Imagine my shock when I clicked an article purporting the Wii as a "sex machine" only to fail to see detailed the uses its remote can have as both a dildo and vibrator.
Surely something roughly the size of a human male penis that takes AA batteries and rapidly oscillates can be nothing other than pure condensed evil and should be kept at a fair distance from our young girls' vaginas as well as our young men's anuses.
By not detailing the shortcomings of this device I can only assume you are some sort of sadomasochistic lesbian who is out to corrupt our children, much like the Nintendo corporation itself.
Wait, that "Sex Machine?" picture was actually in the article? I thought it was just thrown together for this thread or another like it somewhere else.
Wait, that "Sex Machine?" picture was actually in the article? I thought it was just thrown together for this thread or another like it somewhere else.
It was actually in the article. That is what made it so funny.
So....now that this is happened, can we -please- have something other than friend codes since it's a Sex Machine now? There's no point in going down the friend code path since a kid can just chat online through Opera on Wii and get abducted by a child molester, totally circumventing the "security" of friend codes?
So we got them to remove their image, the byline by the original author, and even took down her own professional e-mail address.
But, why not just remove the entire article since now the image has nothing to do with what is discussed in the text? The text is still all about some douchebag parent who thinks that maybe, one day, their child will access porn through the Wii.
I see that you're making some amends to your excellent exposure of these fraudulent companies. I'm not sure I approve of you pulling your punches in the fight against these demon electronics, but while you're at it I'd like to turn your ears and eyes towards the blasphemous Microsoft corporation, who also has developed a game console with kids and corruption in mind.
Through colorful titles like "Viva Piñata", they have captured the youthful imagination of our nation in the same vein as Walt Disney. But unlike Disney, they do not plan to turn this wholesome appreciation into an admirable profit, instead they're aiming lower. Right for the loins, you might say.
Yes, the X(XX)BOX 360 happens to be capable of pulling pornography from the same tainted radio waves that we've recently been plagued by with the introduction of the Nintendo Wii (short for wiener) and Sony Play(boy)station 3. While I'm saddened that you've removed your accurate descriptor of the Nintendo Wii as a "sex machine" the least you can do is give the public visuals of the other two offenders.
Hopefully through your guidance, the buying public will be able to recognize these pagan systems off hand and will resort to their only moral choice, a Dell computer chock full of healthy software for their children.

A little overstated (the renaming of the consoles was a bit much), but otherwise that actually sounds like something Thompson would write .

For the record, the "Spike" part was just so it'd match with my e-mail address better.

They now have rape codes, which is just the kid's phone number and address.

Ok so why all the hate here? the "Sex Machine" graphic was a bit much, but what they're reporting on is a legitimate concern for parents. So say some parent didn't know there was a downloadable browser for the Wii they bought their kid for Christmas, now they do and are aware you can access the internet (and porn) from it.
Seems like a win/win to me, despite the sensationalism.

Troll?
Troll. But what the hell. I'll bite.
The kids can't get porn without downloading the web browser. If the parents download it for them and don't pay attention to what the kids are doing, it's their own damn fault.
The point was the article is horridly mis-imformed, tended to idiot parents who want machines to baby-sit their kids and were one step away from calling Nintendo child predators.
Right but the article essentially says "Hey parents in case you didn't know, be cautious because there's an internet browser accessible on your kids new toy".
Despite the sensationalism (which is only used to get attention to the article, and I'll admit is shameful), it's a valid point.

The parents have to download it. Unless we're dealing with a kid who knows their way around technology, which is a rarity.
Is it that difficult to download that a 7-10 year old would have to have his parents do it for him? My daughter is 5 and can pull up multiple tabs in Firefox and navigate the web.
I don't even know why I pointed it out, but the article isn't that bad. It points out that the Wii has parental controls that parents should look into, which is a good thing, and also points out the other side, that some parents feel it isn't enough. You make the choice as a parent reading this article.
Lol, point out where it does either of those in that article. If anything it paints Nintendo in a positive light! The mother interviewed doesn't blame them, she blames porno companies for trying to move in on Wii users!
For now, the Schroeder girls will keep playing. But their mom is keeping an eye on an industry that she says tricks and targets kids into learning too much, too fast.
"We need to keep them protected from people who want to invade a fun game like the Wii," Schroeder said.
The "them" in question is porn providers making sites "Wii Friendly". Which I think we can all agree on is pretty shady.
There isn't any misinformation. Nintendo isn't being dragged through the mud here. It's an informative article for parents that the possibities exist and to be careful and spend time with your kids and monitor what they're doing. Hell there's even links to Nintendo's parental control page right there if they want more detailed information!

It's the internet. All sites are Wii friendly, as it has Opera, a web browser. Period.
So does that make the article any LESS factual? It's there, parents should be aware. Some parents are douchebags who don't know or care, but nowhere does the article say that's Nintendo or Sony's fault.

But these machines aren't just hot among kids; they're also compatible with sexually-oriented Web sites.
This makes it seem like they were built to accommodate the porn.
That's the problem. The consoles just have an internet browser. That's well advertised. Any half-wit parent should be able to, by now, equate Internet connection=Possible porn.
But they go blaming Nintendo for "allowing the Wii to access porn". Other parents have already started. This mother is a bit of a rarity in the general population, believe it or not.

you're good to go now
Couple this with the inevitable anti-violence backlash to The Godfather: Blackhand, and Nintendo will have scored one bizarre trifecta.

EDITED EDIT: The e-mail address is "[email protected]" if anyone still wants to write her.
OMG Wii = tool for online predators to put kiddies on teh rapes

They're liars.
Games make children violent killers.
I don't know why anyone watches it. People ask me about current stupid news shit all the time, and I ask them why they watch that horseshit.

Also: Parents could just disable the browser.
