. They are laughing cause he is the last person they suspected.

I just want to say, this made me lol.
But for the record, I agree with the last two posts.

It should be known that you should never ever look up what the director thinks happens in the movie.

Although if you're curious as to what happens when you rip the last vestiges of a coherent plot from the Donnie Darko concept and things just go apeshit-off-the-rails, you can watch Southland Tales.

I never have and I can't tell if you mean that what he thinks is ridiculous, or it's more fun to think on it for yourself, or if you're just being sarcastic.

And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn

When it first came out there was a website that filled in someof the story by giving you pages from the book. I wonder if that's still around and whether that was the director's vision?

What Richard Kelly thinks is not ridiculous.
